Thank you Scotty for a tour of old downtown Fairmont. Before the Times West Virginian took over the paper the newspaper was called the Fairmont Times and on Sunday they added the West Virginian. The Fairmont Theater used to be where the new rehab building is located. In addition, there used to be a wedding store above the theater and BF Goodrich store on the corner. I wonder if the Elk's are still using that building. The Veterans Square used to be GC Murphys store. They had two entrances one on Adams and one on Jefferson. McCorry's used to be where the General Dollar Store is now. Before Adams office supply that used to be City National Bank and Westbanco was First National Bank of Fairmont. Adams Office used to be on the corner where Huntington Bank is now. Too many changes; it is mind boggling. I appreciate you taking the time to show these parts of Old Fairmont and Marion County. It's history past, present and future.

A friendly fyi... They still print 4 days/week. They have an office somewhere and I often see people going in and out of the paper building. I won't swear they're paper employees because I've never asked. The paper may well be located elsewhere now but something still uses the place.

A little info concerning parking in the area of the times wv'ian. There is a plethora of public parking in that block. When you turned around beside the Times West Virginian building because the parking lot required passes, there was another lot just 100 yards down that street that is public parking. There also is the parking garage on Adams St within that same block. None of it is free during business hours but it's not expensive. One last bit, there are several metered spaces along the streets at that end of Adams as well as a sizable lot beside the post office. I'm not as familiar with the parking at the other end where you wondered about where do people park...but my end of Adams, where you were when beside the times wv'ian has plenty of spaces for the public.
