Anker 757 Portable Power Station (PowerHouse 1229Wh)
Anker 625 Solar Panel: amzn.to/3Ii7vwU
With 3000 charge cycles, LFP cells and all of the technology built right in, why bother building a complex RV power system if you are just a casual camper. Of course, some people (like Sasha and I) need gobs of power to run their tech in their full-time RV lives. But, most people out there are just casual weekend campers that need to charge phones, run a coffee pot in the morning, and a hair drier or CPAP at night. The Anker 757 has your covered!
The Anker 757 Portable Power Station (PowerHouse 1229Wh) is truly a beast. The technology of these Portable Power Station systems is becoming really impressive. It's amazing what they can cram into such a small elegantly designed case. It's simple, reliable, and hard to kill. It gives you tons of power wherever you need it, and with the ability to charge from solar, you can really extend your stay!
Let me know what you think! I'm seeing a new world of integrated power devices replacing the old school custom builds of the last decade. What do you think?

Thanks for the info, nice review. One quick note: If this is similar to other LFP units, it will be a "4S" configuration and each cell will contribute 3.20 Volts nominal (3.65 Volts when fully charged). Thus your math at 0:49 should be 1229Wh / 12.80 Vnom = 96 Amphours. That's not significantly different than you reported (102.4 Ah), but just trying to fairly compare Apples to Apples. LOL. ADDITIONAL NOTE: If Anker has varied the battery Voltage inside this unit to some other value, (like 25.6 Volts) the calculations will obviously change. The important thing to remember is that the Watthours won't change, but it's not as easy to compare Amphours @ 25.6 Volts to a different battery Amphours @ 12.80 Volts. In short, if the Voltage is increased by a factor of two, then the Amphours will decrease by a factor of two. Thanks again for the info on this unit.

Hi Doug, that’s a great question. I want able to find any official numbers on the self discharge rate. Lithium Iron Phosphate generally has a 2%/month self discharge rate. So pretty minimal. I would imagine that the Anker 757 does have some residual power draw while in standby, but it would be minimal. I would hazard a guess at 2%-4% / month.

@Stonyboot
@Stonyboot Жыл бұрын
The fans are quiet. They usually don’t run, but the higher the load the faster they will spin. If you are running light loads like a laptop, charging devices or other low wattage devices, the fans will stay off. If you need to run a heater, or anything that draws more than 500ish watts, the fan will kick on. The more wattage you draw, the more the fans will spin. Even on high, they are still fairly quiet.

Do you have a soft start on your A/C? And what did the wattage spike to on compressor startup
@Stonyboot
@Stonyboot Жыл бұрын
I don’t have a soft start. I usually run it off of my Xantrex XC 2000, which handles it fine without a soft start. I’m this case, I just started it like normal. Unfortunately, the wattage display isn’t fast enough to show the true start up load. My ac states something like 54 amps locked rotor start up, but that is only a few milliseconds. I’d love to have a device fast enough and sensitive enough to show true start up draw. Either way, the 757 started it up without a problem. Granted, 102 amp hours would only give me about 1-1.5 hours of run time, but it’s still pretty cool!

You statement of "Longest lasting on the market". I'm curious in what way. Having 1229Wh, I've seen others with larger Wh, with same battery chemistry. New to the solar generator scene. Can you clarify your statement?
@Stonyboot
@Stonyboot Жыл бұрын
It’s referring to the battery chemistry. Their LFP battery chemistry is rated for 3000 full charge cycles. Other portable power stations use different lithium chemistries that are rated in the 800-1200 charge cycles. So that statement is referring to longevity/lifespan of the equipment, not how long it will last on a charge. That watt hour number is the standard for comparing battery capacity. Does this make sense?
@charlesd3376
@charlesd3376 Жыл бұрын
@@Stonyboot OK. Thank you for clarification. Other units I have looked at with LiFePO4 (such a BLUETTI and the OUKITEL) have such claims. Looks like OUKITEL P2001 beats out ANKER for Wh, solar input and inverter size for same price at $1399.00.
@Stonyboot
@Stonyboot Жыл бұрын
I think that at the time of release, that claim was accurate, however, several companies came out with similar units within about 60 days of each other. So that claim may no longer hold true. There is fierce competition in the portable power station market.

do you happen to know of a good portable battery solution that I can use with a holographic fan so I can walk around in public with the holographic fan? they say the holographic fan requires 60 watts. ALSO, is it safe to keep the power station in a ventilated backpack on your back? like will the elecromagnetic radiation give me back cancer or something? any (brand/model) recommendations ? I just want the smallest power supply I can find that can power it for at least 1-2+ (2+ preferably) hours.
@Stonyboot
@Stonyboot Жыл бұрын
This unit would be a little big to carry around, but if your fan requires 60 watts and you want to run it for 2 hours, that's only 120 watt hours. If you look for a power station in the range of 400-600 watt hours, you will have plenty of run time and, it will be smaller and lighter for portability. As for EM radiation, everything electronic emits some, but a battery pack is minimal. Cell phones create more ionizing radiation than most other consumer electronics. I don't think you should be concerned.

