I have to say I'm 64 next week, I rode English when I was younger.....loved it. The one thing back then ,I didn't come from money and it mattered sad to say. I would have loved to have had a place like Free Spirit and an instructor like you Shea. All your students seem to adore you and enjoy the other riders as well. Thank you to everyone of you for bringing back a part of my soul and love of horses ....oh and your husband is an excellent man, you two are very lucky

I know very little about horses or what the judges were looking for but what I did notice is how Gaston & Beauty held their heads erect , ears at attention , moved fluidly & seemed to be enjoying what they were doing. Some of the other horses their heads were hanging, ears not erect & their movements were far less fluid. Gaston & Beauty were winners in my book. Great to watch.

“Aye, There’s The Rub” ........The judges wore Western-style attire suggesting the type of horse they are most familiar with in evaluating. Head carriage (good pickup) is one big difference in how western-trained horses are judged. This is not a criticism; it was a very nice horse show. In larger competitive horse shows, there would also have been judges familiar with other horse breeds and their respective training.

Head/neck carriage has more to do with breed (notice the saddlebred in the ring), and a bit to do with formal training. Western disciplines generally train for a much lower head, and I'd assume the lowest head carriage is a Western trained horse. A lower head generally means more relaxed, and a higher head generally means the horse is tense. You have to look at the entire horse though.

My granddaughter showed her little mare when she was a teen. She loaded, locked and drove to the horse show. In the process lost the trailer key. Little Chloe waited patiently for some kind man to jimmy the lock to get her out. Traumatic. This was over 10 yrs ago . Hayden still has this sweet old gal. She is now 18 and carries her little 4 yr old with love and care. Horses are so special.

One time my mother drove me 7 hours in an ice storm to compete for a musical scholarship. We were qlready nervous and the roads were trecherous. My pianist had my music and she never made it to the music hall. That all put me over the edge into tears. From then on I always travel with my own copy, and 2 extra copies. Thanks, Mom for getting me there. Yes, I was awarded a scholarship. I understand leaving😢 papers behind.

Pretty sure she said this show was only 15 minutes away. Why not just run home and get the coggins certificate? Put the horse back in the trailer while waiting? A horse can be infected the day after blood is drawn. In reality, this test is not fail proof to begin with.

Kudos to you Shae for how well your students did at the show. All the horses did really well. I know you must feel a certain amount of pride because you have brought along these students and these mounts to where they are today. You have proven that you don't need a fancy expensive horse to show and that any horse with the right care and training can accomplish great things if given the chance. I'm looking forward to Ariel's and Essie's journey. Time and patience and consistent handling makes all the difference in the world. Congratulations!

I'm glad to see you showing the versatility of the Canadian Horse. Gaston will do you proud, and give you his all. With only 150 - 500 new registrations per year and only about 6,000 registered worldwide, the Canadian Horse is a risk of extinction. As a Canadian, that makes me really unhappy, but seeing your willingness to help him reach his full potential makes my heart happy!

😊❤ Hi Shae and students! 😅 Congrats to everyone!! 🎉🥰 You all were Rock Stars!! 🤩 ❤ Between finances and medical issues it's been quite awhile since I participated in a horse show!! LOL 😂 But I have to say that looking back, it's the things that don't go right but you can laugh at later that you remember!! So, I say you all will remember this rainy day!! 😮😅❤ I had a little Arabian gelding I took to lots of open shows! I love them for learning ... and laughs! One weekend we had been showing in halter, English and Western. It's getting late on Sun, not many classes left. But I was entered in the trail class. I was exhausted so we changed riders and my friend's daughter rode him. He was doing great! They are approaching the mailbox. For those that might not know; the rider is supposed to walk up to the mailbox and stop where they can easily reach the box. Then they are supposed to open it, pause as if checking and then close it and walk off. My gelding stopped early. He stopped with his head at the box. And before the rider could do anything he reaches over, opens the box with his mouth. He actually paused and tilted his head like he was looking inside and then he reached down and closed the box with his mouth!! LOL 😂 I had a video and I was standing close to the judge. On the tape you can hear her cracking up laughing and then she says; "That'll do!!" LOL 😂🤣 I know my little Arabian did well that weekend. We had an assortment of different place ribbons but I don't even remember much else from that show. I will never forget that minute when Beyfire checked the mail all by himself!! LOL 😅 So in my eyes; you guys/gals had a fantastic day!! Luv ya! 😊❤❤

