Winning Strategy in Forza Motorsport GT3

As a Noob to sim racing, I thought I'd share my Forza Touring Car experiences, my wins, my loses and my wtf moments. I try to explain my thought process and hopefully provide you with a learning guide or useful tips.
My strategy is simple, stay alive at all cost. We all know Forza Motorsport can be a little chaotic at times. I hope with a more passive tactic, I can swoop in and take the position. While also improving my own skills as a sim racing driver.
Track learning is key, hopefully by reviewing my race choices and my mistakes, I can help others learn and improve upon their lap times. Thus making the racing world more fun and competitive.
I am using a G920 Logitech wheel, and playing Forza Motorsport on PC using Xbox Game pass. I do not have the VIP, or cars pass, this is the basic game as available to everyone.
I do hope you all enjoy the content, Racing and Sim racing is great fun and helps you escape the harsh reality of the life.

In the game, hard tires are broken. It breaks all tactics. In short races there is no point in going to the pit stop. The one who chose hard + refueling to the end will always win. In long races you always need to make one pit stop and again drive on hard tires.

Just the fact that more pit stops equal more time of the road, hards are noticeably slower than mediums but the time lost is not equal to the time it takes to pit. The only tire I would consider broken is the soft tires. Very rare you get to do a full 3 lap qualify on soft tires without the last lap being compromised.

@@Flashms So this means that they are broken. In real life, hard tires don't work even close to that. Driving only on them without a pit stop, you will be eaten by those who will be on a fast tactic with soft and medium tires. In the game, you drive with a reserve and suffer only on the last lap. In addition, the game has a problematic selection of fuel for the optimal tactic with a particular tires. You are not passing the qualification correctly, so the 3rd lap is ruined. You need to do it this way. You fill up with fuel only for 2 laps and put on soft tires. Start qualifying. The 1st lap is the base time since you have cold tires and there is extra fuel for the 1st lap. And the 2nd lap is the battle lap. If the base lap is good (normal), then you continue qualifying and put the 2nd battle lap (the best lap). You don't need a third one. In real life, there is never one. BUT IF YOUR BASE LAP IS BAD THEN YOU DON'T FINISH IT BUT YOU EXIT QUALIFICATION. Then you re-enter it and you still have the same 2 laps (the car settings are saved). It's like you use all 3 attempts to set the best time. 2 base laps (if one is spoiled) and one battle lap.

Yeah i get that but the tire wear in real life isn't 4x either which is what online Forza is. Doesnt mean its broken though, just forcing you onto medium or hard tires for the duration of the race. There are plenty of races where medium tires were the better choice while on longer tracks hard tires might be the better choice. Its also down to really how far you can push the car. I may be faster on harder tires than other drivers who are on mediums so again provides a variety for drivers. Also I do believe endurance races also have a different tyre wear multiplayer. Which again forces the use of different tactics. Be rather boring if we could all just run soft tires on short medium and long races. Although it would be nice if softs laster a little longer well all tires laster a little longer in general lol With the qualifying its also worth pointing out, quit before you cross the line and not after else itll count you as attempting to do your second lap

Most of the good handling GT cars can take Eau Rouge flat, but you need soft tires, a decent bit of rubber down on the track, and have to nail the angle. Go real wide on entry. I've done it flat with the Ford GT, Corvette C7R, and BMW M6.

@Flashms most let off way too much. Even in lower traction scenarios, like on mediums at the start of a race, a sudden fast lift and back on the power should be enough. Totally flat isn't easy, but the most minor of lifts is usually enough. It's really a high skill corner, and on the reasons it's so famous.

@Kaylos29 yeah that’s fair man. I usually lift and if I need to dab on the brakes to get the weight on the front wheels. Little back end slide can be fun. And if it fails least you look cool doing it lmfao.

No kidding I love it lol, It was an absolute blast of a car, its got great mid range grunt to so really that car that track is a match made right there lol

I've only been able to do Eau Rouge flat out in prototypes in FM8. I have to at a minimum lift at the bottom to let the car change directions before I can get in the throttle to finish the up hill.

Yeah I thought so man. I mean in TC it can be done I have done it although it can be a little brave lol. Same in the TT but everyone in that race was really dropping a whole load of speed in eau rouge this is why I am questioning if the other gt3 cars are to twitchy to do it lol

@Flashms it's definitely a skill thing too. You really want to reduce speed loss there, and GTs are just fast enough to cause you to run wide without a good setup

@kuroshine hahahaha yeah I had that a few times is TC. The penalty system there is not exactly forgiving lol. But yeah the speed lost is huge and it really eats your lap time to. It could easily add up a good few seconds.

​@@Flashmsit's dependent on the car setup too most people run super stiff suspension which makes the cars twitchy on the curbs through Radillion, it's possible if you get the right line with the right setup you've just got to trust the car and keep your foot in it

Can confirm it isn't it's either medium-soft, medium-medium, Hard-soft or finally no stop on hards. You never want a hard to medium

It is in the TT, Medium to medium I would be dead on the last lap holding on for dear life lol, Not sure about other GT3 cars of course.

Hey there! Yes I was trying this out as well. Are you utilizing oversteer and controlling it since putting on the hard tires? I was trying to “fix” the oversteer with tuning but have now realized it’s best to set to where it’s controllable. It was different with touring cars but with the GT cars some oversteering doesn’t hurt.

I didn’t get to much oversteer it was more gliding around. Had more oversteer with better tires such as medium and soft. But on hards it was pretty even and balanced to be honest. GT cars a little oversteer is fine when cornering it only becomes a problem when coming out of a corner and you cannot get the power down. But when going into a corner a little oversteer will help cornering.

@DoomSlayer-ow4jq nice man it’s all part of little micro adjustments and making it suit your driving style bud. A tune I have may not suit the way you drive. So always best making your own tune.

Every tune I've tried on the TT has got awful lift off oversteer. It's pretty difficult to keep under control on the controller, and on a DD wheel it's still an absolute pig when letting off throttle in corners. Anyone recommend any tunes? XD

Yeah does seem to be the nature of the car to an extent. I wouldn’t call mine to bad I’ll have to check what time I am using though.
