8th gen i7 is still a really capable cpu for gaming nowadays

Definitely and for the £65 you can pick it up for at CEX I’d say a bargain too. Free is better though 💪🏼

8th gen was rushed out the door because Ryzen finally released and crushed productivity workflows. It really fired up the core wars. Sucked for anyone that bought 7th gen just months earlier that year. Given that history, it'd be great to compare it to it's slightly older sibling the 7700 series and/or similarly priced or core count Zen and/or Zen+ in the newest titles. Of course if you need to sell it on, it is completely understandable. If doing so just pair a better GPU with it IMO.

Yeah 1st gen Ryzen caught Intel with there pants down but I still value an i7 4790 over a Ryzen 1600 in gaming even with the extra cores. I don’t think Intel really caught up till 10th gen.

@@andystech101 Ryzen IPC was much better than FX but yesh, Intel was still ahead there. But no way would I take Devils Canyon over OG Zen. The platform is WAY more important than the CPU. AM4 is the GOAT.

Yeah it’s got some potential but it has more as parts, gpu/psu for a cheap build and pair the rest with a 3060 or RX6600

A re-case and some rgb and it's a decent budget flip system, the Ionz cube case in white would modernise things and look the part!

Yes the case is definitely a let down, I may recase that dual Xeon server in this case and do something nicer with this, have a couple of Msi cases that need using

That's a decent PC to get as a labor payment (I suppose that would be labour in the UK, huh? I'm just a goofy yank). As is, you could probably move it along, without any problems - some kid would be happy with that, unless they are intent on Starfield I guess ;) I really don't like the lighting, personally - it seems, like, a decade older than the PC honestly - I recently got a 2006 Antec case with build in LEDs that looks more, um, modern... It just seems really... stark and stuff... I look forward to your new editing regime - though I never had a problem with the old one either, brother.

Hi mate yes agreed on the lighting, maybe it’s worth spending £25 to jazz the case up with some fans etc just to bring it into 2023? Shame having that white GPU and not making it pop. No Labours not that good in the UK well not what I charge so it owes me £50/£75 in time maybe so not bad at all. I was using Shotcut before which was great but really basic so it’s nice to have some more features like the graphics in the benchmarks 😎

I'd consider that high spec compared to my i7 4790\GTX 1070 set up. I'd gladly put a couple of hours effort into building somebody's PC if that was the payment.

Yes definitely but it’s £250 easy cash? If I spend £200 on a case and gpu what’s it worth £450? Still £250 profit that’s why I’m torn.

Good video. I am not sure about putting "FREE" in the video title. Lots of lazy beggars will be asking if they can have it. You should be able to sell it as a 1080 starter pc.

Hi andy can you sell me the i7 cpu ? I have a old i3 8350k system with a gtx 1060 and 16gb ram but the system struggles these days because of the 4 cores 4 threads cpu the i7 were a nice upgrade

It’s a really good little chip and not one I’d really looked at before especially when it goes for £60/£70 here on the UK and I’d prefer it over the i7 9700 any day. Have you considered going with a V2 Xeon? Something like the E3 1240 v2? Same as an i7 but about £8/£10

@@andystech101 actually yes… I have my eyes on that precise chip. Benchmarks suggests I should get over 20% better performance in games . Thing is they are ungodly expensive in Venezuela (around $40). I can have it for $18 from eBay US, and can have it shipped on a moving box (along a lot other things )
