Holy @$&+!! I’ve watched a lot of content this year and this THIS! just shot up to the top of my list. It’s the most polished and well-structured storytelling plus crisp and direct-to-the-point visualizations of a self-produced cross-country docu-series. A truly excellent first episode! _As someone who’s been watching since the home renovation vids of NFland and the tutorials and vlogging vids of Vancouver, I’m always amazed at what Becki and Chris can make in their videos and where they take them year after year. The hard work put in and challenges they overcome over the years only propels them towards grander endeavors in the future._ *Looking forward to the rest of the series, Becki and Chris!*

First of all, AMAZING debut episode!! I can't wait to see the rest of this series! A few questions if you get a minute to answer: 1. Does the skin of the aircraft wear out? I'm a little confused why the paint job won't be spared when you see 50-year-old crackling paint jobs on 172s all over the place😂 2. On that note, what's the difference between a brand-new helicopter & a rebuilt one? Surely they can't replace literally everything- what components stay? 3. Why does Robinson require the El Paso route? Feels a bit arbitrary- are there conditions they need to make sure pilots have dealt with before they can feel good about selling them a heli?

So awesome to be watching and traveling along with y'all! Great first episode! Felt like I was watching a Discovery+ show. Such great production and I know a lot of time went into this. I can't imagine having to fly a helicopter across the country, let alone plan a production alongside it. Y'all are rocking it out! And a bonus gem in this episode was finding out that you've been to Wise, VA! I lived there for 10 years. Anywhooo...can't wait for episode 2!

Came back to re-watch this as we plan a big trip West for our own flying channel. You went South West, and we'll be going North West to the Arctic Ocean and the Yukon. Anyway, what struck me is the fluidity of language around the 8:17 mark. When Chris says "the El Paso Route" as one sentence he says it in American 'Rowt', but when using Route in any other sentence he says it in Canadian 'Root'.

Awesome video! Again! Super nice to see the process and can’t wait to see episode 2. @Chris, did you ever plan on doing an IFR certification? Maybe you have it? Not that you would fly IFR in an R44, but more for safety. Maybe, flying an ILS is more comfortable in unknown airspace?

Already looking forward to more from this series! Canada is crazy with maintenance docs and in Canada you're not allowed to fly with all the maintenance records onboard in case of an accident and the records are lost. Hard to investigate it without the maintenance records. Not sure how it is in the States. Also if the records were lost in shipping you'd have to change out all life limited parts and overhaul/inspect any thing not 'on condition' to get it back to airworthy. Would be expensive for sure. Wouldn't have made for as exciting of a trip but why take it all the way to California? I'm sure there's a maintenance facility closer that would do the inspection.

So excited for this series! Do you know why Robinson requires that you fly the El Paso route? Is it lower traffic or lower altitude for a recently overhauled helicopter, just in case something breaks? Some other reason? Seems like a really weird requirement. What if the helicopter need to go to Vegas or something east, but off the route?
@CineSoar
@CineSoar Жыл бұрын
It's to avoid the added strain, and potential harder landings, of high altitude (reduced air density) flying during the break-in. For east-bound ferry flights, the El Paso route avoids mountains. You can see the Ferry Pilot Route Agreement by Googling "Robinson Basic RGB Ferry Route Agreement" which also limits the flight to a single passenger, and prohibits the combination of high heat and high altitude.
