In this episode of Cesar 911, I head to Temecula to meet this German Shepherd Rottweiler Mix. Brody is a ranch dog with a knack to attack. He previously killed 4 goats all in one night and now is attacking the horses and other ranch animals. Brody’s past may be the reason for his ins insecurity and defensive nature as he was abandoned.

These things are extremely rare, there's 300,000,000 people in the US and they find just enough of these people to fill a season each year, probably more now that dogs are just getting more and more common. Imo you should have to take a basic theory test like a drivers license to own a dog, nothing crazy, just a multiple choice on what you should do in certain situations, if they get more than 3 of out 50 wrong then they need to take the test again.

How do the owners allow this to continue? Why does the sister have to be the one to ask for help? Putting the dog in an enclosure doesnt solve the problem, it just separates it. Rather than considering putting the dog down, how about training and taking charge of the dog?

I mean, can't really know a dogs going to attack/kill large livestock until it does.. Some dogs will be 100% fine UNTIL they know nobody's around to stop them. Example, I have 2 female pitbulls that are extremely dog aggressive. If I'm right there, they'll get along all day, play, snuggle eachother & my oldest one will even play with other dogs as long as I'm there. When I go to work though, I have to separate them until I'm back home because they'll kill eachother once I leave.

@@laurafratoni7931 Depends what you consider "crazy" I guess.. I grew up with pitbulls & never had any bad experience with any of them.. Some couldn't be around many other dogs, if any at all.. But, I wouldn't consider that crazy... just a trait they were bred for. No different than any other breed with specific breed traits/instincts..

This one was so dope! That dog looked so happy! My GSD NEEDED a job. He was never so happy as when I made it his job to carry the stick. The heavier and bigger the stick the more struggle but the more happy he became. That was his job. If he dropped the stick....sometimes a dang whole tree branch or log, I made him go get it and bring it with us. People may say it is stupid and simple. For the dog it was purpose and created a deeper bond. Thanks GOD. I will always have Cesar to teach me and remind me of my dog Champion. I even bought the Cesar backpack for him and filled the pockets full of sand. It was then I realized how important and what responsibility I had to give him that gift of being a contributing member of my pack.

Saving a dog is noble and commendable. Having said that, this dog is not a farm protector, there are breeds meant for that. They should have looked up a rescue that specializes in LGDs - there are plenty of those.

This is one dog I would just never leave alone with other animals on the farm….not worth the risk..BUT, using him to help with chores is perfect. He does need an actual job but he is by no means a livestock guardian.

Depends on what you call "hopeless" really... I see allot of people who go out & get pitbulls & then act surprised when it wants to kill their other dogs.. Can't always "train" it out of them either because it's not something they're taught or trained to do, it's just their genetic instincts that tell them they need to attack/fight other dogs. Same way a hound dogs genetics make them naturally want to track/hunt things or a cattle dog that naturally herds things.. can't train or love genetics out of a dog!!

Those are the ones ge takes from fami.ies keeps at the DPC long term, and some eventually get new homes, some stay as part of the pack. He's had episodes where a woman has tried exchanging g dogs and " none" work for her. Yet her " naughty " original dog went to a new home a yr later and did very well.

dog killed one goat and was still very aggressive it would have been given to the dog pound. injuried your horses and you still kept the dog and did nothing to protect our animals. i find this very unacceptable this woman is stupid.

All Cesar is doing is handling the riskiest part which is the first introduction back to other animals, you need to do exactly what Cesar is doing, the dog isn't being "fixed" you need to take the responsibility of raising a dog, if he's doing something you don't like you need to click your fingers, or whatever you do to correct something and over the course of a few weeks you'll have a well behaved dog, it isn't hard work you're just not doing any of it.

Rottweilers were originally bred to pull carts, so the job is a natural for Bodie. Me, I think the person who let a Rottweiler breed with a German shepherd is a real fool - combining two powerful, sometimes dangerous dogs and not knowing what the resulting personality will be.

This dog is a powerful breed (Shepherd/Rottweiler mix). He needs a job. If no constructive job is assigned to him, he'll find one on his own. In his case, it was a destructive one. Glad to see the outcome!
