The Pirates Online nostalgia is something I didn't know I needed until you had given it to me. I still remember saving up to get a bigger ship and the huge fights that would break out. It didn't feel like an mmo. I was never worried about end game gear or anything like that. Don't think I ever even finished most of the quests cause I would get to an island for some goal just to end up meeting someone new that I'd go on an adventure with. Broke my heart when my dad broke up with his girlfriend (divorced not cheating) cause I knew she was taking her laptop and my game with her and there would be no more living like Luffy from one piece. By the time I got my own pc I forget it even existed. Thank you kind sir, for digging up such fond memories for me.

Pirates of the Carribean Online!!! Thank you for mentioning that Exiled Ranger! That was my first real mmo experience. Loved it as a kid. First mmo that I got to max level in. Nixxiom, you should give it a shot sometime. There is a private server for it called Legend of Pirates of Online.

I wanted to like it but ultimately I just don't think the engine it runs on is good. Makes the game look ugly and it doesn't feel great to play either.

I have a few hundred hours in SWTOR and I love it. It's the only MMO I can just turn my brain off and have a good time. All the stories are 10/10 and I can't recommend this MMO enough.

For a new player (lvl 22 sith juggernaut) is it worth it to buy premium for 1 month to get the dlc permanently and more permanent perks?

@@AnotherHaloGamer I 100% would. You get a lot of character slots and a whole lot of story and content. I would focus and try to get things like bank and storage tabs while subbed and some Q.O.L. stuff in the legacy menu like rocket boots and moving while mounting so when your sub runs out you have all that stuff. You can just sub again when you feel like it.

I tried swtor by myself, thought the... counselor (basically the jedi mage class) would be fun. It was, enjoyed the story as well, but I got to the first major city and tried to learn professions, only to find that they were locked behind a paywall. Like, I'm not going to invest time and money into a game when it's just me playing it. Now, if I can convince my friends to play... that'll never happen, not with BG3 fresh out the gates.

Back when swtor released the outdoor content was way more challenging and made progressing any side quest or main story way more rewarding than now.

Completely agree, it felt like a much larger game as well. Now you just do the main story to progress and lvl so quickly and the gear doesn't really level with you because of this. Is the major downside for me as I liked the actual mmo feel of having to do side quests taking part in the worlds available. Now you can easily skip it all and it is now more or so a single player game. It's a shame as now really it's only flashpoints and raids where you can more so Interact with people.

I started with 4Story. 4Story was my first MMO and i loved it, until i found out that there were other MMOs out there. But in 4Story, i had a big Community (back in the old days) and it was fun hanging out with these people. Chatting and running arround. It was a fun time, and still today i have the music of the Starter Area in my head. And a small part of me is missing this game, even if i know that it is and was crap.

I have been fortunate enough to play many MMOs over the years, starting with The Realm and Ultima Online although SWTOR is the one I have played the most (beta player). Cool concept to bring in other players and get the perspectives from different MMO games. As a platform, the MMO has a ton to offer and can be quite immersive.

As someone who loves SWTOR and the community it really sucks how little the devs do. The player base does way more to keep the game alive than the game itself. The late update was the first one that did not include full voice acting in the main story, I can only assume this will get worse which I think is heresy for SWTOR. They overuse aliens and robots so they don't have to pay a voice actors. Kind of heresy for a game like this. One update every six months that is pretty short is not enough. Got really into decorating until I realized that pretty much every decoration they put out is just two previous decorations put together or just the same deco under a different name. It's a game with high burnout where people play for a month than come back maybe in 4-6 months. Also omg I DO NOT MISS GEARING MY COMPANIONS. Can you imagine with all we have now?

swtor was rad when it came out, I played it for a bit. Honestly some of the best pvp in an mmo imho. Huttball was amazing, their cc DR system was solid and a better approach than wow imho. And all the fully voice acted questlines were awesome

Yeah that pirates game killed Toontown online which was a great game. It was for kids but toontown online was what My husband and I played. Then we went to Maplestory then someone we knew from Toontown was playing world of warcraft so we played there a bit. Then I came back to WoW after a few years and have been playing for years.

