This Illness is Taking Over The Rammers Forza Motorsport

As a Noob to sim racing, I thought I'd share my Forza Touring car experiences, my wins, my loses and my wtf moments. I try to explain my thought process, but text to speech in my head has data corruption.
My strategy is simple, stay alive at all cost. We all know Forza Motorsport can be a little dicey at times. I hope with a more passive tactic, I can swoop in and take the position. While also improving on my own skills as a racing driver.
Track learning is key, hopefully by reviewing my race choices and my mistakes, I can help others learn and improve upon their lap times. Thus making the racing world more fun and competitive.
Skill, balls, trail and error are key to become a better driver. For which I am looking for, but I do have trail and error down well.
I am using a G920 Logitech wheel, and playing Forza Motorsport on PC using Xbox Game pass. I do not have the VIP, or cars pass, this is the basic game as available to everyone.
I do hope you all enjoy the content, Racing and Sim racing is great fun and helps you escape the harsh reality of the life.

it all boils down two things; Main Character Syndrome and Forza is built for video gamers, not racers. Being “a racer” doesn’t necessarily mean you are fast, it means you have spacial awareness and at least a shred of respect for others. Forza is all about being able to jump into “an automotive competition”, which ranges from real motorsport to Rocket League, and as a result you get a very wide range of people participating.

Yeah no kidding. With respect to what you are saying. This is why there is a rating system, so players who are not all that bothered can go into that lobby and those who want competitive clean racing have their own place to. Mixing them is like teaching a cave man who just discovered fire, how a computer works. It isn’t going to end well.

Thank you for the awesome comment Hahaha yeah I try and point out what I do. Others have noted that I do not follow the racing line, rather go my own way around the track so I do hope it provides you with a good baseline to further improve on. ACC is amazing. I have not joined a league as of yet. I been working on getting my SA rating to 80. What league are you in??? How does it work??? Sim racing is really addictive. Like it caught me off guard too lol. Hey anytime lol. As long as you’re addicted to having fun this is the place to be :).

Absolutely! I joined PitSkill and it’s super fun. They have a bunch of daily races where the track changes weekly. And the have weekly leagues and championships. You have a racing license where you earn safety points and skill points too. It’s a ton of fun.

Hello there, I too really appreciate how you call out the braking points, turn in points, power on points, as I am going to try racing without the braking line on, just seems way more realistic/immersive. I also couldn't help notice that you keep ABS on, is it better to do so in forza motorsport? In previous versions of the game ABS off usually resulted in shorter baraking distances if you were good at modulating the brake pedal.

Hey there thanks for the great comment Removing the racing line is the best thing you can do. I do have the abs on. It may be a few tenths faster with it off, having it on or off does seem to be a matter of opinion from what I have seen. To be honest I have not tried, so I cannot give you a decent opinion. I do know having traction control on ruins your lap time as it is very invasive. If you are comfortable with it off and are not locking up then I would say have it off. If you find yourself mid corner or even before the corners locking up then keep it on.

Good driving chap. As for Watkins Glen, do yourself a favour and turn on track boundaries and do some hotlapping…you’d be surprised at how much you can gain ;) Also lengthen your final drive ratio a smidge. I like to have it so I am at peak power at the end of the straight when not drafting anyone. You’ll always have a 5-7 more available with a draft :) Just me 2p fella 👌🏻

Yeah I am defiantly going to have to do that. Those cars were fast. Be good to know how much abuse I can give it. I usually do small adjustments for each race. Especially the gear ratios just to get that few mph but lately I have been a bit of a plank and just not touched anything. So you’re absolutely right bud. Honestly keep on top of me lmao. Great driving bro. Last corner Watkins Glen keep gear 4, 150kmh coast, early power flat on it coming onto the straight using that extra track width leftside to keep in control. Apex Syndrome is spoken true fam. S4992 and still, 1/6 races is no holds barred. Chad's in the MG gotta win the race l1t1 you know.

Thanks buddy. Yeah that’s a little weak spot for me. I need to dive it in just right and just get my wheel in on that kerb. As the kerb has camber it helps pull the car round. Love the track though. Hahahaha yeah it’s stupid how our score makes little difference to the lobbies we are put in. I mean what’s the point then. Besides a little pride. Pride that then gets ruined. Turn 1 unless I’m at the front. I back right out of and watch it all unfold lol. Get the popcorn out man.

