This is a Truly Unique City-Builder | Memoriapolis

Memoriapolis is a brand new city-builder that just entered early access last week, and it's already making waves! In this game, you start in the Age of Antiquity building a sprawling Roman-themed city... but it doesn't end there! There are four distinct ages in the game (though only two in this early access) and you will guide your people throughout them all. In a way, this game is more of a "puzzle" city-builder than anything else, because your ultimate goal is to experiment with different cultures, maps, and build orders to get the optimal score before an age comes to an end. Fascinating game!

Not at all actually, it's not even similar to Civ or any game close to Civ. It feels like a survival game without the constant fear of your population dying from famine etc.

You can reduce tension by reducing the factions taxes. The best way to avoid tension is to separate the cultural districts, ie have a religious only area and a political only area. You were placing cultural buildings randomly which created districts with different cultures next to each other.

He could also, only choose to invite a single type of faction, that matches his own. So in his case, only allow political factions to settle in his city. But the he runs into another problem: each type of faction needs a certain type of cultural building to have been build already and some of them unlock specific cultural buildings. Maybe the solution if to have an equal number of each type of faction and then try to micro them thru decrees, taxation and districts, as you have suggested.

Pleb-Ian. So the cultural buildings and wonders are too cheap, I think. With the ability to build basically everything, the replayability just wont feel different as prioritising the different buildings wont really change between runs.

Was wondering if and when this game was gonna pop up in your videos. Honestly the game is very beautifull, but atm it seems like there's little replayability and not a lot of presure on the player from aggresive AI's that might try to conquer the city. As far as managing the city's build area, a few things that help are: researching improved surveyor's cabins, building a wonder ( wich can be done anywhere and it expands the city's limit by a huge amoun, but it also costs a lot of resources) and upgrading the city centre ofc. One thing to consider is that as the player moves to a new age, they loose the ability to research and or build some of the earlier cultural buildings, so those should be a priority, especialy if you want to invite factions in the city ( and yea, you can invite 10 of the same kind of faction and none of any other kind, wich would be a interesting choice). Overall i would say keep on eye on this game and if the devs keep updating it and adding a few more bits ( warfare and maybe the ability to relocate certain production buildings), it would definetly be worth it.

If the game is 1250 turns long, then… surely 100 turn long decrees is 1/12th of the game? Anyways, I do really, really like the way the city grows and ages organically. It’s going to need a lot of replay value which, looking at the comments, it doesn’t have so much.

Nice game etc, but the transition of ages sucks. Also, the "proximity" thing sucks - it makes sense but it's way too small. I don't want to build an entirely different town when the age progresses! And suddenly all my buildings need repairs and the demand for food skyrockets. These things are just weird. The game is very interesting but it needs some improvements, because some things are just weird.

Just fyi, when watching on headphones your plosives ("P" sounds etc) are really loud. Might be worth adjusting your mic's pop filter or fixing in post, because it's quite distracting from the (otherwise excellent) commentary/content
