It’s hard to get into HVAC, plumbing, or be an electrician when they pay apprentice only 15 to 18 an hour, unless you’re living with your parents and just graduated from high school
@roblincoln105 ай бұрын
Those times are changing, it's not uncommon to see 20-22/hr here in the southeast

I understand paying someone 18-20 hr it’s a sacrifice you have to make. It pays you 150k later !!!

So for a guy coming out of high school, best option is to go to trade school and immediately start working? Or would it be worth it to also pursue a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering in the meantime?
@TheTradeTalks2.0 Жыл бұрын
You can earn to learn a trade by apprenticing somewhere, and take engineering courses online to see if it’s the route you want to take. Or you can obtain a large loan and risk finding out college isn’t right for you.

I put myself through college working for a mechanical contractor doing electrical and hvac… After spending 20 years in consulting and public accounting I became burnt out of being behind a computer 45-50 hours a week… I am now working on cooling equipment again as a field service engineer for a global manufacturer… While I don’t make as much annually, I still make 100k per year with great benefits and significantly less stress! Point is, pickup a college degree as it gives you options… You will be able to make over $100k per year behind a desk or in the field…

Start working in a trade, then you can experience the frustration of working on poorly engineered designs that don’t take into account the poor guy who has to fix it, that will make you a better engineer

How many people actually make this much though? I see job postings for $19-22 per hour

Yeah man here in va your not making 100k unless your a 10 yr plus tech in commercial hvac/r with a masters license or own your own company your not gonna make 100k a year as a residental technician without owning the company i have 11 years in have a masters license and work for a 15 million dollar hvac/r mechanical company in VA and I make 38 a hr which is around 1500 too 2000 a week after taxes this dude is full of it install guys are the lowest guys on the totem pole its where you start when you know nothing about hvac..... our lead install guys make around 25 a hr top guys make 28 to 30 a hr your not going past 30 a hr without being able to install and also run calls and troubleshoot...... This dude is a sleezy salesman that works on commission ripping off old people and dumb people selling stuff that people don't need and if you don't rip people off as a commission tech you make no money your litterly forced to push stuff on people to make that commission.....

I don't doubt the guy makes good money but how many hours does he work My first real trade job I made 65k a year But I also worked 6 days a week 12 hours a day. You can't just say this guy makes X without the Y All your videos leave out the Y they only say the X. It's cool you are getting people into trades but it's dishonest to leave out that you will potentially live in hotel rooms and never be home or off of work
@zacharybob43364 ай бұрын
100k, 5 days per week, 35-45hrs. Little to no travel (1-3 days per year). Freshly journeyed out. You can make it happen.

@JC-sc9rx7 ай бұрын
@@catztruck929 You know what I'm saying is accurate I'm not hating I'm bringing perspective to the conversation. I'm 3 years in the trade and in service dept.. So i do install, preventative Maintenace and service. And get my company about 20k in sales monthly.(240k/year) In addition to having less call backs than you can count on 1 hand over the course of a year and regularly doing 11k+ installs. some are more just giving average figure.

@@catztruck929 because im in the same boat but i do more than just installs and do approx a 1/4 million in sales per year on top of service work and installs and maintenance and i only make a little over 55k a year even with commissions and OT so obviously its a one off story whether that be through nepotism or not people like me...in the same shoes dont make as much as him,thats how

Trades are a great carrer but lets not act like you can make 150k a year as a installer of all things the bottom man on the totem pole lol... Even in NY and California installers are not making 100k a year a installer is bottom of the barrel entry-level you might get 18hr start knowing nothing 25 a hr if your good and maybe 28 to 30 if your the lead guy in charge ..... Its not gonna be 150k lmao 😂
