Absolutely spot-on mate, when Klopp had a run even half this bad in his penultimate season, every article and program was talking about his "7th season curse" and speculating about his job security. Any other manager, a couple of bad results in a row and their position is questioned. Meanwhile Pep gets just 1 win and 9 losses from his last 12 games, and most of the talk is about *when*-not *if*-he's gonna turn it around. Pundits still talking about him and City like they're title favourites when they're about to get leapfrogged by Bournemouth.

If you watched City win league after league, city did it with effort and desire far more than they did it with just amazing players. What separated the City’s and Liverpool in the last decade is their relentless pressing and desire to win the ball back when it’s lost. City dominated in that aspect of the game and it has completely disappeared. That shows me that complacency has set in and I don’t know if the players we have still have the ability to play like that. But to say it’s all on Pep and he is a terrible manager because of 2 really bad months is wild to me

Guardiola's tactics require the best possible talents on the planet that have amazing understanding of multiple positions and the ability to also play in those positions to an extremely high level. Since Haaland arrived, you could see that they have become more limited but still managed to make it work thanks to the abilities and athleticism of players like Stones, Walker, Rodri, de Bruyne, Bernardo and Foden. However as a combination of age, injuries and fatigue creep up on a majority of these key players, you can see they can no longer perform their multi-functional roles on the pitch. This also means that players that excel at only one or two things such as Haaland and Doku will look horribly ineffective and this inevitably leads to this huge decline.

This will define pep’s career. If he fixes this then he can arguably called the best manager (Arguably). But if he crumbles then he can’t be compared to Ferguson. This is his crucible.

@@thalente8074 Nah if he left city now and this would be bad for his legacy. Man city would become worse because no manager can have as much pull in the transfer window as pep. Now that he has stayed, he can end off on a good note next season or the season after when they will have renewed their squad with signings. Man U is an example. After SAF, they could not recover as the squad was aging. This was not all SAF fault but he as well as the board could have done better to prepare for the next manager.

As good a job he’s done at his teams pep will always have the criticism that he’s only ever managed established teams with awesome squads, not really his fault tho cause his success gets him the offers from the best teams, it’s not like he’s gonna just decide ‘ya know what I’ll manage Everton for a laugh’, but because of this people like Alex Ferguson and Jurgan Klopp’s achievements will always rank higher imo.

You can't call for Pep to get the sack because the guy just won 4 titles in a row. It would be stupid to sack him right now.

The team is simply not playing for him anymore. They expected him to leave at the end of this season, and then he went and signed that extension. He has pushed them so far, and now they just want a new challenge. If he was leaving, they would have given him one last push, but now they just want to throw out the baby with the bath water 😅. The team is just copying the playbook of their friends on the other side of the city(utd).

I’m a huge city fan and I think you hit the nail on the head. During citys incredible run, the thing that has separated us from everyone else is the willingness to run though a brick wall for Pep. This year I’m not seeing the relentless pressing, the relentless desire to win the ball back in midfield. It just isn’t there this year. Is it that players are burnt out, too old to do this work, or don’t have the desire to do it? That’s the big question. Even when we played poorly the last 9 seasons, that press and desire was never in question. I wonder if the team is burnt out on Pep. Let’s also be honest, Pep has managed at city 2 years longer than he managed Barca and Bayern combines.

Since he signed the new contract they have been terrible. Maybe the players are looking at Liverpool after Klopp and think they wouldn't mind a change of coach to invigorate them. Plus De Bruyne, Walker, Stones all look very off the pace, age and games catching up on them all like it did with Liverpool and Henderson, Fabinho.
