Goldbridge says it towards the beginning of the video... Klopp built massive depth within Liverpool that Arsenal simply doesn't have. Without Saka (or Sterling... but no one talks about that), we don't have a left-footed right winger. Not saying it's not Arteta's fault for not recognizing this possibility earlier, but you simply can't say there's "no excuse." At the end of the day, top 4 is not winning the league, which is Arsenal's objective.

Sakas injury was due to malpractice on arsenals part. Crossing the ball the way he did RARELY ever sees a high grade 2 injury. Unless you already have a grade 1 tear. Which he suffered back in oct for England. 2 weeks after the injury he plays 85 minutes against Liverpool. Then Plays against Preston (god knows why), Newcastle, inter, and Chelsea in just 14 days after suffering a hamstring injury. Hes also come off twice since then holding his hamstring. Last season as well he had hamstring issues that kept him out vs man city ect. So he has clearly been dealing with a hamstring issue and yet he continues to play week in week out. Which is why he ultimately severely injured himself from something as measly as crossing the ball. Its not just the amount of games on the fixture list but these managers aren't giving their players a rest. KDB tore his hamstring in the ucl final because of this. Played on a grade 1 tear for weeks until it finally gave out.

No one had Liverpool even close to competing for the title before the season started. It was City and Arsenal. Arsenal have underperformed massively and it sounds like you’re making excuses for them. Every single team has the same issues they’ve got and it’s down to the manager to deal with the adversity and continue to get the points on the board. The fact they’re not clear of any other team in the league is a joke considering they were the favourites alongside city and are what 5 seasons and hundreds of millions into Arteta’s ‘project’.

I don't think it matters that much with Saka out for a few months... what's important is the team (the engine) firing on all cylinders and for me, that's beginning to happen. It's a slow start this year with many problems but, I think a good showing this Christmas will set them up for the rest of the new year. It's not how you start, it's how you finish and further, I don't think City are done yet. Just a quick point (note), you have to look at the context of Arsenal's performance this year... injuries of key players and the two red cards have made a massive difference for motivation and further, momentum. With all that said, it's great to see a club other than City on top and I wish Liverpool good luck however, whatever you do, don't right off Arsenal because I believe they're just getting started. The issue isn't there is too much football. Instead it's that managers consistently overplay their best players and burn them out. They need to rotate their squads more and rest their star players more often. The best managed teams have great backup players who can slot into the teams system with a minimal dropoff. Teams with weaker squads need to focus on training up & integrating their backup players instead of overplaying their best players and hoping they don't fall apart. Because when their best players inevitably break the fall off when the inexperienced backups take over derails the season.
@dm89942 күн бұрын
The cool thing about too much football is that it allows players to debut in competitive matches that otherwise they wouldn't. It keeps "bench" players active. But maybe the EFL can go and just focus on CL , prem, and FA.

They score 5 goals with out Saka in one match…yes Saka injured is a big blow.. but Arsenal squad should be good enough to beat team aren’t they they were the best 2 team for the last 2 year they just need to win by 1 only every game they should be able to do that

NBA and NHL play 2-3 times a week. Rotate the squad.
@stevendchuКүн бұрын
Even if you make the finals in NBA or NHL, you're done by June and have minimum TWO full months to rest and recover. No international tourneys to worry about. Players like Rodri/Palmer/Saka/VVD had barely three weeks off after the Euros before reporting to pre season tours of foreign countries.

Is it the number of games or the intensity of the games today thats the problem? How much more is the average player (for a club in a continental competition) playing now compared to 10 years ago? Or 20? United has been playing between 50 and 60 games per season pretty consistently for the last +30 seasons.

Ok now as a liverpool fan im 95% sure we win the league, arsenal being 9 points behind us if we win our game in hand sounds a lot but if we got a couple injuries and they kept everyone fit for the rest of the season id fear they could catch us, id of still given them only 15% chance then but saka out for that long they just don’t have enough goals in the team. Outside of corners i dont see a single player scoring 10+ goals in their squad other than saka but liverpool have 3/4 players capable of 10+ and a better defence

Of course you can't replace Saka but Arsenal can play Martinelli, Jesus, or Sterling on the right. So it's not like going from Saliba to Holding. Those three will have to step up if they want to still be in the race when Saka returns in February and both Martinelli and Jesus are just now coming into form after long dry spells so it could be worse. The injury to Odegaard was more harmful because there was no direct replacement for him.

I fear Saka could be following the footsteps of Michael Owen. Break into first team as a teenager, show world class talent and then get run into the ground by a a manager because you are vital to the team's success. A recent example of this is Rashford. He had the same potential as Saka back in 2019 I'd say. Ole ran him into the ground playing him through back, ankle and shoulder injuries. Ofc other factors like his mindset led to his downfall but his physical decline speaks volumes.

@cookiequacky8615 it’s about when you play bad. Liverpool this season have dominated games when they play well and still won and grinded draws when they have played poor. Arsenal haven’t. You can win games when you play well but it’s so difficult without big players to get results when you’re not up to standard.
