I lived this over 30 years ago. Decades later when I hear this song I cry. My folks were totally against the relationship and I was close to my parents, but I loved him so much I couldn't stop. Only difference is I lost our baby while I was in college and didn't have a chance to tell him. He died in a car accident a few days later. Lost them both and never did have kids. I still miss him today. When I first saw this video, it dropped me to my knees.

Seven years ahead and her song "the girl you think I am" is the same thing for me. Country music always tells a story and it has some of the best stories of all time.

It's crazy how I think about these things. People always feel bad about the person who died but I feel worse for the one who lost that person. People are pretty prepared in life to lose parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles etc. But there are 2 things that nothing can prepare you to lose and that's your significant other unless your really old and your children. I cant imagine any worse feeling in the world. The important message here is dont have unspoken words. Tell your loved ones regularly how much they mean to you because if you dont and they have this world you may have a very hard time living with that. Great reaction guys.

Man. The story at the end reminds me so much of my grandparents. My grandpa had surgery to remove cancer. Due to diabetes and low blood pressure, they had complications during surgery and sent him to a rehab facility. Two days into his rehab, my memaw (who also had stage 4 lung cancer) was hospitalized due to her cancer spreading. They both spent two weeks in treatment & both were going downhill fast. They didn’t see one another that entire time and that was especially hard for my grandpa. He had Alzheimer’s and couldn’t remember why memaw hadn’t been to see him. He felt neglected. Anyways, the same day- we received calls that both of them were being released to hospice, as there was nothing left to be done. Memaw went first. Papaw entered a coma 2 days after her funeral. He woke from his coma after several more days and asked my mom, “where is my wife?” My mom reminded him that memaw was gone & he said “if my wife isn’t in this room, would you mind putting my boots on? I’m walking until I see her again.” She laced his boots up, kissed him goodbye, he went to sleep and never woke up again. I guess he found her.

Listened to this song day in and day out for a year after my best friend was murdered. We spoke that night about the night we met. How that night changed our lives. I ALMOST asked him to come over that night cause I missed him. I never did. And 12 hours later I got the call. A friend of mine, who grew up with him and was best friends with him as well... Called me and broke the news. I don't remember the rest of that day. He died 07/12/2012 That pain was so unreal. It's 8.5 years later and I still think of him every day to this day. And I'm married with kids now.

The power of Love is without a doubt the most powerful force on the planet. Years ago i lost my grandfather and afterwards stayed with my grandmother to help her after her loss. I listened to her cry herself to sleep for almost a year until she too passed almost a year later. Broken hearts are real and it is hard to see in todays world, with so many being together for convenience. It's heartbreaking to hear about and even more so to witness. I've been with my man for 20 years and he was hit by a car while getting our dog that was hit and killed by another car. This happened jan 6 and he is in a coma. It is a horrible experience I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. Our 3 kids and I are struggling every day hoping he comes home soon. We need him.
