In the summer, it can be hard to get finicky bass to bite. That's when it pays to show them something different when out bass fishing. In this video, we'll look at an overlooked presentation that can really impact your fishing on those hot summer days. It might look goofy, but it sure does get those bass' attention! #fishing #bassfishing #fishingtips

When it comes to the summer grind of bass fishing, which do you prefer: burning a crank or dragging a worm/jig?

I was pleased to hear you mention crimping the barbs. It really does make a difference when the hook gets down there by the gullet, in making it easier to remove. I actually crimp every barb on every hook and bait that I have. Since I am a catch and release bass angler, I want to do as little damage as possible to the fish. Great video!

Great confirmation.. I literally just thought of doing this a few days ago. Now that I saw your video, I know that it is a great idea. Not sure why I never thought of it. Takes the place of having multiple worm rods set up for different styles. Great information as always. Love your channel. Thank you sir.

I've seen fish hit an unpainted cedar plug that was freshly whistled. My grandpa told me about a 5lb bass he caught because he saw it break on a walnut that fell out of a tree, so he cast at the same spot and hooked it almost as soon as it touched the water

I've seen similar things but with plums. Bass will go after just about anything in the right situations.

Great to hear you talk about gut hooking. I close all of my barbs no matter what application i am using . I absolutely hate gut hooking a fish. A good removal tool works well with closed barbs as well.

I’m interested in seeing how you make your stick worms with salt. What plastic you use, mold, what kind of salt and how finely ground, etc. Have you ever considered injecting baits like the ones you mention in this video like the rage bug, craw, or beaver?

Reminds me of the "mojo" rig. I take 2 bobber stops and put a small 5/16 oz bullet weight or 1/8 oz in between. Adjust the weight to whatever distance above the soft plastic. Finesse worms on a 1/0 ewg work good. You could use whatever bait really.

Mojo rig is another name for it. Same thing as far as I know.

A Carolina rig is one of my favorite techniques for water in the 10 to 30 foot range. You are right about gut hooking fish with it though. Gotta be careful about that.

I fish a lake that is NOTHING but grass, Lilly Pads and weeds. These things are 5 to 6ft tall. How do you fish that type of situation, where skies are sunny, temperature is about 75 degrees, in the middle of a low pressure system, and water clarity is only about six inches, or would you fish a drop shot or swim bait? Let me add water temperature is about 55-65 degrees, it's a spring fed lake.
@LowBrowFishing
@LowBrowFishing 6 күн бұрын
For something like that, I'll probably turn to a topwater frog to start. A bladed jig can also work very well as they come through weeds better than guys give them credit for. Swim jigs are also a great options.

I have a lot of very thick submerged milfoil and hydrilla, how does it do through thick vegetation?
@LowBrowFishing
@LowBrowFishing 6 күн бұрын
It does great. The bullet weight slips through the slop and the bait is Texas rigged so it's about as weedless as it can get. You'll still feel the vegetation pulling on the weight, but you can just pop it through with no problem. Also you can keep a little slack in your line and just slowly raise your rod tip to pull the rig up and over any thick vegetation.
