When you're in the shop, you see what needs to be done and you are drawn to it. You do something productive. When you're in an office ( unless you're an accountant, like me ) you don't see what needs to be done and then nothing happens. The office may be a blessing, but it may end up being a curse. I'd put in a great big window between the office and the shop. Double, or even triple glazed for noise reduction. You will always have a view onto the part of your world where you make the money.
@kennethgamble54982 жыл бұрын
My garage has very small windows and the garage doors don't have windows so I always push my projects back because of the "out of sight, out of mind". So I get it
@mattevlknevl48172 жыл бұрын
I think you're really gonna need to convert a couple of those storage rooms into some more toilets. I mean what if you have 8 friends over, are you just gonna leave 4 friends touching cloth while the other 4 dump in comfort?
@rhddc22 жыл бұрын
Not sure why you would want to work in a non-air conditioned room and store car parts in an air conditioned one. Put the parts where the double doors are and do the merch in the hang out room. It’ll take up less space, you’ll work in a cooled environment, and using a dolly to bring merch 40-50’ isn’t a big deal. Alot less effort than doing all that work with no air
@mfree802862 жыл бұрын
And on really swampy days, you can get your parts out into the garage without cold metal sweating.
@JacksonODJ2 жыл бұрын
That's great man. Congrats. I'd turn the first room you enter into a hangout space - big couch and a couple loveseats and a TV. That way you can just walk in from the shop, plop down, and relax. The big room in the back can be part conference room with a kitchenette. Get a nice table to eat and/or do business at, break up the back part of that room to be storage.
@thesigmaenigma91022 жыл бұрын
Yes, I read the text below your name at the beginning of each video. Also I'd dedicate some tablespace in the larger storage room for your 3D printer. Good to have a set space for a machine like that, especially if you get a larger unit (you don't want to be moving it around the shop).
@GrindhousePerformance2 жыл бұрын
It's a pretty weird flex being able to have 4 people dump simultaneously. This is a huge, huge upgrade! Lots of utility in all the extra space. Congrats, you totally deserve it!
@cordite72072 жыл бұрын
Maybe consider some work stations / racks on wheels you can stick all of a project on as you work on it, that then can be shuffled back to storage as you need the space (doors are obviously a consideration!)
@Criscitiello2 жыл бұрын
I wasn't sure why you were so excited about office space early in the vid but after you explained why, it's a no brainer 👍 I'm stoked to see you grow your business man
@andrebannister17352 жыл бұрын
Always enjoy you ragging the guys that choose to skip the parts of you explaining the what when and how of the decisions and routes you take. Definitely my favorite build to date
@frun42 жыл бұрын
Personally I would shuffle the spaces around a little to make the best use of each area. Fist the entrance room. Make this your office. It would look more formal walking in than being greeted by a kitchen, you would be able to have meeting at your desk making it dual purpose, and it is the best spot to see people coming and going. Second, combining the storage and hangout room seems kinda awkward. I would keep the storage in the large room and share the space with the kitchen. You'll probably spend the least amout of time in here and wont mind the clutter of the storage as much. With you desk moved up front, this frees up the last room for the hangout space. It is larger than the entrance and less cluttered than the storage room. Looks to be enough space for a couch, tv, and sim rig 👌
@greggarrot81322 жыл бұрын
I would make your old office a clean room for engine, transmission whatever assembly and storing expensive parts. There's nothing nicer than having a dedicated clean work area that stays that way all the time

@samleinarts022 жыл бұрын
Congrats with the new space! You've earned it. Why dont you use the space with double doors as a storage room, you can roll in big items like partial chassis or machinery. You can then use the big room as merch/friends room.

Congrats on the office and storage area. Are you going to put windows in the walls between the offices and workshop? In that way you can see the shop from the office and have some extra light in the shop. I think it would make for a cheap but very pleasant change. Enjoy the new extra space. You've earned it 😉

Since you are a such long term tenant you should ask if you can demolish walls and if yes The old office should go and should be replaced with tall storage racks Combine your kitchen and hangout place maybe even the big room and the entrance Also it would be cool to have glass sliding doors to the shop aria to look through as soon as Someone comes in

Gotta put the soda machine next to the couch in the entry room and set that whole place up to be aesthetic as fuck. LED lights, bangin stereo, bigass TV, couch(es), fridge. Put the kitchen shit in the long room. make it a great place to hang out. and yeah, old office would make a great "clean room" for fiddly engine shit.

Appreciate the “motherhood and apple pie”episodes despite wanting to see project progress. I think anyone who has a project knows that you can’t just crank 24/7 in real life. Two things, as someone who deals with facilities and real estate, little things like good office space, AC, and extra parking are a big deal despite how silly it may seem for manufacturing. It’s been a deal breaker Second, appreciate the motivational parts of getting back to work. I finally manned up and pulled the outboard off the 50 year old boat I’m working on. Still chasing electrical gremlins and was horrified by what’s happening inside the outboard but it’s solid progress after scratching my head for a week.

Why not turn the large room into the office/ hang out area with tv and settee etc that way you could turn the room which was going to be the office into a storage area. That way you would not have to subdivide the big room for storage. The air conditioning should still keep the large room cool so its a win win.😀
