I grew up in Fairmont West Virginia and the mid-90s and it was a very nice city then and now it's just run down and very sad to see

I don't think I ever stopped over in Fairmont. Been all around that area to Clarksburg, Moundsville, Morgantown, and Weston but not Fairmont. Neat to learn about the mother's day.

I was also surprised to learn mothers day came from West Virginia. We even celebrate it in China.

Lived on Kingmont road in 97/98. I miss the Tygart river. I wish you had visited Arden. It's truly a beautiful spot on the river.

I was born and raised in Fairmont and the county club bakery was 3 mins from my grandma's house. Fresh baked pepperoni rolls with cheese and sauce are DELICIOUS

My mom grew up in grafton, and I grew up in Philippi. I want to go back to visit but I’ve heard it’s a lot more rundown now.

Great Video! sadly as you can see the coal trains have come to a stop as a result on the false current administrations war on coal .Two Years ago things were different and that area was coming back to life coal and natural gas along with manufacturing .Hopefully things will get better when we can vote these troubles out......

It is sad to see how decisions from a far away place can have such an impact on local life. I hope that sometime soon it turns around, and even if there aren't trains of coal moving about, maybe there can be trains full of people coming to see these hidden gems in the mountains of West Virginia.

There is no "war on coal". That was all make-believe propaganda from the delusional mind of Bob Murray. Once fracking for natural gas became a thing,, that almost immediately knocked coal out of the game domestically. The only things keeping it going as it is are foreign markets, tax break incentives, lobbying, having environmental laws temporarily amended etc. But year, the "war on coal" haha... there never was one to begin with. Back when Bob started that nonsense, Obama had much more on his plate to deal with than whether coal or natural gas was to be used. He had shit like the 2008 recession and aftermath, the Taliban spring offenses, withdrawal from Iraq, and ISIS / ISIL that needed attention. Coal was the last thing he was concerned with

That train wasn't stopped. That was actually a still photo with editing effects to make it look like the person was walking and panning back and forth. That train is very much in motion. Even if it were idle, it was probably just waiting for clearance and was soon on the move. And that scene in Grafton with all the locomotives is very normal for Grafton. Those units are likely assigned trains already and are just waiting for them to finish switching

I was out, spending a week in Morgantown, but I drove past Fairmont in favor of Clarksburg and Bridgeport… I’ll check it out the next time!

Bridgeport and Clarksburg are also interesting little places to visit. West Virginia is full of surprising little towns like that.

Add Wheeling, WV up north about an hour from Morgantown… drove thru back in 1985 on a cross country trip and I couldn’t stop but it was sooo cool… but (finally) got back this year and spent a day. Looking to produce a play next July (2023) at the UofWV and IF that plays off.. I may relocate from the East Coast because Live Theater is DEAD in NYC and Philly. It must be done on a small scale with a built in audience of retirees… like Morgantown!

I think traditional values have gone for good sadly I live in Idaho and gun culture and traditions are alive and well in the rural part of state
@exotictravelwithrain95042 жыл бұрын
Growing up in China we didn't have guns, so they are still a little strange to see for me, but Im not against it. I think a lot of Chinese people would be interested in trying to shoot a gun at a shooting range.
