I lived in Alaska. Dressing is a challenge for sure. It will really depend on the ports you are visiting. I suggest looking on a weather app and see what the temperature is for the ports. When family and friends would visit me I always suggest dressing in layers. Bring a rain coat, waterproof shoes, sun screen, a few pairs of wool socks if you are hiking or if it rains. I would also suggest binoculars if you have room to pack them and extra sd cards for your pictures. Bring a backpack to carry the extra clothing, rain coat and whatever else you may need. It's a beautiful state.

I'm so glad you got that tooth removed. You're right, everything is so much worse when you're in pain. I'm grateful I got my wisdom teeth pulled when I was in high school and covered by my parents' insurance. Linda, I am a knitter and love it! I'm in Texas and it's even hotter and more humid where I am than in The Villages, so I use a lot of cotton, linen, and bamboo yarns. I would love a nice cozy wool sweater, but it would only be worn like 3 days a year here. One of my favorite yarn stores is in Winter Haven, Florida - Four Purls yarn store. I order from them online. Knitting is really meditative and has helped me lower my blood pressure. :)

When it comes to hobbies I’m into machine embroidery and sewing. I have framed several machine embroidered pictures and I will send you one after you come back from your cruise. The embroidered picture has two sandhill cranes displayed. I also knit & crochet on the side and do sublimation on cups/tumblers & tiles.

In Ohio, the going rate for housekeepers is $25-$30 an hour. I have a young lady that is very, very thorough, once a month for 3 hours. I tackle the jobs I can easily do and save the hard jobs for this once a month cleaner. She also does all my floors. She works alone and works fast. This works for me now. I am age 80 and a widow, so I don’t climb on ladders any more. A broken hip at any age can be deadly!

Hi Jerry and Linda. How fun to watch this video even if it's not live! I like to listen to the thunderstorms, but our roof was damaged badly in a hailstorm in 2021. Had to have it replaced. So it does happen in this area. Have you tried Rodello's yet? I sent you a short video question last week, that may not be relevant, but I learned how to condense it to send so that was good. Tipping is not usual in most countries. I get very confused when visiting USA. If I go on a ship tour some people tip the guide who has been paid by the shipping company that sets the price. If I hire a private guide they set the price but I feel obliged to pay more. In some countries it is considered insulting to tip, Japan and China for example. Google gives some indication. I feel I have to carry a lot of cash.

That is a tough one. If ideal situation would be your employer pays it until you get on medicare.

@JERRYANDLINDA right....I worked a government job but the dept was toxic so I resigned after 7 years. If I could've done 10 years, then my health insurance would've been paid on their part for life. So I just keep working for now. Not sure how to get past the health insurance issue. Just keep working, just keep working...until I'm dead I guess.