325 days, 7 hours on my main that's existed since launch. I checked on my newer trooper character and he had just over 24 hours. So between all my characters.... I have spent a LOT of time in this game. But I've also been playing since Early Start in 2011. And the 3 betas I was in before the game launched don't count, certainly. I'd say I need to get a life... but I have one! Traveling, hiking, etc. I guess this much play time is what comes from not playing many other games besides SWTOR. The only one I really dabble in besides is World of Warships.

I never played Vanilla WoW.. But I played BC and beyond. I had fun back then with BC and Wrath etc, but I tried classic(both of them) and I just wasn't having any fun, it was too slow paced for me now. Im not trashing Classic because it was a great idea, for those who like slow paced stuff. I have to stick to retail because it's all just a lot more fast paced.. Also I have over 24000 hours in WoW alone. lol.

It's really hard to believe i have that many hours, And no telling how much cash I spent on the game past Subscription price. I have 25 characters right now with 859 Days played, but i've deleted 23 characters, and I know I had accumulated over 100 hours on at least 2 of those. so 24000 is actually a lowball number.

I love SWTOR, but the market is total shit! Otherwise it is amazing. Nixx i completely agree with you on the balance crying! Having characters that can easily take out this class but this other one can take out this one. Not everyone needs the same kit. It's what makes it boring to me. Uniqueness / class skills is gone.

same for us wow players really, it seems like retail is coming to the end of its lifespan at this point, and it aint lookin good for AAA games in general nowadays. The words "Cata classic" were said ironically after the initial classic private server debacle happened and blizz anounced official classic, but there are so many old games being "remastered" now aka cashed in on. I'm sick of it. Back to Turtle and Warmane for me until I get sick of it again, or I get lured back in with the shiny new xpac like a damn crackhead

People only started leaving WoW after they saw what Cataclysm was gonna be and then went "f**k this, I'm out" and the subs went from 12.5 million and plummeted to like 5 million. I was one of those. Summer 2009 I quit WoW for the first timeI didn't come back until Patch 5.4, which was the last patch in MoP and it was to level up my characters for WoD. in hindsight that was a mistake. in between that time I was waiting for SWTOR and then eventually playing SWTOR. I quit SWTOR the first time because they decided to nerf all the classes I enjoyed played into the ground because Bioware were Marauder and Sentinal lovers, no other class should come close to them in damage and Bioware made sure of it. I preferred playing Mercenary and Sniper. anyways, so yeah, they nerfed both of those into the ground so I quit and went back to WoW.

According to altoholic I have 1.421 days on all my horde toons (with 669 days on my warlock alone which was my main from vanilla to bfa) and 65 days on all my alliance toons. So this guys's 416 days isnt that remarkable. I dont know how many hours Ive invested into Swtor. I loved the sorcerer story so much I leveled several of them. But after finishing all class storylines and the story of the eternal empire, the new story just didnt really interest me. It felt so tiny compared to everything before. I was done with the stories in two days. Occasionally I check in to look at my fortress on tattooine but thats it. Its a shame what became of the game.

It was fun IF you were already level 60 with good talent setup or level 70 going straight into wotlk. Level 1 to 59 was trash. It was still classic quest design, slow pace, and zero people around cause everyone else is in northrend. Even I quit multiple times during the 1 to 59 range. Stuck around once I got Titans Grip as a warrior.

(The sequel trilogy was genuinely not very good or thought out. @@YumiiSauce Yeah, because every movie and TV show that ever exists has to win countless awards, get 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, and have Game of Thrones level narratives to be "good" these days. People just cant accept that not every show is produced at the level that Foundation, Game of Thrones or other critically acclaimed shows that costs millions of dollars per episode is. Not to be one of those people like "Ree you're not a real star wars fan because you don't like what I like", but all of these SW medias we've gotten target very different, niche narratives within the SW universe right? (I didn't enjoy Book of Boba or Kenobi) You can like or dislike some and not the others, but to outwardly claim that all of them are bad just tells me his consumption of SWTOR's entirely non-canon fanfic narratives (It wasn't canon even before Disney bought SW) clearly had an impact on his ability to consume an IP he claims to be a fan of. If he's actually sitting there saying SWTOR is one of the last bastions of Star Wars, a remnant of pre-Disney, then his entire understanding of what Star Wars is, is based on something that isn't even canon Star Wars.
