Just so you know the xbox series x is $600 and the PS5 is $660 in Cananda. Handhelds are not consoles. Actually physical games on PC were around 15 years ago. So out of 300 games only 150 games don't work. why is it always half the games. Windows 11 lol that is trash. get windows 10. If steam is a rental service then xbox and psn and nintendo are all rental service.

Small corrections: it's not Steam OS and Linux, Steam OS IS a Linux distribution, the game mode and desktop are not 2 operating systems, they're simply 2 different modes. Game mode is equivalent to running Steam Big Picture at startup without Windows' desktop even starting to free resources and desktop mode is just starting said desktop.

Because low battery live is the only actual problem, but it's not steam deck problem, we just lack of technology which will allow longer battery live. Nowdays batteries main goal is safety, capacity is the second goal. So all of this rant tubers just have to add imaginary problems to steam deck in order to get views. And this is hilarious to watch. I’ve been using it for a month now I can say it blew my expectations and they were high. However it’s got issues. Sometimes it just restarts. Idk why it’s random but rare. This one isn’t a deck issue but a steam issue but you can’t run two steam games at once, something I doubt you’ve thought of doing until now but still should be possible. The touch screen is slightly off try to use it as little as possible, also the on screen keyboard doesn’t work half the time on desktop. I just downloaded a keyboard app on my phone but still it’s annoying. However I will say this, anyone who’s argument is that it’s too complex is just flat out wrong. You never NEED to access desktop, you don’t have to go digging through files, if you wanted to spend all your time in big picture you absolutely could and for the most part outside of a couple games and the browser that’s where I stay. The library as well is just fucking impressive. The every game runs on the switch argument is stupid when there are over 8,000 verified games, just verified not playable and in my experience the “playable” ones are only labeled that because they either require you to use the keyboard to log in for the first time or there’s a cumbersome launcher. But to give you an idea of what I mean Elite Dangerous is listed as unsupported. I downloaded the launcher downloaded the game from the launcher and played no issues just as you would on pc

@@christianr.5868 if the engine is right then it will run, with fsr and the smaller res its gon be fine, the new calisto protocol runs at around 40-70 fps on low ofc but it looks great since its on ue4, the game is just unoptimized with mad fps drops but the deck runs that new game so i wouldnt be suprised if if it runs, and in a year pr 2 we will get a new steam deck that will use rdna 4 or 5 that will be on par of a rtx 3060-3070

Side note, you can get the GOG and Epic store to run on Deck, Like Emulation it is not supported by Valve but the community will let you do it, also this clown is comparing apples to Oranges, and then Oranges to pineapples. 1st argument is the store complaint which every console does, every damn one of them and complains about physical copies but holds Valve to a different standard (seriously show me one console that doesn't have full digital distribution at this point, many games on those platforms you cannot get physical copies, many are digital only) then later is complaining about emulation and alternative stores (which he is wrong, you can do all of that on Steam OS), show me one console that is going to support emulation outside of their store and support competitors stores on their platform. I mean you can always play God of war and uncharted on X-box right, I mean the console wars are just a figment or our imagination and exclusivity doesn't exist at all anywhere but the steam deck.......this guy is a clown. I will correct you on the DRM though, not ALL games are DRM friendly, Sonic Origins from my understanding is using the Denuvo Bullshit and is not playable off line from a few comments which is why I didn't get it and stuck with my emulation, haven't tested it personally just going with what I saw, but there are a few games that use their own DRM that makes it impossible to play off internet,...but you would get that with a console as well, But you are correct that the DRM Valve uses is very friendly. Can I play a low grade Bethesda Studio piece of trash game (Not Bethesda ID, DOOM Eternal is f-ing awsome, I am specifically referring to Todd Howard's team who had a great product, and milked it to death and not once fixed core issues in the engine leaving it to moders to fix it every damn time), yea I probably could....but I won't. The Deck was not designed for High end gaming, it can handle it and it can handle it fine, but it tears the living crap out of the battery, there are tricks such as upscaling the resolution, turning down GPU intensive process such as Shadows and ambient occlusion, limiting fps, and it can run the game just fine and it still looks good because it is small screen, anything greater than 1080 is pointless on such a small screen, heck more than 720 doesn't do much, and it saves power, if I want those big pretty graphics, I go to my computer, which lays his little x-box to waste if we really want to drop the drawers and compare sizes, that is not what my deck for, my deck is to play games on the go, that fact it play games that are on his series S is an option, not what I actually use it for. I do also want to correct you, there is only 1 OS on the Deck, Steam OS, this is a Fork or Arch Linux, Desktop mode is just a UI, it is all 1 OS, if you are not a Linux user it would be easy to misunderstand differences cause other operating systems only have 1 UI, Linux has several different UIs. Desktop Mode is KDE which is the closest to Windows which is why they chose it, it is more familiar for Windows users to get into, I personally prefer the Cinnamon UI made by the Mint team, but to each their own. Also the Deck is modular under the hood, You can upgrade the drive, and down the road I wouldn't be surprised if other things become upgradable the APU and memory, or heck maybe even the display since everyone wants to bitch about it not having an OLED. This is 1st and foremost a computer, I can see Valve releasing verified components that they will support drivers for, but it is only a matter of time before Linus finds a freaking Oled that will fit into this thing and swap it out just because he can.

