I would have just adjusted the ending slightly: when Mable realizes that Robbie and Tambry are better off staying drugged, Dipper should have said something like "If they really are happy together, they will stay in love even without the potion" and then they spray them with the antidote and nothing happens, proving Dipper right.

My favorite part of the joke is how organic AND specific it really is... like, the buildup started so naturally you'd have a hard time guessing it was the setup for a joke if nobody told you, but it's also something so specific that with other characters it never could've worked... because you need: - Stan thinking of hippies as a pest - Soos trying to pacify him with a compromise - Stan jumping in on the trend solely to get money from the hippies - Soos being crafty enough to almost pull it off with no real blueprints - Stan disregarding all red flags to move on with his stunt - Panic when it all goes south - Stan saying that being feared by hippies is better than getting their money All of it just fits the characters perfectly, and it even shows their dynamic so flawlessly you could use this side plot to present them to a stranger... I think the other half also makes a good job of presenting Mabel as an optimist but impulsive, entitled, and borderline manipulative person despite her good intentions... Mabel's ending is rather distasteful especially if you don't know the potions wear out, but Stan and Soos don't suffer the same criticisms even though it also shows their flaws and how dangerous a combination they can be with their personalities and capabilities... I'm VERY confident this is because they're never painted as the "good guys" of their story, it didn't overstay its welcome, and the takeaway was just as chaotic as the rest of the story... while Mabel isn't painted to be on the right, Cupid gets antagonized for no good reason when he was just trying to do his job and keep people safe, and even when he was the closest to a good person in the story, he literally gets hospitalized, while the one responsible just has a "maybe I was wrong" moment and faces no further repercussions. I love Mabel as a character, the selfishness makes her believable... but MAN, I despise her attitude most of the time...

I feel like the joke in English wasn't that Stan was telling a bad joke, it was just terribly timed, but in both Spanish dubs it was badly timed AND a bad joke, making it more forgettable.