A 2200 watt inverter generator that sells for $500 (Top of the line Honda is $1100) will run an 1800 watt load for 3.2 Hours (5760 wh)…versus Anker’s running a max 1500 watt load for 49 minutes (1229 wh) for $1300-$1400. Fuel the inverter in 3 minutes and your back up and running. Hard to give an honest review when you were given the product.

Yep, that's a good contrast. Lifetime running cost might be different, but for single-use the generator gives way more for the money. The other main limitation I see is the 300W max solar input. From most locations, you'll only get something like 10-30% capacity charge per day.

@@andymc1110 think you got some learning to do, 300 watts is 300 watts an hour, for 4 hours a day can easily get 66% if aimed right = 600 watts plus 33% for another 2 hours = total 800 watts and 10% for another 2 hours = total of 1,000 watts. And that's being conservative and not having panels aimed throughout day. On a sunny day is easy to get back to 100%

You missed the most important feature, charging from Solar. All manufacturers that offer poor solar charging means they are scrimping on most other internals hence the price and why I would never rely on these for real life dependency in these interesting times. 300W charging excluding the most important information Volts and Amps for charging from solar means you will be lucky to get 200W (maybe) for a short period of time during the day when the sun is at its highest, as shown from your review and their website. Simple math, which you should of included in this video being all of the other factors do not matter if you cannot charge this from Solar if the grid is down. 1229Wh battery capacity divided by lets say 150W if lucky being they purposely left out the Solar Volts and Amps which is WAY more important than Watts would equal to 8.2hrs of charging from sun if you were lucky enough to. Not trying to be a dick however we are to be politically correct in interesting times, time for the community and everyone to start working together to help everyone out

I have this unit. And it has a MPPT solar charge unit that will utilize available current up to 10amps and available voltage up to 30vdc together. So, to get the 300 watts input you would need 30vdc at 10amps. Also the current supply can exceed 10 amps. (It will only use 10amps of available power) but the Voltage MUST be 30vdc or less or else it will stop charging 👍. It will and does charge the unit on my 30vdc 400watt panel setup in about 4.5 hours from dead to about 97%. I love this thing 👍

ok great... limits ?? how long can ya power a home or rv heating system or just a heater ..frig and lights ..and what happens if the power is out for days and no sun..so then your back to using a fuel generator to recharge the solar unit and keep the rv and or home with family alive....??? we have installed for power outage the generac system ...full auto and it rocks..Ca has the worst governor and power grid which he lets turn the power off when ever they want so ya can't even rely on PG&E..and its been down for days..in the summer and winter...So i guess its better then nothing but have a backup to a backup.cheers..

Each use case is different. You have to know what you’re using, a mini fridge vs a large residential fridge are going to require vastly different amounts of power. The watt-hour rating are mentioned and you can calculate run time based on the power requirements of the devices you want to run. I don’t think this is a replacement for home backup generator. It’s great to run appliances on the road for short periods of time. If you are setup at a camp and have solar deployed, it will increase your runtime because you will be adding power back to the system. There are too many use cases for me to try to cover them in a review video. The Anker site publishes run times for individual devices based upon averages. For your situation, I’d say a trust gas generator is your best bet!

It’s basically a 100 amp hour LFP battery, a 1500 watt inverter, 300 watt MPPT solar charger and a usb/car socket charging system. If you price them all separately and then figure out how to build a case. It’s a pretty good deal!!

These are getting really cool but way too damn expensive. I'll stick with my generator and check them out in another 10 years.

Scott I’m surprised that you’re reviewing a product from a company that sponsors you. Not a good idea.

I’m not sure what you mean, they sponsor me in the sense that they provide a product to review. It’s the entire point of the arrangement.

If you aren’t paying for the product with your own money it’s pretty hard to give an honest assessment when they are supporting you financially.

I get tons of offers every month. I only work with companies that I believe are worthy. You’re assuming that I’m not being honest. I have to cover the details of the product, use it for a while and give an honest review. If it broke, didn’t work as advertised or I had some other problem, I would report that in the video. I actually recorded that 4 weeks ago, I’m still using the 757 for projects and to run fans during the day. It still works. My one gripe is that the display doesn’t stay on long enough. But that is only annoying while trying to record. I have received many products that I refused to review because they are trash. Anker makes great stuff. I’m happy to work with them. It’s nice to make a little money for the video, but I absolutely would not lie about the results.

I wasn’t assuming you were being dishonest, you both come across as just the opposite. My point was simply that human nature being what it is it is awfully tempting to overlook some little things rather than lose a good sponsor. Personally I would rather avoid that temptation. Good for you for the honest reviews, we enjoy the you both.
