No such thing anymore of 110 volts or 220 volts it went out a long time ago.....Every thing nowadays is 120 volts and 240 volts....Anyway Thanks very much.....!...l think if you mount the water bottle horizontal or just a little higher the wick will stay wet....Just saying.

You knew this was coming. For your kiln to work correctly you have to have an Alaska coffee mug, and use it as your loading any lumber into the kiln. I have been watching your films awhile and I see you buy equipment after planning and doing your research. If anyone deserves to have a successful business ( or as we say in Texas " bitness" ) you sure do and I love to see people develop and run small businesses that are successful. You have created and are doing what America was built on, creative ideas and hard work. I am an old man but I have learned so much from your films and I have told my friends about your channel, after I warn them it is contagious. Much success in all you endeavor Nathan!

Woodmizer makes a nice unit (I've run an LT 40 since 1991), but you can do the exact same thing with an old window air conditioner, which is dry by dehumidifying. I run an old 22,000 BTU unit I got for free in a 1,000bdft kiln in my shop that does the same thing as a pricey unit from Woodmizer.

just started attempting milling, i'm freehand cutting with a chainsaw and a 2x4 that i cut as straight as possible on a table saw to use as a guide, haven't cut anything wider than 18" but i'm having trouble figuring out how i'm gonna properly dry this. I have a pretty nice dehumidifier in my basement that keeps the room at about 40% and it stays at a constant 75f all year round, think it would be option to leave them down there with a fan pulling air away from the stack?
@geraldharvill4699
@geraldharvill4699 4 жыл бұрын
You could ago add some dehumidifiers, they serve two things a 70 pint unit will remove a lot of water and it settable to start bringing humdity down and the unit will add heat to the area. Also if you took the ceiling level up to a comfortable height, using the installation as a 7 ft ceiling. you could add more wood without as much work. You should be able to bring wood to almost the door. The flat fans could be mounted in Ceiling for greater air circulation. depending on which way fans are turned as to air rotation. Placing in the ceiling would also mean less air loss due to fans hitting wood stack and short cycing air back to the fan. The cost of adding ceiling air space is studding as you have the dividing material. Just a suggestion. And as far as adding vents air should be able to have fan to bring air in by temperature. I believe Northern Tools have them.

Gerald Harvill - The compressor that Nathan points out is for dehumidification. All a dehumidifier is is a refrigeration type compressor and an exposed cooling coil that is set up to collect moisture from the air and let it fall to a container. I am sure Nile has selected the capacity of the dehumidifier built in to the kiln to match the capacity of the kiln.

When dying pine for dimensional lumber 2x4', do you air dry for a bit to get the "free water" out first or just go straight to the kiln? How long does it take to dry pine for dimensional lumber?

Absolutely beautiful brother. I'm going to start at the base level. Using a Granberg chainsaw Mill and just air drying the wood. I don't want to make a killing. But I sure would like to make a few hundred bucks here and there. Am I going to be an idiot if I try to sell slabs on the cheap without a kiln? I live in a warm dry climate, and I will make sure to sticker the wood perfectly level every 12 in. Around my parts we have fir, Pine, and smaller Oak than you folks have. I would sure appreciate a sentence or two from you to discourage me or encourage me. Either way, I love your Channel. I have been watching you since you first started. Good on ya and your family.

Did you consider a used 20" shipping container for the kiln instead of building the "box" ? I think the used container would have been less expensive but not sure. Perhaps a used container would be too large relative to your need and the heating capacity of the Woodmizer.
