The writing is great, it accomplishes its goal perfectly. First and foremost, it's a horror game. Some cheesy lines are 100% expected. The gameplay is very much improved over Little Hope, and as long as Supermassive keeps this momentum, the next title will be good too.

I'm still pretty miffed that the twist is that the monsters are aliens. Seriously, I'm so sick of this trope. Before the intro was even done I'd figured the monsters were either gonna be mutant cave people, or aliens. Why can't it just be ACTUAL DEMONS for once? Thats the whole point of her character is that she is a bitch, hence her nickname in game being "Queen Bitch". I think it lends a little more charm to the game with all the characters being horror movie archetypes, that makes the control you have over the story that much more interesting, i played with friends and they all hated Rachel but when it came down to it she still was a character we'd spent time with, and i personally try to get everyone out alive
