John Smith Ah... Sela Ward. Yeah that is me, 2006 I’ve never changed my photo- too lazy. I’m not an actress but I was a professional dancer/showgirl and I’ve modeled quite a bit. People used to tell me I looked like all sorts of girls. I used to get Gweneth Paltrow, Lisa Kudro, Sandra Bullock, I even got Lauren Bacall LOL. One time in the early 90s I was driving around in my convertible red corvette with a friend around 5-6 in the morning. We were making a home made documentary called “Hollywood Be Thy Name”. Since I live, and still live in West Hollywood we were on Sunset, ‘this was when there were hookers (tons of them) on the street so we interviewed one standing in front of the Roxbury. It was funny, but then as we were driving away we saw Woodruff and we interviewed him too. He thought I was an actress too and I wouldn’t tell him my name, so anyway we have him on video TOTALY trying to hit on me and begging me to put him “in my next film”, it was so funny- My friend was zooming in and out of his face so close you could see spit coming out of his mouth. It was very common to run into Dennis. He was everywhere. Also easily spotted everywhere was/and STILL is is ANGELYNE, if you know who that is. She is another “local” well now character. Ah,the characters back then and when I was a kid were just UNBELIEVABLE ! Now, not so much. Hollywood-the actual town has really changed, and not for the good.

Dennis do you remember me? I was your next door neighbor in Palm Springs. We lived at a cool vintage place called The Penthouse right in the center of town. You had the most beautiful tabby cat ever and after I admired him you gave him to me. Then you invited me in to take him and I thought your place was very cool. The ceilings were 16' high and you had all of your original art on walls all the way to the ceiling. It was an amazing sight. I admired a Liberace painting and you took it off your wall and just gave it to me. I still have it and treasure it to this day:-) The Liberace estate was only a block away. We could see it from the Penthouse. I didn't know you very well but you reminded me of Eddie Vedder at the time. My take from the little I knew of you is that you were artistic, eccentric, and reclusive, and very mysterious You said you were an actor. You were also kind and giving:-) 🧚✨💫

I worked at Paramount Pictures for 18 years. This guy, Dennis, didn't make it in Hollywood because he Type-Cast himself publicly as a, "persona non grata" which is defined as a person who is unacceptable or unwelcome due to his misguided and self-defeating ways to enter the business. He hasn't done one commercial, one television or movie gig in all those many, many years. His method of marketing and advertising was juvenile at best and the production industry will not recognize him or hire him because of it. The industry is tough and misgiving most times. He should have quit after 5 years of trying, disappeared for several years and come back with a completely new and different approach and identity. You normally start out as a production assistant, assistant to the director, do many background gigs, etc. I started out as security at Paramount and got my camera education at Panavision in Woodland Hills along with gigs at colleges and film studios as a camera loader making contacts and small films that promoted me into Cinematography doing gigs on Star Trek, Frazier, Becker and many others as a 2nd camera assistant at Paramount Studios. He didn't do any of the required necessities in becoming an actor...none. He literally destroyed any chance of discovery and to this day, continues the same failings without realizing it's going no-where. Complete lack of vision. Plus, more importantly, this guy cannot act at all. He's terrible.

I'm Andrew, I am a student at UCLA and I want to make movies. The only way I can describe Dennis is that he is a character. At first, he seems to lack self-awareness. But as he speaks, you get the sense that he knows what he is saying. It's just that what he knows is a little different from how most people would interact with "knowledge". He makes movies, and it's clear that he knows movies and that he knows LA. That is more than I can say about most people. He seems to have a chaotic sort of orientation to the world. In this chaos sometimes I think I can see what he wants to say. But it is always just for a moment. His movies, what little I have seen of them, are unlike anything I have seen, as cliche as that sounds. He gives me hope that I can make movies too. He wants me to tell you all to give people starting out a chance. If you are also starting out, look out for your peers. If you've made it, don't forget where you came from. -Andrew
