Just my opinion after putting 700k on same motor in a T680, 13spd, w/Carrier APU. 1word...AFTERTREATMENT. A. Replace Inlet/outlet nox sensors...easy n cheap. B. Replace ALL def filters...Def tank has 2, def pump has one, doser valve might have 1....replace them all. Clean def doser head. I dropped and drained def tank and swapped in new def Qual sensor as well(all done at 600k) soot level remained very low as I never idled more than 3-4 mins...used apu religiously. Buy an agt actuator, keep in side box...that'll go as well. ...other than that.., the motor was bulletproof. See you out there.
@dennispfohl47378 ай бұрын
Good list, the only thing I would add is they are not cheap. Just did my output sensor on mine and it was $600 after the core charge! Rediculous what they charge!

From my experience, if you have any brand APU, I strongly recommend taking it to that brands dealership and having them service it and pay extra time for them to really take it slow and check every little thing on it. Also download the manual for it and print it off so you have a copy in the truck when you’re stuck at a rest area in the middle of nowhere with no cell service.

I've learned that the harmonic balancer should be changed every 4-500k. Not a bad maintenance item on a used motor. Of course a proper tune

Look under the bunk or under that tripack main board cover. There will be a usb cable. Plug that into your pc. It has the program that thermoking uses. It will tell you the hours, you can change settings, and so on. There's a couple videos showing what settings to use if you don't want it to cycle on and off.

@mr_burky7 ай бұрын
Paccar is a hit and miss. My opinion they don't have all the bugs ironed out yet, a lot of shops won't work on them either. Those engines are very picky, if something ain't right they will fail tremendously. For example every cylinder in a Paccar engine is a different size🙄

Beautiful truck what would you recommend to change out on a 2020 MX13 paccar?
@dennispfohl47378 ай бұрын
Aftertreatment is virtually the same between paccar and cummins. Change Both nox sensors or carry extras, remove and clean 7th injector and def injector, change def fluid filters, maybe carry new def quality sensor. Check DPS tubes for any blockage or leaks, maybe carry a replacement sensor, remove and clean out turbo charge tube, remove and clean turbo pressure sensor, check VGT acuator and bpv for excess wear on the spring shafts, they normally do have a little soot around them but if they are really black they will need replaced. Check your EGR cooler and or have the egr system flushed once a year by a shop. I know I may be missing some things but thats off the top of my head for now.

You can be the best driver on the road and still lose it all. I went through 6 engines in 2 years. Trucking with my own authority has destroyed me. If you have luck, you are fine. 2 years with minimum overhead and I'm currently trying to sell my truck and trailer with the 6th busted engine for what I owe on it. The way they have done us drivers is wrong. If everyone would quit pulling for bs rates, guys could actually build a business. If you are an owner operator now.... run. Get out of the business. It won't get any better!!!! My biggest mistake was getting my CDL!!!

Deletion is a serious offense. I did approx numbers, with over 20k in fines with replacing most of the DPF system you would have to run 10 yrs deleted to break even🤷. Cleaning the particulate filter every 200k miles, that's 8hrs in a commercial oven, at a dealership will help a lot. Change DEF fluid filter every 100k miles or less, don't be lazy with maintenance
