Out of spec renew is doing some great work. As the shop owner, I wish to thank them for taking the time to come over and see our project. We now have it on the road and it’s really fun to drive. The customer did not want a high-performance vehicle because his intended use is, going to be close to his home for short distances. I drove the car yesterday and the suspension is fantastic. The car is very tight. It drives like a brand new car. We will be doing testing and tuning of the system before delivering it to the customer. Our shop specializes in world class restorations, of many different kinds of cars. Both of the EVS we have built have also been beautifully painted and finished. We are looking towards the future. EV will be part of Transportation. I don’t advocate all older cars get converted but for some people they make perfect sense. They still drive like a classic car just a lot quieter, with less oil leaks, less smoke and more reliability.

Love your videos and the in depth technical info. I ride my e-bike all the time and love the way it works. Too bad it doesn't have regen!!! I will be purchasing a Honda Odyssey 2007 for road traveling and camping. The Honda should be a good conversion with front wheel drive and engine cradle which should keep everything contained in one area. Maybe a battery pack where the fuel tank was. Would also like to use a heat pump for camping overnight and all high voltage camping equipment. This stuff keeps getting better and better. Thank You Bill Compton

You should check out Justin's Grin Technologies YT channel.... Which has a series of posts on regen for ebikes.... Plus they are developing a simpler design with an Israeli company... Which is activated and modulated by the disc brake... They should have two Motors out by the end of the year..... Of course it's a hub drive, not a midrive design.. And if you're going to try to convert an ice vehicle to an EV.... A pickup would be easier to do... But it's still not as easy as it seems..... Good luck if you try it

@@nc3826 The e-bike choice was hard-hub-drive-mid-drive-gears drive system. Software and support is key. Specialized turbo vado with Electonic shifting hub with belt drive is what I purchased. This makes me appreciate all the work that is being done on these conversions. I was going to add a drive system to my analog bike but knew it wouldn't be a complete system. I would love to buy a complete new all electric van but the cost is crazy. well see what the future holds. Thank you for the information. bill c I thought the Sonos Motors vehicle would have been perfect, but it was never made.

@@billcompton6050 Nice eBike from a long established company.... But if you bought it new didn't it cost as more than your Honda? LOL.... Unless you got it at a substantial discount, which is frequently offered or used.. but I personally prefer open software.... Converting an Icev to an EV is usually massively expensive.... While getting a used EV that needs a little work is usually much more cost-effective.... Since it tends to be much less labor intensive.... Which could be modified during the process to fit your needs.... Or revising an existing EV convert such as the Ford/Azure Dynamics Transit Connect van from over a decade ago and the Electrek Garage yt channel has a post on it.... Just a thought....

@@billcompton6050 and if the Sonos Motors vehicle was big enough for you.... There's plenty of used EVs on the market that are the same size or larger.... No need to do a conversion or a major overhaul

This is an interesting twist on EV conversion, having a kit you put in and taking care of the restoration as opposed to customizing the conversation and leaving the restoration to someone else. That was a good question about converting muscle cars as there was a bit of a pause and very diplomatic answer. I suppose what the “right car” is could be a whole other episode. I’m not a real car guy, but I’d say if a car was made in enough numbers that it’s not too rare it’s a good contender. You said on a more emotional, level, and I think that’s key. On a non emotional level, you own the car and you can do with it what you want.

It's not generally appreciated, how much engineering is required.... Hopefully 3D modeling, will streamline the process..... And hope to see more pick up conversions on this channel, since they are a little bit easier to do..
@LegitQuit-dz8kk4 ай бұрын
Was thinking the same thing. There's gotta be a headcount for some 3D scanning and modeling to help plan out these conversions. Could save some stand-around-fiddling-time how they seem to have been doing it. Not discounting that you need to physically get in there, but for sure some prototyping on the computer could be a good start.

@@LegitQuit-dz8kk And/or 3D print scaled down plastic replicas of everything.... and play around fitting them together, while imagining how the hosing and wiring are going to fit ..... And leave some tolerance so you can fit your hand in.... To bolt everything down.... And even then it's not going to be perfect, but it should be close..... And none of this are new ideas.... Hope they figure out what works best for them....

@@nc3826 Great point. 3D printing has changed my prototyping for ebike parts. So fast and cheap with Fusion 360 being inexpensive too.