There were great times buddy. One time on a private road. My 1 litre had a tow bar. So my mate sat on a tray, rope around the toe bar and went for a drive lol. Life hack. The kfc trays lasted longer. lol

I know buddy. Then they had touring cars 2. Touring cars 3 which i really enjoyed. It had rally stages. Truck racing and great physics and graphics for its time. Of course I only gave you a glimpse of the series but my gosh the cars look good sounds good and drive good. It is a real callback to the days of Toca touring cars. I did hear the btcc rights are now available to buy. So you never know. :).

Hahaha! Absolutely right. The answer is simple. These people play racing games like Need for Speed ​​but they don't watch real racing so they don't know how to race and don't understand the basic rules of fighting on the track. Forza Motorsport attracted exactly this kind of audience. The correct name for this syndrome should be "Arrow Syndrome". :)) Because they don't think about the apex or the fight. They just follow the arrows-lines and think that the one who is faster to take them is right. :))

You are so right bud, which is why We need to get this matchmaking fixed. In ACC you have to have a certain level of safety and skill rating before joining the sim lobbies. Same should be in forza. you work your way up. Dont get me wrong, a good old dog fight can be a giggle lol. The "Arrow Syndrome" does sound like a video I should make showing how people are just so glued to the line its not even funny. While most of the time the arrows may show the faster way through or the more optimal, does not mean it is the fastest way through the corner. This "Arrow Syndrome" causes survival of the fittest at every braking point because they all divebomb to be the first one out leading the train lol

@@Flashms Arrows-lines are the "correct geometric line" but not optimal especially when the player is participating in a racing fight. I had cases when two players or I crashed into each other and we were spun. So even after that they did not try to drive in the right direction as quickly as possible but tried to return to the arrow-line, then turn the car around and continue moving. :)) There was a clear thought in their heads - "I need to return to the arrows and this will give me the correct and fast movement". Arrows help players drive when they are alone but this also plays a cruel joke on them because when they are not alone and there is a car nearby, they cannot drive outside the arrows and do not understand at all how they should act. I am silent about the fact that most players do not even know that they need to leave room for their opponent. They think that everything is like in the movie The Fast and the Furious. Squeeze your opponent out of the turn and this will mean that you are Toretto. :))) But I won't lie. Forza Motorsport has a special charm now. It's not like in Grand Turismo 7 where all the players are pro. It's like a real racing world here but with characters from Fast and Furious. :)) This is especially noticeable in the open class on supercars. Sometimes your ass burns from crashes but it gives you emotions.

@NoobMasterGamer2759 what that’s crazy man lol. I would have parked up to watch that unfold lol. Yeah that’s true. This is why lots of people are calling for damage to be implemented. This should help with a lot of contact. See I have done iracing acc real life racing etc etc. being able to survive far out ways being the fastest into a corner. 1 mistake 1 bit of bad contact can end your and many others race. Still the player base range so vastly that some are like myself and some it’s their first time and are 7 years old in this game. So you have to bear that in mind. Cannot expect everyone to be like yourself and me reminding myself that really helps to not get annoyed or stressed about incidents. It’s out of my control anyway. As long as I do my best and do it right or well. I am happy lol. And if I make a mistake. I am more than happy to call myself out on it. Well I hear different views on GT7 some say it’s a pro game and some say it’s far more chaotic and has way more rammers and bad drivers than forza. I cannot say which as I have not played that game. So only go by what I am told. But will not form an opinion unless I have a go lol. I have not tried open class yet. It does not appeal to me lol but some other races outside of touring and gt have been absolute crazy and has left me in stitches. I got by the policy of “if I am not laughing within the first 2 minutes of a problem. Then I am doing something wrong” thing is online it happens. No different to call of duty. Sometimes you carry the team sometimes you need to be carried. I do not sweat or worry. For me I have to have fun lol. And that’s all that matters. I have done Iracing, league racing in LFM and things like that, yes that is fun to, but its a different kind of fun, its hard to explain. But forza is unpredictable and can make you laugh, were as league racing is players applying pressure, keeping you on your toes and pushing your limits to wear you sweat from places you didn't even think was possible kind of fun. Each are different. but each are fun in their own right.

