There's still lots of villages left which resemble 'traditional Malta' but I think it is fair to say that those from other country who wishes to live there or holiday there should respect the Maltese people and Malta itself.

It is always good to know about good people. Colin is such a great person. Truthful & helpful. Alex you have a very good quality that you intervene in your interview, only whenever it is necessary. My son is an editor. We live in India. I have been watching your interview about increasing rent in Malta. Your government is offering tax benefits to move to Malta but high rents are a big hurdle. He is confused. He wants a single room apartment but it seems it is not feasible as he is earning roughly $ 2500-3000 a month.

Hi Chris . As a 7 year old in 1971 I went on holiday from Leicester to Malta with parents and older brother and sister. Magical experience and loved Malta ever since . Stayed in a resort called Mistra village , no longer there anymore I believe and that’s so sad as I was hoping to go there and reminisce now I’ve retired . Loved to off had your experience of living there . Sadly for me we have very few pictures from mistra village . But still have the memories.

The lesson here, if you are going to be an expat, anywhere, plan, plan, plan and then plan again. If you don't it will go wrong. I have lived in Asia as an expat for the past 8 years, but that followed at least 10 years of planning. I like Malta very much. My family have holidayed there for many years, since my introduction to the place as a Military man in 1970, but I would never have considered moving there permanently. It is small, restrictive , it can be culturally challenging and it is very expensive. It also feels like living in one massive, badly planned built up area. It needs detail study and knowledge before committing to living there. Colin is right, because he's been through the mill.

Keep up the good work. People don’t know but blessings for these sort of generous people never goes unheeded. They are blessed by God who rewards. Hi, great interview, thanks! Never been to Malta, we are planning a holiday for the 5 of us (my wife and me, son and his girlfriend and my daughter) in November, but don't know where we should look to go in Malta. I'd like to be near the sea to swim, but within walking distance of shops, cafés, etc in a fairly typical Maltese area. We'd be after a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom place, with a good sit out area. If Colin or anyone here has any ideas that would be great! Many thanks for your help, Phil

There will be times when expatriates like Colin will not afford to live in Malta with just a pension. 95% of Maltese own their own house. The other 5% of Maltese (incl EU) nationals can apply for subsidise housing, however, such grants do not apply to third countries like the British. You cannot move to Malta without buying property. The trend in the 80s was that British people moved to Malta and bought cheap property, mostly unconverted farmhouses, and left the Island rich after selling them.

Yes Maltese people are kind but they are getting fed up too of the desrespect for their traditions, their culture and their space. Anything uncontrolled like this mass migration will and is destroying the stability of the Island.
@AlexinMalta Жыл бұрын
I agree to certain extend, but the problem is a lot of Maltese are benefiting from foreign people so they wont say anythijg till they make thousands of euros. Those Maltese that dont make money from foreigners are the one who are really fed up of the foreign migration
@myhappyplace718 Жыл бұрын
@@AlexinMalta I am not saying this because I am not doing money off of foreigners, if that is what you mean. My comment has nothing to do with jealousy or anything of the sorts. We all know the amount of greed that has taken over Malta starting from our hideous politicians. Maltese people have appreciated tourism always however anything uncontrolled like this mass migration that many times is happening illegally is what we are all fed up of. And besides, what about foreigners respecting our culture instead of many coming here and importing their own. If I come to your house I have to abide by your rules to give an example. That is why we are fed up. The Government's only plan for the economy is only importing people and more people and all our infrastructure and our space is becoming less and less. Well to give you an example, I saw your videos about your apartment. You may be comfortable on your own in it, however, would you still be comfortable in it if there are 10 more people with you there? I don't think so. Now take this latter example and apply it to tiny Malta and you will know what I mean. I lived here all my life and I can assure you 10 - 15 years ago life was fantastic here compared to the stressful, cluttered, overpopulated country you know.
@karlaparker7988 Жыл бұрын
I totally agree its very difficult. The UK too is a small Island completely blessed with good infrastructure, schools, health ect but we can't cope with so many unplanned with open borders. Nice interview Alex, this man was very informative. But I'm wondering on just how many more videos you can do on Malta. Most people that come to Malta are from countries where the life is not as good as Malta so things are starting to sound the same and they all have the same issues. I've been here since 2009 and have seen a drastic change. My reasons for coming to live here are much different than most people but I won't go into that. As far as I'm concerned I wouldn't advise anyone anymore to move to Malta unless you are very well off and can afford to go privately including schools, doctors and hospitals. I've had lots of experience with all those both public and private and the public is a nightmare. In your videos you really don't hear much negativity which I understand but I could write a book on that if I had the inclination. I know that's not what your videos are about though. Ok, enough of that. I do want to say that I just enjoy you and your videos very much and hope you can find many more ideas to cover these islands. ❤

And if you managed to put together that amount of money than it means you were not that bad and you were quite good in your country. Malta is not the new USA.