@lisas6450
@lisas6450 6 ай бұрын
@@SHENworks Hi, yes he did! 😃 It's been so many years I can't remember the details. But I think his sire was Bey El Bey. I probably wouldn't have ever been able to afford a horse with his breeding. But the story was his mother died after giving birth. The owner really didn't know anything about horses. Beyfire was just fed hay and pasture so his growth was stunted I believe, he matured at 14.3 hands. He also had a scar on his chest because he was put in a pasture that was fenced with barbed wire, and there were mares on the other side in another pasture. He went through the fence. But he was perfectly sound, really beautiful mover! Just gorgeous, nice deep red bay with a blaze and short white sox. I loved that silly boy!! ☺️

Sleeping Beauty is a star! These girls are so lucky to have you in their lives, teaching them how to roll with the punches and to stay positive! It's no small thing for horses to go to a new place, go in the ring with horses they don't know and act properly! I went to a show once and my horse, along with another one from our barn, began cantering when we were supposed to be trotting! We had to stand in the middle of the ring! We had arrived late and didn't have time to warm up. I still laugh about it years later

I loved showing at local shows. We called them fun shows. They were actually training shows. We had a fantastic time. At the end of show season they had an Old Timers Show, no one under the age of 25 was allowed to show. It was one-time fee for the day. You would get a number, sign up for your classes but if you decided you wanted to show in a class you didn't sign up for all you did was let them know you wanted to go into the class by yelling out your number, & you showed in it. The great part was the 4H kids were the judges, which was good for them. I had an English/Western pleasure horse. My friends talked me into doing barrels. I couldn't believe it; he took third place. You would like something like that. I had a loose-leaf notebook with plastic sleeves in it, I kept all my horse's records in it. When I took them to a show all I had to do was grab the book and everything was there. Your babies did really well. You have every right to be very proud of them. Congratulations. Brings back old memories. Thank you for letting me reminisce.

Oh my gosh. Your posse was so professional and their riding attire looked totally top-notch. I know it's about the horses but y'all sure are the girls that love them.

Im truly impressed with your horsemanship with the horse's and students. So much more value here than the actual ribbons won. The true value in the girls lives and the horses experience will last a life time. The care taken and responsibility in every aspect of horse and tack and equipment. Treats for people and horses. Learning to embrace the suck " rain" with postive attitude. Your sheparding of team was a beautiful class act .

Aww - Mushu! Looking forward to see him in August at his first show. Beauty is just so amazing! Always when I see her it makes me so happy. She is such a great horse and at such a young age. It’s great you take your students to shows. My horse trainer when I was a teenager did as well - trail and reining. 25 years ago these classes were rare here in Germany 😅 And even when I didn’t continue with eventing it was a great experience!

Great job to all your students!! They did amazing!! I'm watching this from my show, as I'm waiting between between classes. My first class was at 830 EST, and my second class isn't until 1 pm. I'm so proud of all of you!! You all did great in those weather conditions, which is what I'm facing today. Rain, all day!! Poor Mushu!! Next time for sure, Shea, I'm sure you'll remember everyone's Coggins!! LOL 🤣 That's showing for you!!;Here in Canada, we have to have the Coggins AND their Passport for all shows. But I'm going to recognized shows with the 2 I'm showing this year. Otherwise, it would just be the Coggins. I'm so proud of all your students, Shae, and of Beauty and Gaston. They did amazing!!
