The jump he got from going from a 1080 which still holds its own all things considered to a 7900 GRE is nuts not to mention he still has some wiggle room for a cpu upgrade in the future to an X3d cpu if he really wants to get the most out of AM4

I went from a intel 6700k and a Nvidia 1080 to a and 7800x3d and 7900xtx card. I was and still am blown away from the performance and image quality I now have. Big lesson I learnt is to only upgrade when I need to rather that cause I want to.

Just went to one in Saturday. Went in for an O11D Evo vertical GPU mount.... Walked out with the vertical GPU mount and 64gig of Trident z5 memory to add to my current 64gig of z5 memory 😐

FYI, I've purchased that same exact ASUS TUF power supply unit for my 4080super and I've had no issues with it delivering on the wattage and power. However, it is LOUD. Unlike every other fan in my pc, the power supply fan ramps HARD. Even in games like cyberpunk, my cpu and case fans spin around 900-1000rpm, the gpu fans spin at 1100, but the psu fan hits 1800rpm. Its by far the nosiest fan and it stands out in the noise profile of the entire pc.

I love this series! For the next season, you should consider adding a benchmark of some sort to it, before and after. Just to show the improvement in their selections etc, it would be awesome to see that raw info. That's what I always miss at the end is seeing an actual numbers improvement, just a tiny bit of data. I'll watch either way, love it!

I myself went from a I-7 4470 and a gtx 970 to a ryzen 5800x3d and a 7900 gre hellhound(the exact card he got) and I actually could not be happier. The difference is just immeasurable. He's going to be SO happy with that card especially if he likes to OC :3

You may already be aware of the channel but if not check out Ancient Gameplays he has a 7900 GRE overclock video where he gives the exact numbers to go with, I used them when I got mine and it makes a massive difference. Even if you've already overclocked it's worth at least checking out, he does some great videos on AMD stuff in general.

I like choosing a power supply level that is beyond my current system need for future expansion or reconfiguration. I bought a 550W PSU in 2010 and still is in use on our low-end PC.

Those TUF Gaming 1000w power supplies are loud! The 850w and 750w are whisper quiet. For that build 750-850w is more then enough, literally by a mile.

Overall good upgrade. The candidate knew exactly what he wanted to upgrade. I reckon ,not many people in general population know of RX 7900 XTX, let alone RX 7900 GRE. One thing I would have changed however, is to opt for 850 watt PSU and use the extra bucks on another NVME storage , maybe 1 or 2 TB. 1000 watt is still an overkill for most of the gaming PCs (not hyperbole)

Can you explain why he was looking at a 1000 PSU? A 5600x is 65w and even with the GRE, you probably wouldn't need more than a 750w psu. So why the need to upgrade to a 1000?

I’ve run my 5800x3d and 7900XT on a 750w PSU no problem. Yeah 1000w seems like overkill. I think 850w would have been a wiser use of funds. Put the savings into 5700x3d and get more performance.

But maybe put those $40 ish into a nice set of cable extensions. 850W should be all you need no matter what you got (exept from extreme cases). But it's his money. And there is no problem buying extensions later on if he wish.

He explained it . He is future pooping it. He also explained in other videos comment , he gets the 5700x3d comment so much he probably is avoiding it intentionally cause most ppl suggesting it are kind of toxic and doesn't want to give them the win. Well it's the lucky user that kind of loses. Anyway we all know he could fit the 7900gre , the ignition 850w , the 70$ montech and a 5700x3d/5800x3d but i mostly hope ppl upgrading with their own $$$ know it better.

I went there on grand opening. It was amazing. First time ever and I live in Georgia and we have two in Atlanta. But no one goes to Atlanta if you can help it. The staff was amazing and I was able to get pretty much a full rig upgrade for stupid cheap.

I feel you Greg, closest Micro Center to me is 519 Miles from me in Tustin California. 519 miles from Tustin to Northern California.(Ukiah)(Santa Rosa)...We use to have Fry's Electronics in Sacramento, San Jose area but they started having no inventory in 2019(I went there for a Hard Disk, and they said they could order it, I declined their offer)...they never got better and closed in 2021

Lol my 7 year old 1080 sounds like an airliner on pretty much any newer game I play now on high settings. Sometimes the fan even exceeds 100% somehow with newer games that have a lot of particles. Poor thing is probably gonna just explode one day lol.

I'm thinking that his CPU and maybe mother board might hold back the graphics card ... but the 7900 GRE will definitely be a significant upgrade and should last into his next system. I have a R7 7600 with 7900 GRE (32 GB 6000/30 memory, 850 watt power supply) and I'm looking forward to getting time to do some gaming.