@@Flashms I can say for sure - Forza is a game that can blow your ass. :)) Sometimes I turn on the microphone and curse the person who knocked me out. Then I remember that I shouldn't do that. But next time it all happens again. :)) I had a safety rating of "A". But I ranged in two races and fell to "D". In TWO RACES. :)) Punished a couple of assholes. Now I've recovered to "B". :)) At the same time, I understood only one thing. There is no rating in the game. There are only racing situations. And no one will retreat thinking about the rating. Everyone will fight to the end and receive penalties. Moreover, I understood one simple thing. The game punishes good players several times more because it is easier for it to read their behavior. Chaotic players receive fewer punishments. Damage is a good idea and it will even be introduced sooner or later. I am sure of it. It are already in the game actually, it just not used in online races. But this will lead to bad players killing races for everyone else without a chance to return. I am for more punishment. Especially for collisions. And less for cuts. The theme of punishments in the game is a separate topic. Worthy of a separate video. I advise you to try the open class. Especially the races where all sorts of Ferraris, Lamborghinis, etc. participate. Reminds me of the final chase in the movie Need for Speed. Especially in Le Mans or Daytona.

hahahahah thats why i have the mic turned of, while also muting all the other drivers to, Does my head in when a donut leaves their mic on and all you can hear is popping noises or the tv and it keeps popping up on the screen. so i mute everyone so i do not have to hear or see that crap lol. I Hover around A or S depends on the lobby and race i am in, 9 times out of 10 i get penalised for something out of my control so i do not pay attention to the rating. Haven't in a long time. Just be mindful that even the rammer can send a clip in of you doing justice and you will be the one that gets banned, which is why i never retaliate. No point. let them have their 3 seconds of fun and next race will be better. Like you say the system is against the better drivers as our inputs are correct while the other person is all over the place and the game is like WTF lol. This is where matchmaking really needs a good update and to be brutal, I rather race with 5 amazing drivers than 23 drivers who have no idea what a brake pedal is. I say it to everyone, especially those who mock empty lobbies, you are not racing 23 people your racing 2 at the most. 1 in front and 1 behind. that is all. no matter your place whether you 20th or 2nd. its still on 2. oh that was such a good film, man the mustang sounded so good. I know the story got a little bit of backlash but it was no different to the games and they did well i would say.

I race in cockpit view - cannot stand chase cam. The "proximity markers" are not up to task. It's almost impossible to be situationally aware without a radar or spotter in your ear.

Absolutely right. I cannot stand chase came unless I’m on a controller. Cockpit view it’s very restrictive in terms of being able to see around you so that’s another level of difficulty right there. the arrows are so dated it’s not hard to update a warning system or create a radar or spotter. If everyone else is doing it why isn’t turn 10. Crazy bud.

Why does Assetto Corsa have the same icons on the lower part of the screen as GT7? Everything from the wetness level left over to the right side with the radar and switching through different stuff there is exactly the same as in GT7..... 😳🤨

Because it is a mod I have used to create my hud. I was using ACC hud then I broke it and cannot get it back, so i downloaded the next one on the list lol I explained the issue on my AC BTCC video. Was quite funny all I did was move an icon on my hud and it all disappeared lol. Try uninstalling etc just would not come back, next one on the list was GT7 and I use that hud.

Yeah. I mean the ACC hud is great and so is the GT hud. Only issue with the gt hud is when you have a white bonnet, Then you cannot see much of the hud. Really it is good, far better than the default AC hud and it’s not too intrusive.

Oooo I could not agree more. That racing line puts you in a trance. Never mind slows you down. Yeah I think half the time people pick it up play without realising that the line is on. As it’s on by default. Crazy when you think about it.

@@Flashms They get so fixated on that line that when they rejoin the track after an off they make a beeline straight to it and end up causing even more accidents. Reporting people like that might get them to learn how to race after their timeout but actual dirty drivers need to be banned. If you want to race like that go play Forza Horizon.

But from what I understand it can take up to an hour to use the turn 10 report system. They will no even entertain looking into it without a video. And funnily enough the replays do not work. lol

@@Flashms I record every race on a USB so I can upload them to my channel plus use them to report dirty drivers. I did one last week and a few days later they replied saying they had dealt with the player and thanked me for helping make the game better. It was pretty easy to do.

@@holden4ever that’s a good idea. I record every race but never used the report system. Like I say. I was told it was really difficult to report. If you’re saying it’s easy then there must be another way that is not commonly known. Either way though turn 10 needs to implement a better ghosting system to reduce the amount of casualties. Like if a car is plowing towards you at like 30+mph more then you should auto ghost out. Or if you are slow on the track. Like you’re doing 50 in a place where the speed is usually 100. Then you should be ghosted out. Or coming back on track. There is so much they can do to help players out. When the rammers have no chance of ramming the fun for them is ruined and they will move onto a different game.

