This has become my tradition...

It's become a Father's Day tradition for me to spend the weekend working in the lawn but also take some time to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life. Spending time with family, friends, and our Westies, grilling some great food, and a refreshing drink on a hot summer day. I wanted to highlight all of that and share my weekend with all of you and of course, lay down a few stripes in the lawn as well!

The comment about slowing down hits home. I’m 36 and a father of a 5, 4 and 1 year old. I’ve been working 12 hours a day 5 days a week since I was 19. All the while doing side work because everyone needs a plumbing and HVAC guy. The first time I slowed down was the beginning of March when the Covid shit shut everything down in NY. I was still working but only about 15-20 hours a week and the extra time I got to spend with the kids opened my eyes. I’ll never get that time back and I can make all the money in the world to provide but it will never be able to pay for the memories I missed out on.

I use Bose quiet comfort headphones. I use them when I mow and in my machine shop. Very comfortable. Great sound. Standard issue for employees at the machine shop. I started mowing low this spring. Purchased a John Deere from one of our local courses. I leave a long perimeter, second level fringe and then short. It's gotten smooth and thick. Been leveling as well. You have a great channel. It takes alot of work. Very informative. Helps me with my yard.

I get mushrooms too, mainly in the back. There was a massive cluster of large (old) mushrooms under a shrub, and I think I'm still seeing spores from those pop up. I don't worry about a lone mushroom here and there, but when a little cluster of them pops up, I pull them out as carefully as possible to minimize dropping more spores.

As for the clover spots you had, I use confront. I mix a small bottle of it and spot spray. Then again, I know I’m preaching to the pro 👍🏼

I’m having the best year ever for my grass. I live in the Seattle area and it has been a very cool and wet spring and early summer so far. Usually, this time of year my grass is at least partly brown if not all brown. Not this year. I wish I could post a photo. You should also do smoking videos.
