Outstanding results Sir.👏👏👏👏 Can you share how many hours lighting & what brand of lights used? Is it dual or single light tube? Did you use any fertilizers or root tabs?

Thanks! I’m currently running 10 hours lights on. Light is a fluval 3.0 LED. No ferts just organic soil 👍

How long is your light period in this setup? Do you have any algae issues on the substrate?

I love your idea for the tank. Any idea what the temperature is like in a closed set up like this? I live in the tropics and the room temperature here can get around 30' celsius. Any idea how i could reduce the temperature in a system like this? Do you deal with any algae issues with the high light and low water levels please?

If you live in a tropical humid location you may not even need the lid! We have cool dry air so in need one to simulate tropical air :) I didn’t have any algae issues but I did have snails in there, in fact I kept the cm of water specifically for them. If you don’t have any snails you could lower the water to be level with or just below the surface of the substrate. 👍

Just a random thought that occurred to me but has anybody ever tried growing Madagascar lace plants immersed? I know in the wild they grow in a variety of different conditions but from what I’ve read ponds are the the closest it comes

When trying to carpet s. Repens, how closely can I replant the propagated stems. If they are too close with they not grow as well?

You can plant them pretty dense. I think about 1 inch apart would be a good density for full coverage, but still allow some growing room to get nice healthy plants.

I am trying a new experiment…When we want to add smoke flavour to food, we burn a small charcoal in a cup and add some butter or oil drops on it… It releases a dense smoke…, I have made a stone pedestal (so the hot coal is above water) and did the same smoke treatment to my anubias plants…all are emersed with a closed tank… The tank smells roasted and I remove the cup once the smoke settles… There is no increase in temp inside the tank and the plants seems growing well… I am not sure whether the smoke helps in CO2, but trying if it will work

Didi you started with just that level of water ? is it to make the plants initially grow fast in air ... or something like that ?
@AquariumPlantLab Жыл бұрын
Yes the plants get more co2 from air than water, thus faster growth. That’s the primary benefit of emersed growth. Once the plant population is up you can submerge them. There will be some melting at first but the plants will rebound provided you have all of their needs addressed :)

@@AquariumPlantLab thanks ... Will definitely try.
