This is a review of the Hogue Extrak fixed blade knife with CPM M4 Steel

Good factual overview. I was on the fence waiting to see the sheath size, function, etc. You sold me on the Hogue.

Thank you I really appreciate it! The sheath size is 4-5 inches that’s just a guess but definitely not bigger and not smaller. Overall stealth with the knife in it is probably 10 inches.

I still have two custom knives with 6" blades. I keep them because I designed what was perfect for me at that time. I no longer need something that big. Nor that expensive. Anything with a handle much smaller than the Hogue doesn't give me a solid grip. 💯

52100 most definitely is worse than CPM M4. CPM M4 has the edge retention is a little more than m390, but the toughness is WAY better. It might be my bias as I love CPM M4, but the only problem is that it's very corrosive, but hogue took care of that with the cerekote. The extrak is the better deal by far.

To give you an idea of the edge retention of this knife, I'll compare it to elmax. That's the steel in the knife special forces get now. They went to that knife to help in breaching, where rebar remains. They use a sledge hammer to drive the blade through the rebar! M4 harder and tougher than elmax! Amazing knife!

How well does the sheath hold the knife? Is it a good fit or does it rattle around? That's what matters in a fixed blade.

The sheath has been amazing for be it’s been my edc fixed blade for multiple months and it’s never fallen out. The only thing is which it doesn’t matter to me is the m4 blade steel logo I guess you could call it is starting to wear off because of the e sheath

There’s a little bit of wiggle side to side and up and down but I just shook it upside down really hard and it didn’t come out. The only rattle is side to side. It’s personal preference but my ulti clip went back and was grinding terribly so I put a discreet carry concepts pocket clip on it which is amazing and I put it on the left side of the sheath and I clip that to my pants and I put my belt around the sheath which makes the stealth tighter.
