Finding it odd that companies don’t see how annoyed so many of us are at ‘maximum hold’ ‘long-lasting hold’ type gels with glycerin so high up in the ingredients….do they really not see the pattern we all see?? 😅 or are they joking? I completely understand that there’s a number of ladies that prefer the softer hold/no crunch gels. So let them have theirs and let others use the true blue strong hold gels. *Market them accordingly.* Lines used to do that, perhaps someone could enlighten on what’s wrong with that model 🤷🏽‍♀️

I feel the same way! Idk why these brands are soooooo big on glycerin for styling products. I don't mind it for a deep conditioner but anything I am using to style my hair is a no. I guess they think people just want moisture since glycerin is a humectant, but I want definition and hold too! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts 🫶🏾❤️

@@NJEberhart Exactly. Before all these glycerin heavy stylers, you just layer however much moisturizer/leave-in you needed, for the moisture:hold ratio you wanted. Idk if they think we’re saving a step with the humectant already being there or what. Cuz now the glycerin stylers are even less effective with leave-ins/moisturizers. It was a great theory for saving time, but the reality is that you get neither hold nor moisture when it all comes down to it. With layering products, all you had to do was wait for the cast to weaken and your hair was still soft and moisturized. These glycerin stylers just dry out the hair faster.

They must have changed the ingredients? The current ingredients list online for the gel doesn’t have any glycerin or honey at all, but there is sorbitol which is a humectant.

@@sylmarie Correct. Glycerin, sorbitol, all humectant heavy ingredients at the top of list all cause the same issues that aren’t consistent with marketing styling products as ‘hard’ ‘super’ ‘max’ ‘extended’ hold. Nor do they aid in moisture retention.

I too think that they changed the ingredients. On the ulta website, I didn't recognise the ingredients. I live in the Caribbean and with high porosity hair, glycerin is a no no for me. Honey too, just terrible. When your hair says no to these ingredients, it means no!

Girly I’m so sorry! Glycerin is my literal opp so I make sure I scan every product thoroughly 😭 . At this point I just stick to miche gels lol . Your hair is still beautiful as always!!❤❤🎉

The one time I was checking for Curls was when I tried the Blueberry Bliss Jelly. Never again. That stuff held NOTHING. Water would've been better than that stuff. I don't even look at the products when I'm in the store lol. I have very coily type 4 hair btw.

Hey love 😊. I actually used to use and love the Blueberry Bliss way back in the day. Tried it recently and it was just ok. Not sure if there was a formula change or what. But for me I like the jelly more than this gel. If you don't like the jelly then you would hate this gel lol. Thanks for watching!❤️

I don't have issues with glycerine, but Curls products have always been a no for me. I can't stand the original gel and shampoo. My hair cussed me out for trying Curls products.

Kandi’s Kinks layered it with the Miche Set Mousse…. Probably blocked the glycerin from doing too much damage lol

This may be another gel that my hair will like. Usually, when your hair doesn't like a gel it works out great for me.🤣🤣 I don't need any gel currently, but I'll check it out when I do. UFD is one of my favorites because it has a medium hold. When I was shampooing once a week it held for the whole week. Now that I shampoo twice it's still my first choice.

Wait. I’m mad. I read the ingredients on the site and there was no glycerin in the gel… so I bought two!!! 😩😩 I haven’t used it yet and haven’t looked at the jar yet… but I need to now because I looked very intently at the ingredients because my hair HATES glycerin. I will be upset if the label on the site is different than what’s on the jar… and the customer service is not good, at all… so I won’t even bother contacting them. 🥴🙄

It’s so cloppy I also did not like the smell. I am pretty sure I only used it twice after watching someone on KZbin to see if I did it right. Agree it’s a NO!

My hair hates glycerin! It does the same thing, I have no definition when glycerin is in the top list of ingredients! And my hair totally dries out! I have only found a couple stylers that have no glycerin but they really work well! Team 🚫 glycerin!

KandiKinks used the gel with Miche’s foam to gel mousse. Maybe that would change results if you already have the mousse. But I hate sticky gels so maybe not.

Oh no! 😮 The hair, the face, the frustration. It has been a long time since you have had such bad results from a product styler. Never for Curls until they go back to a chemist to reformulate. Come on Curls do better. This is what my hair looked like before learning about glycerin effects.

Maybe this might work as a base for TRUE hard hold gels. I use and LOVE Uncle Funky's Daughter Curly Magic, which has Glycerin in the first 5, under hard hold gels. My hair doesn't do well with Glycerin either but I've found ways to use and get the benefits from products with it. The other thing i have to say is throughout my entire 15 + year natural hair journey, I've never tried a CURLS product that I used in its entirety and repurchased.

Yes boo. Her styling products do NOT work for my hair either and I have 3c/4a and it’s 3b in the front. Nope. The only products by Curls my hair can stan is her leave ins and the hair milks, everything else, to me is horrible. I seen strands come out with the blueberry hair masque. SMH.

Would the products be better for twists, a twist out or twaid out??? What if u did the leave in with the adwoa melonberry gel or the miche gel? Those gels got some crunch Glycerin moisturizes and its been my new slept on holy grail for remoisturizing mid week.

You should! I live in the Caribbean and was hesitant at first since I can’t use glycerin with these temperatures. I think maybe it’s the way it was formulated cause girl! I get a whole week out of my wash n go. It works similar to Miche’s tropical oasis for me.
