The distraction and intentional boredom thing is HUGELY powerful to me it's so underrated. One of the best things I learned was when I'm driving in my car I don't turn the radio on. My brain sits there soooo bored wanting to turn up the dial but if I shut that craving down when I arrive to my destination I am completely ready to perform and focus on my tasks. On breaks from work just sitting in silence. No youtube or facebook. My productivity SKYROCKETS more than ANY other technique I've ever used. It's incredible!

What if I enjoy boredom and silence? I kinda like to drive without music and sit in silence and do nothing, I get lost in my thoughts, and I can spend hours doing literally nothing lol

@@user-ki4xw2rb8q If that's the case you probly have very high serotonin. It makes you feel content and satisfied with life in the present and not feel any drive to accomplishe things. Which would cause some laziness as well, but happy laziness lol. Usually if a person has a lot of serotonin it's either they have a very comfortable life/lots of money or parents paying for them to live, or they are just inactive/not working a job or exercising, or it can come from drugs. Specifically SSRI's (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors) which are commonly prescribed as anti-depressants or to people with mood disorders like Bipolar or BPD. Aside from that high serotonin can come from diet like over consuming milk and chocolate because of their high tryptophan which our body uses to make serotonin, or the gut microbiome is just strongly geared toward producing it with many of the strains of bacteria responsible for it's production. Orrrr, you might be smoking weed😇🥰 THC from weed not only binds to the cb1 and cb2 cannabinoid receptors all throughout our body and brain, but it also binds to serotonin receptors which is what causes the euphoric happiness giggling or just overall sense of wellbeing when you're high. This is why they say weed doesn't get rid of boredom, it just makes you ok with being bored. So you can sit there and stare at the moon or stand there watching the microwave cook for the whole 5 minutes smiling without a care in the world or watch your house burn down and just be like "Damn that sucks, oh well. Life is good" haha. The serotonin receptors are also the reason weed tends to make people lazy, especially indica strains. But it's not really giving you extra serotonin like SSRI's do, it just substitutes taking the place of serotonin because it can bind to the serotonin receptors.. It also triggers the hunger hormone ghrelin to be released a lot which is where the munchies comes from. One way to test if you have high serotonin would be do you have vivid dreams? A strong imagination? Are your eyes a little sensetive to light sometimes especially right after waking up? Because serotonin is the precursor to melatonin, so if you have higher serotonin you will produce more melatonin when your eyes stop sensing light. As sokn as darkness hits and your eyes are not stimulated a bunch of serotonin gets converted to melatonin to make you fall asleep. This is also why staring at bright scrwens before bed makes it hard to sleep. The body is designed to comply with earth's day/night cycles. Night shift jobs never started existing until caffeine was discovered becausehumans just could not escape how strong the circadian rythm controls us. Until we inventbright ass artificial lights and stimulant drugs like nicotine and caffeine and blast our dopamine levels super high. Now everybody can't sleep good lol Sorry that was long bro

@@user-ki4xw2rb8q It's the same for me. But I also think that is also one kind to get your brain going. I think this free floating lost in thoughts state is quite healthy to have sometimes. It probably has you be relaxed and focused when you arrive.

This has been in motion for quite some time and the progress I've made surprised everyone and I broke some benchmarks already. Such an underrated but valuable tip, possibly needing an entire video about it (can make it if anyone is interested / Ik I am lol). 00:02 Brain injury led to insane focus and productivity hacks 02:01 Accessing flow consistently requires active recovery. 03:48 Wall staring increases reward sensitivity and improves focus. 05:45 The skill of distraction recovery is important for maintaining focus 07:32 Overcoming feelings of inferiority and building external validation as a result of a head injury. 09:20 Listening to hypnosis in the morning helps to achieve a flow state and increase productivity. 11:01 Different chronotypes have different optimal times for cognitive exertion. 12:49 Using a custom workout and having accountability helped him become more focused and efficient. 14:36 Work compression and prioritizing tasks can lead to higher productivity and effectiveness. 16:22 Leverage is key to increasing productivity 18:08 Optimal flow is achieved when the challenge level slightly surpasses our skill level. 19:50 Setting a challenging goal can pre-seed a desired trait for personal growth.

I've seen and taken notes from Rian's videos before I discovered your channel. Love both of your content and both of your presenting styles. I will say, Rian Doris seemed so perfect (deep voice, tall, so smart, commanding authoritative presence) that I genuinely began to suspect he might be AI-generated before seeing him on your channel. Like he was too perfect to be human. To hear even HIM say he struggles with insecurites BLEW MY FREAKING MIND. That was it. I was like, "ok, insecurities are so often not based in reality, if this guy is insecure than maybe I should tell my insecurities to eff right off." I also realized that when he shared a vulnerbaility, that that really is when you feel like you connect with someone, when they show you their underbelly. Leon I just found your videos yesterday and have been binging them. You're so charming and friendly and you present info in a very easy-to-understand way and add great humor in. I hope you keep on going. Thanks for these videos.

My ex lost his left frontal lobe in a huge accident (he was next to a construction site and the sliding doors they were installing on floors above landed on him) it took him years to learn to eat, speak, epileptic attacks everything then he got really in to deep study of the brain and psychology and the body etc and he was really brilliant. Started several companies became a CEO for a big other one and did many other things. Just goes to tell you to not despair but it takes incredible strength to achieve but I wonder if brain injury tends to create that intense focus in many cases.