2 cars can fit through there easily, I have done it many times, while others have overtaken me at that exact point, 6.49 you see the MG wheel on the apex, so they closed the door or cut me off whichever way you see it. The bus stop is more than wide enough for 2 cars to go through fully, tight but doable, If the MG didnt aim for the apex contact would not have been made. Again different levels of skill at play here, some can and some cannot do it. while some are not aware of their surroundings or just do not care. Pass and parcel of being online with the world lol

@@Flashms Of course you are right about entering the turn. You would enter together but then he would throw you into the fence with a blow to the left side. He would never drive there correctly and would not slow down. I will tell you as a casual player but understanding racing that this is a difficult turn in itself. And even alone it is not so easy to get there, especially on a controller. Yes, even more so. Understanding how to drive there is not so easy. I mean the principle of passing the turn. There is a similar turn by the way in Daytona, only there it is even faster.

oh yeah 2 going through there and making it out the other side you both really need to reduce your speed, roughly around 80 mph, which non of us did lol. This is what happens when you are both staying committed lol. See i am good at the bus stop at wakins, I usually take it just over 100mph but in some instances where i am feeling brave I have pushed it to 110 and you are holding on for dear life lol. Still being on a wheel and having a lot of experience, 9 times out of 10 i pull it off. the 10th time i fail so spectacularly its worth watching anyway lol. Daytona bus stop is a menace, you really have to get the entry speed spot on else you turn into a lawn mower lol. its one track i used to get right but been such a long time since i raced their that i need practice again. Its also one of those bus stops that drivers can destroy you, where watkins you can get out of the way. At daytona all it takes is for the person behind to just give you a little nudge and your off, 1.5 second penalty for off track and they used you as a brake and get through fine with no penalty lol

@@Flashms Using other players as brakes is a unique technique in this game. :)) It's part of the racing world among players. At the same time, they sometimes complain that you are slow. :) That's why I say that there needs to be tougher penalties for collisions. We need to make players understand that hitting an opponent will lead to them suffering big losses.

got to love it, thing is there is a huge difference in rubbing or elbowing than hitting. In touring cars, many times elbows are out or you use another car as a shoulder going through a corner, but never ram, besides the odd come on hurry up bump or get out of my way i am faster nudge lol. again big difference between a wake up or fun nudge than slamming some one so hard that their in another world lol

It's like the game is made by amateurs. Where are the indications of cars on your left/right corner that you can't see in a game? And track limits on that chicane are a joke. 10:38 The more stuff I see on video, the less I want to play it.

Hahahaha, wait till you hear the sound of the Hyundai touring car. 🤢 Then the rear lights on the ford focus are so bright, it looks like they are always braking. I get the game has its faults. In reality it is a lot of fun and if worked upon it could be something great. I think turn 10 messed up big time. Know they did, and are trying to find away to fix it. While also catering to game pass longevity. Not an easy task. If you look at some of my other races, I do have some amazing races. This really does make the game something special. Does the pros out way the cons. Really I can only say try it, be fair give it a good few hours and make your own opinion. For me though. I really do enjoy it. I just hope pointing out some of the issues, turn 10 will see this. Again I do hope lol. Yeah you are right though the track limits on the inner loop at Watkins glen is unreal. Somehow when I mess up I go over them. Yet others seem fine. Luck isn’t on my side at that moment lol.

in the guys defence, Super GT is on Gran Tursimo, if not heard about the game. it is in his username super "GT" it does not say Super "FZ" or Super "FA" but if you are so obvious, about it i would like to see you do any difrent, or ideas you would done youself. if you havent noticed we are in 2024, alot already been used and done, how easy it is to be copied and so on. better follow up the year mate :)

@@slaastad-racing Super GT started his channel with Forza..... his nickname has nothing to do with Gran Turismo...... GT Sport was a big factor in getting him, where he is now (check out his video concerning the last race in GT Sport, servers were shut down at February 1st), but he isn't nailed onto GT..... he likes to play it more, that's all..... he played Forza before GT Sport and had a mix of both for several years on his channel.... Being more authentic and original is a very good tip. It does take time to find one's own authenticity though, so i am sure it will change over time. He just started and is already making quality content which is an achievement in itself already.
