35 Years Old Black Belt under Erik Paulson. I started when I was 15 because I was getting bullied. It took me 7 years to get my blue belt and 16 to get my Black Belt. It's opened every door of opportunity that has ever been in my life. It made me think differently and the mindset you develop through the training is unexplainable! If you're reading this, find a good school to train at! Bedros you're the man for posting this. Thank you for the positive marketing of why every man, women and child should get into martial arts and make it a part of your daily practice.

7yrs yo get a blue belt is crazy. Were you going once a month?
@JamesDavisakaRemguy5 ай бұрын
Oh absolutely! It makes you different. You’re calmer, kinder, more self-assured, but less reactive. People can dis you right to your face, you feel nothing. You see someone bully someone else and you STEP IN, with zero regard for personal safety. Cause you KNOW you’re gonna beat that coward down. Sorry if this sounds cocky, but only if you haven’t “walked the walk”. And if you have, well, you know what I mean.

My lifelong best friend earned his black belt by the time we were sophomores in high school. We rolled for hours in the backyard, mostly him kicking my ass, but teaching me things along the way. There’s things I still remember, over 10 years later. He passed away a couple summers ago while serving our country. RIP SSG Clark. I love you and miss you deeply.

I am 35 years old and one month into BJJ. Just started sparring. Everyone at our academy is super chill and friendly. Yesterday, I got my assed pinned by a 48 year-old that has been training for about 2 years. It really humbled me and gave me some perspective to how important it is to be able to defend myself. After he whooped my ass, we had a good laugh and now are good friends. It's crazy how fast you become family in this community.

I prefer striking and especially for the street fights when faced against more than one opponent. Jujitsu is great no doubt when in bad spots or simply if you want to be nice to enemy and submit him without punching or getting punched. I started Gracies Jiujitsu at age 46 after years of Shotokan Karate which is absolute best for kicks and strong legs and training in Yugoslavia were brutal vs what they do in schools here in jujitsu especially warming up and practicing same kick or punch for what felt hours some times till your whole body shakes standing in same wide stance. These days You have to know both I also realized that Boxing thrown in the mix is the ultimate art.

You are probably the 200th person at any given gym who felt that way. No one will have any problem or judge you for feeling that way, buddy.
@NickRidgers5 ай бұрын
Everyone who starts will suck. Big, small, old, young, male, female. Find comfort in knowing everyone starts the same. It’s humiliating every single time and that’s where the growth is but it’s a welcoming community. No one laughs at you when you tap; you’re given feedback. If you’re big, you have weight advantage to sweep and smother. If you’re small (I’m only 130lbs), it can be advantageous in slipping out of things and with flexibility. In some time you will see with yourself or others that the training beats size and strength (of someone with less training) and that is the most encouraging/motivating aspect. There’s never a day you leave the mats not having learned something, even if it felt like a bad day. Training partners feel like teammates you’re practicing with and it’s not all serious like movie boxing gyms. I hope you find this encouraging - one year white belt
@BLDGMikeVelez5 ай бұрын
These feelings are normal. It's one of those things "you don't know until you try". Everyone that you come across at the local jiujitsu school will remember their first day, or when they just started out. They will encourage you and help you overcome those fears. I've been to literally hundreds of schools around the world and jiu-jitsu is a brother/sisterhood, we all want to see more people benefiting from the sport/art we love.

God is love. We all fall short and sin. Love is just and merciful. Because God is loving He must judge sin, we all stand judged and are due to face His wrath as slaves of sin. Because God is merciful He provided a way out from under the weight of the law and His wrath, and a way for us to be regenerated. If we trust Jesus shed His sinless blood, died and rose from the grave He forgives us of our sins and gives us a new heart that wants to look God as our Father genuinely and delight in Him, freeing us from being slaves to sin. The rest is our mind catching up with that reality and taking hold of His teaching and truth until He returns, or we die.

JIu jitsu, I find, love brag about, beat wrestler. In fact, 100 percent of confidence from jiu jitsu come from wrestler lose to jiu jitsu brown belt clip. You know? Wrestler not a martial art, like it was in warrior day. If you have wrestler school, where you have belt system, wrestling gonna be one of main grappler art, like judo and jiu jitsu. Every black belt in jiu jitsu think they this change person. Spiritual wisdom change a person, not trademark tattoo on forearm of jiu jitsu practitioner 'change' a person or black belt in ANY art. Hercules a wrestler and one of his trial, take on 'crippler,' which imply ground fighter, and Hercules know this a tough test, cuz he only take on severe, epic trial. So. 'Jiu Jitsu' a great warrior expression during time of Hercules. But. Hercules win. Black belt in jiu jitsu, no make you 'crippler,' take on Hercules, fight to death. You a speck in the ocean. Pretend you something more a lie, that jiu jitsu, non lineage practitioner, love to spread. A lot of thing make you stand out, when you skill. And. I see Roger Gracie come out of retirement 2020, duel that one dude. He pretty impress. Black belt mean you have clout in your own place of training, small world versus bigger world, vs world of legend.