As a Canadian who can’t afford a steamdeck (right now), we don’t claim this clown. He doesn’t realize that the point of a handheld is to be powerful enough to play a number of games while you’re away from your home and more powerful gaming platform. If the price is your major hang up, there are much cheaper options. The AYN Odin Light, while weaker than the steam deck, can do everything it can (include install Linux and Windows) and is less than $300 Canadian. It’s literally the switch lite to the steam deck’s OG switch and costs $300 less than Valve’s handheld. This clown should have done more research.

You can actually buy skins for a a good discount on 3rd party skin marketplaces like bitskins, skinbaron, cs money, buff163 (or whatever you prefer) with good discount, sell them on steam community market and pay like 10-15% less in total. So his complaint literally applies to consoles, and NOT the steam deck. Also his little jab at starfield is 100% going to age perfectly, calling it now. You have to create an Xbox Live account to play certain SINGLE PLAYER Xbox Live Arcade games, AND the console itself is extremely picky about which profile you use to sign in to do that, AND there isnt a simple "create account" button anywhere on the screen. I could NOT get Rare Replay's Banjo-Kazooie to run on my brother's Xbox One with my profile, I had to use his profile. Steam has never given me that issue.

My theory is that hes mad that the Steam Deck isn't in regular shops so now he can't scalp them, because all o =f his points are pathetic. For one Valve gotten really good with their supply and shipping so if you order one now you'll get it in a week or two, Valve is even opening shipping to new regions. Secondly what store will ket you test out a console/PC before you buy it? Yeah occasionally they will have a stand in model running but I haven't seen one of those in years and like already mentioned everyone just orders these days. Also Windows on the Deck is getting better it's just not Valves priority. Lastly a small kicker her all consoles are running on some variation of Linux.

You don't even need to get games through steam, unlike consoles where you have no other option but their own store. It is a computer, you can buy games through GOG, install old CD rom installs with wine, or just straight up pirate all your games if you wanted to. You can't install games on an xbox that don't come from the xbox store or on an xbox disc.

PC physical games exist still but are few and take a lot of effort to source and generally cost more. They are a novelty.

@@Dwivil At the very least they have a CD key. I bought a game that later the CD key was redeemable for a digital version that being Alice Madness Returns and that and Diablo III base game are the last two physical PC games I have purchased so for me it has been a while.

@@Dwivil My last physical games did not have codes for a digital download just a cd key but later the cd key worked for a digital download but not for years later. I guess it is just a sign of wanting to move on. My Diablo 3 I have not checked in a while it might work to redeem a digital code by this point who knows.

Yeah I used to byu a lo tof games on disc though these days not so much as I'm almost completely digital. I did order a copy of Midnight Suns earlier for my series X but I don't tend to byu disc versions of games very often these days and when I d owant to play a game I have on disc then I'll just plug in my external disc drive

My steam deck got stolen and delivered to the wrong address and gotten delayed for weeks. Even though I have no games in my library since I am new to steam and there have been so many obstacles I am still super excited to get a Steam Deck.

Most games that are fully compatible just means that the controls aren't set for the decks layout so you spend 3 min setting them and boom your good to go I've yet to play a game that doesn't run

Just looking at CSGO, DOTA 2 players, there should be at least 100 million steam players with steam account, which steam os supports, so i don't think its a niche OS anymore, also fuck windows, steam os is liberating PC..

Also about the "just get a laptop" thing I was fortunate enough to find a gaming laptop for ~650 USD that was really high quality for it's price point but it would only perform better than the cheapest Steam Deck option, so I got the more expensive version of the laptop for double the price which is still a little weaker than the best OLED model. Acting like the Steam Deck isn't affordable for what you get out of it is just dumb, he'd have a stroke if he saw what OneXPlayer charges for their devices
