This is the story of a young girl named Fatima, who was born and raised in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, but was forced to move to Yemen 6 years ago.
While most civilians in Yemen are doing everything they can to flee this horrific situation, she has done the opposite. She went from living in a modern and peaceful country to an impoverished and dangerous one, and it's been difficult for her to adapt.
Can you imagine being trapped in Yemen after growing up in an advanced society in Riyadh? As much as she wants to leave to study, she must wait until the situation clears up and the borders/airports reopen.
This video also explains her perspective on what must be done for Yemen to overcome this disaster and go back to how life used to be 10 years ago. It's a fascinating interview and I enjoyed hearing her thoughts. I hope you do too.

I lived in Yemen, aden and when I was in 4th grade I went to Europe and now I live in Finland I never knew there was war in yemen until 2 weeks ago my teacher asked where I was born I said Yemen but I am Somali and he told me there was war in Yemen and i was shocked and he was shocked that I didnt knew there was war also now I am 15 in 9th I pray for my brothers and sisters to be safe in Yemen.

Fatima, your English is absolutely amazing! You speak with a fluency that is usually only obtained by someone who has lived in an English speaking country for a period of time. I am really very impressed. I have a question. You mentioned the grid going down and having blackout periods with the electricity. I know there are shortages of many commodities, but immediately I wondered if people are trying to install solar panels and batteries for backup to the main grid? I know the solar panels and converters may not be readily available, but with the amount of sunlight in Yemen it just seems so natural to use solar energy! In Bangladesh, we have no wear or other problems. But we have electricity problem... It's common for all of us having load sheding for couple of hours.. But we are improving this situation day by day...
