Dude, you can see the tablature for any chord on a guitar without all these trouble. The tab shows the 6 strings, the numer of the frets and the finger positioning. But the same chord can be played in diferent spots as there are tonal variations along the scale and that is the part that is really dificult to mimic on a plugin... :) And you do mute strings that don't have a note with fingers :)

quick tip, when youre reducing the available notes down to a 5 range, you should leave the open string notes. because guitarists dont always have a finger on the string :) gives you more options

Don’t forget you can incorporate open strings into pretty much any chord played anywhere along the neck. Also, playing higher up on the neck essentially increases the range. So lower chords you may have a range of 3 frets but up the neck you can cover 5+ This is a great video and really got me thinking about this

The lower notes in Ample guitars activate articulations. That’s where you’ll find your slide articulation that you were looking for. I’m a guitarist and I love Ample’s software. Been using it for years. You gotta check out their bass guitars, especially the upright.

Great video, something else to note is the most common guitar voicing is 1 5 1 3 5 1 so it would be a great default to go for , it's used for E, A, D open and your barre chords, but for G C F open they are 1 3 5 1 3 1 but alot of people change the second 3 to a 5 making it easier to use things like minor and sus chords, and for 7th chords we go for 1 X 7 3 5 X or X 1 5 7 3 X If anyone give a shirt I could happily keep rambling

So many guitar players flexing in the comments, but I am really grateful you shared this. As an intermediate guitar player who picked up producing and piano rolls later, I've often found myself trying to figuring out in my head how to get a guitar voicing for piano chord I drew out. I never thought to block out the available notes like you did. It really makes it easier to visually keep track of which strings you've already selected a note for. Even if you could do this in your head or through a different method, going through these steps really trains one's brain to recognize how pianos are similar to and different from pianos. I've found playing different instruments and reading different kinds of sheet music and tablature and mapping them to each other has improved my musical creativity. Also, some here are overstating the role of muted strings. It is a technique, maybe it's important to their pro play vs my amateur play, but a lot of the time while strumming, you hit those other strings. I think including them in your piano roll chords will give you a more authentic sound. You could set the velocity on the muted strings really low.

Yes it may be easier to play the guitar, but if you have FL and the plugins and not the instrument and have no interest in learning the instrument I think this works. You think? I think the exact opposite. After I've put an effects pedal like BiasFX on, my lower notes sound beautiful but anything in the upper range tend towards unrealistic. Even more so with an electric guitar. Maybe it's a stylistic/psychological thing

When you were starting on the B as a root note, unless it's a barr chord, you would use the B on the 2nd strig which is the 2nd Frett.

Play 4ths and 5ths. If you play 2 notes om the same string just change the midi channel of that note. Amplesound, Evolution guitars etc. Will have the MIDI guitar feature to do this. You just need a DAW that supports it like Reaper.

Synchronicity nope you could do that if you wanted to ,it’s not that rare to make a modulation like that. He’s switching from Bm to a Gm here, which is fine because both keys have the common chord of Bm, being the dominant minor in the key of D (Bm) and the submediant of Gm. You can find this transition in movie soundtracks to the point where it’s almost clichéd.

Also another thing that makes it sound really natural, is offsetting the notes for a full chord to be strummed by just a little bit. When you strum a full chord, you strum 1 string at a time, and not all at 1 time (since that's physically impossible). This, and changing the velocity of each note hit, makes the chords sound real natural.

Most people tune to EADGBE, but you could transpose each notes range to give off a different vibe. Ichika Nito does a lot of short songs with different tunings. He made one with DECADE tuning for example.

Part of the reason why guitar sounds the way it does is because some chords involve open strings (non-fretted notes), which sound different from fretted notes. The open strings will often ring longer than fretted ones. So I suppose you’d have to get into different sustain lengths for open vs. fretted notes.

most of time you use downstrokes, but if you play an eighth note or even a sixteenth note you use upstroke. so you have to reverse the order of the strokes edit: on guitar a chord can only consist of 4 notes, because you only have 4 fingers to fret, using your thumb would be very difficult

Logic Pro has a stock midi FX Chord Trigger with a built in "guitar voicing" trigger. Combine that with the midi FX Arpeggiator + record the midi via external instrument and you'll have some great melodies you can tweak.

Thanks for this video. My honest opinion however is most listeners who don’t play guitar can’t tell if you’re programming in a chord that would be physically impossible to execute on a real guitar. Of course it all depends on the type of music you’re writing but I think as long as you don’t just play every chord in root position like you would have on the piano, you play a few notes an octave higher or lower than your hand can reach on the piano, and you make some effort to try inversions it will sound pretty decent.
