From the Darkness is an indie horror game and it's ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING. This game gave me a physical reaction I haven't felt in AGES, this game is so scary and I love it. for a 5 dollar indie, this game is fucking incredible. just based off the intro alone. I can tell this was more about the passion than the profit to the developer. the way the animations play out is both smooth, and kind of reminiscent of older horror games, like amnesia. the atmosphere is amazing, the game isnt too dependent upon music and jumpscares to make you feel uneasy. the building has plenty of detail, and the proportions to all the furniture, and rooms are amazing aswell. despite not being as high resolution as popular titles, it looks much more realistic in my opinion. the way everything is done is just beautiful. the art style is almost like life is strange had a major upgrade to their design team.

I guess so; but my first thought was that they literally are just saying the same thing as " If I was my cat where would I be?" Just replace cat with anything. It's a common thing people say to themselves when they are looking for something and is kinda funny. So when I read it it kinda made me chuckle if anything 😆. He's looking for his way to the future and trying to put himself in the "path to the future's" shoes basically.

When someone is scared, or lets say alerted and trying to spot something, their brain involuntarily focuses on the center of their field of view to get a more detailed picture. At the same time though, unless there is a sudden movement, the peripheral vision is unconciously "subdued". If there is a sudden movement in the peripheral sector though, our the focus of our eyes tends to "snap" right on to the area where the movement happened. The doll did not suddenly move... it didn't move at all actually. It was just there when he looked further to the right. Now take into account that what we see in a stream or youtube video is usually not the original size or quality of what the player saw at the time. Long story short... it's much easier to spot something like the doll there, not moving and at the edge of the screen, when looking at the footage afterwards. Some producers use this effect to put another scare into you even after you've already finished the game or movie for the first time. ^^ PS: This effect described in the first paragraph becomes really really annoying when your eyes have a naturally wide field of view, lets say around 90-100 degrees main and 40-50 degrees peripheral left and right(for a combined FoV of 180 degrees, which is 20 degrees more than the average) but need to wear glasses for some reason. Feels like you're sitting inside a car with a small forward window and thick A-pillars. Not fun.

The atmosphere building in this game is insane. Sure the graphics are kinda rusty but the way it just builds dread and maintains it despite having no deaths or chase events (bamboozled since it tells you about hiding under the bed and how to sprint) is just so well-crafted.

I know I'm like super late, but I'm watching your other games This was really really good A bit janky at the beginning, with the player model standing still and the camera moving in the options, but otherwise 10/10 As you said at the end. The dread. This game had 2 or 3 really solid jumpscares, but the atmosphere and dread throughout was phenomenal. I enjoyed it all the way through. I loved it

Also that game model, I forget where it's from but I laughed when I saw that was the body model the creator chose for you to see yourself as in the mirror. I dont know what consoles deadly premonition is but I definitely recommend it. The soundtrack is amazing and the plot is pretty interesting and sometimes quite strange but I know it's on the switch for sure, and there is also a whole bunch of side quests that you can do but only in certain chapters and if the character is alive! But I definitely think it is a great game even sometimes a character will start to clean the air or the cars will try to drive while being crashed but that's part of the charm tbh.
