Humans can't hear it with our ears, but it can't even be recorded and played back in a tone that we can hear?
@HayMax22
@HayMax22 Жыл бұрын
It could be digitally pitch-shifted, but then it would be played back in a frequency that isn't original. So technically no...but kind of? Don't know if that helps answer...

@@OversteerAllDay It's still there. They don't show the count for it, but the thumbs down button right beside the thumbs up still. The only thing I think the like/dislike does is just help the system know what to recommend to you, that's all. I don't think it helps or hurts a channel like most people seem to think it does.

@@HayMax22 And that is false! Search KZbin for alligator calls!
@HayMax22
@HayMax22 Жыл бұрын
@@awkonradi I've heard gator mating calls before, in person. What this video is referring to are frequencies lower than we as humans can hear. It's referred to as infrasonic sound, or simply, infrasound. In addition to the audible noise they make, they are also producing frequencies which are so low and massively long in wavelength, they are capable of traveling extremely far distances across multiple mediums. Those are the frequencies which are causing the water to vibrate the most, as they are demonstrating in the video. Many aquatic animals use such frequencies, but we've also discovered that many land animals and birds also use them for communication.
@awkonradi

@@HayMax22 So much blah, blah, blah. I stand firm, this video would be better with the natural audio, instead of the music.
@HayMax22
@HayMax22 Жыл бұрын
@@awkonradi I'm sorry you've been left disappointed, sir. Hopefully NatGeo can peak your interest in another video. As an audio engineer, I found this very interesting! But to each his own. Maybe they didn't want to mislead anyone into thinking what they were audibly hearing (had they presented the actual mating calls) was what was causing the water vibrations? 🤷‍♂️ Edit: upon listening closer with the volume louder, some of the calls can indeed be heard.
