THIS GAME UPGRADE COSTS $150 IN REAL MONEY - Pay 2 Win?

The M26 T99 in War Thunder is a Premium Medium Tank for the US Tech Tree. This tank costs 7450 Golden Eagles but you can't buy it unless you buy or own the Calliope which is a further 9740 Golden Eagles. That adds up to more or less $150 USD!
What the M26 T99 is, is really just an M26 Pershing with some M8 Bazooka Rockets strapped to its ears. Resembling Dumbo, this American Tank is more of a hinderance than a help due to the fact enemies and machinegun your rockets and set you on fire!
The M26 Rocket Tank does have a plus side, though. The M8 Rockets are excellent against light tanks, open tops and SPAA's that get to close. If your barrel or breach is taken out, you still have a means to defend yourself. They also work great to block your enemies vision due to the amount of smoke and debris they kick up on impact. In some cases, they can even overpressure Medium or even Heavy Tanks.
The big question is: Is this tank Pay to Win?

I was playing in a match where calliopes where sitting on our cap and bombarding the enemy caps from over the horizon of some hills. It was awesome. I spent most of the game just spawned into a AA to guard and watch

All I can say about this thing is that it fights like a modern IFV with unguided rockets. High Survival rate against small bombs.

So the idea behind these rockets was to provide light artillery fire support for infantry outside of the range of base artillery while on patrol in the Vietnam War. The racks were taken from the UH-1 Iroquois aerial rocket artillery version, also armed with an automatic 40mm grenade launcher ( currently I'm building a model kit of this Heuy,) when they were replaced.They were never intended to be used against armour,more bunkers and infantry fighting positions. Only a few Pershing were converted and weren't very effective, helicopter gunship support being the better option.

I got this thing for around 1,700 GE. Idk I love it so much. I usually fire off the top rack for survivability reasons. I get kills with the rockets on Panther’s all the time by shooting under them. It’s probably my best performing tank other than the jagdpanther.

The spectator cam is (kinda) fine. You just have to swing your mouse down so much that the camera rotates around the tank and is on top again. Always had the same issue but then I found this out :)

I've gathered that he hates fighting Sweden because they have cannons that are delete buttons on wheels. He likes playing them but there really aren't any planes to provide support in the tech tree at most BRs, which is his bread and butter for tanks without trolly armor. I think it's the same case for China, most of their tanks are loaned from Russia or US until higher BRs, and their planes don't have decent lineups. Italy really only shines with its glass cannon cars and their buffed-up .50 cal fighters that scorch fighters out of the sky. But I think overall he would say that the under-played nations are that way because there are just too many BR gaps where there just isn't a decent lineup

I won the Calliope out the day 14 login reward. Right around the corner, XMAS sale arrived. Bought 7k golden eagles I think and all American vehicles were half off. Effectively got the M26 T99 For 20% of the original price, because the Calliope was the biggest setback, and it was half off with a GE sale.
