@@lachieb5843 Maybe. But it's possible to create them so that they enhance the aero rather than detract. Like the 'turbulators' on a Ping, it's a matter of how the air moves. If they really want to cut through the air, they could also squash the face more. Which would force us to tee it lower but it would push less air. Basically a 3 wood with a a driver loft and shaft length. Pushing less air would make it faster. I remember when 460 cc heads came out. My driver at the time was a 350 cc Cobra. The move to 460 cc made you really notice how much the air pushed back at you. Especially since at that time, the faces were even taller than they are today though maybe not quite as wide. I still have that first 460 cc Cobra I bought. It's not a club I use anymore much, but it's fun to hit around corners when I play a course with a ton of left doglegs. It's offset by a ton so hooking it is easier than not.

I play the LS. Love it. Took some getting use to. I’m a really high spin player. My fitter was getting frustrated. 3 degrees up. 2 degrees in to out. Everything was spinning 3000 +. The LS with Kali White 70x was 1800 to start. Finally figured it out and now it’s perfect. One thing I will say… you have to tee it a bit lower. Small head from top to bottom. Very long

Hey - 11 months on, curious how the driver has performed for you? I'm similar age, similar swing speed (up to 110 but on course, typically around 107) and am toying with the LS while they're currently marked down. Currently gaming a Sim Max and it can be a bit spinny at times. Playing into the wind it can be a bit balloony. What are your misses like with it?

I like the color scheme of it. You are right do companies in general (not just Cobra) really need to come out with 3 different Driver Heads?
@KMMHL2012
@KMMHL2012 Жыл бұрын
They do now, the companies tried to compete with one another, and created this market for options to tailor to a buyers needs. Now they are in the thick of it, with all these companies having to produce it, because if they don't, they can lose market share to the competitors who still offer this "tailored" buying experience. When in reality all we really want is companies to make the effort to make an adjustable driver than meets the demands, distance and forgiveness.
@ConnorLyon

100% they do. A large quantity of players slice, probably half the golfers in the world slice it. Another large quantity hit the face so inconsistently they need the forgiveness. For the remaining amount of players who hit the centre consistently, they have so much speed they want less spin.

However this was only slightly better on dispersion and my Cobra F9 still went further. First off great review. Love your videos. Love my AeroJet LS. Went for a fitting a little over a month ago. Increased my average drive by 12.3 yards from my previous driver Taylor Made SIM. During the fitting, I also tried the Taylor Made Stealth 2 Plus, Ping G430, and the Callaway Paradym, and the numbers came out with the Cobra AeroJet LS being the best for my swing. It also brought my spin rate down 698 rpms. Went with the 9 degree loft, but increased it to 10.5 degrees, went with the Kai'li Blue 60 S shaft. I explained to my fitter that I wanted to avoid the snap hook, as that was costing me strokes. I have the 12g weight in the heel and the 3 gram weight in the toe. The reason there are 3 different models, is the AeroJet Max is draw biased, the LS is fade biased and the standard AeroJet is neutral. I disagree from the standpoint of having 3 weights in 1 version. I think Cobra got it right with 3 different drivers. I also do not even notice the design you didnt care for by the shaft, but it was a great observation on your part. Until I watched your review I did not even see it . This is my first Cobra Driver and I love it. Thanks for all of your videos. They are really informative.

The reason they do not use the three weights is due to the effect on the overall weight on the club head. As someone who is a collegiate golfer and works with Pro Long Drivers regularly, the weight of the head is key for optimization and with clubs already taking as much weight out, they push the limits with the weighting already which can cause a change in swing speed. The drivers being close between the normal and LS is not a bad thing since low handicap/pro golfers look for minimal change and it only being 100 rpms is nice. Pros experience that same difference per factor of equipment like shaft and golf ball, so they can make the spin lower/higher if they want to elsewhere.

I won’t be replacing my Cobra F6+ driver. Moveable weight for high-mid-low launches. Hits laser straight and hard to hit fades or draws even when I try. Adjustable loft-draw-fade at the hosel. Been a golfer for 35+ years and if I need to drop back from stiff to regular shaft flex then a new shaft with grip onto the old F6+ head and good to go. I got lucky with the beautiful Dragonfly paint that morphs blue to purple to blue. It gets a lot of positive comments just on looks and then more on how it launches a ball.

I agree with your assessment and it's odd that cobra went this route considering Cobra literally made a hybrid with the 3 weight setup (toe, heel and back) called the Cobra King TEC (2021). This would give us optimal customization of our club if they put weights on all 3 sides. I did however end up purchasing the Aerojet Max since I slice pretty often and I will say that it works wonders. I now hit it straight or with 0 - 20 yard draw from my target. It is extremely rare for my to slice the Aerojet max unless I strike it off the heel with a bad swing. I've even hit the Aerojet Max on the far toe side with very little negative consequence which is amazing compared to my Cobra Fly XL. So far I love the max and how much it has improved my drive both with accuracy and distance.

Totally agree Rick, I got to demo the PXG gen6 with the 3 weight port system I was able dial in a little more toe weight and back weight to protect against a toe miss low spin. My cobra LTDX LS is the longest driver I’ve ever played due to higher launch and lower spin with great looks and feel but is susceptible to low spin hooks. That driver would have been unbelievable had it had a back weight for a little added stability.

Hi Rick, I love your review and that 3 weights idea should have been a dealbreaker for Cobra. But I want to come back on your price critique. You said that they would have dominated the market if the price was 350 pounds. But to think about Cobra and the current state of the inflation they are actually doing a great job. the F9 came out in 2019 and costed 350. The current inflation difference between now and then is 17%. So if the F9 came out this year it would have costed 409 pounds. They probably calculated what the future inflation rate will be of June/July 2023 and then they are actually selling it for a price in 2019 which was then 345 pounds. The hard but sad truth, our bucks are worth 60 pounds less than just 4 years ago. I think that we still have the same Cobra we know and love! And that if they wanted to use us for their profit they would probably have raised it to 449 pounds. I hope that you are not reading this, like I'm a know-it-all, but an enthusiastic and supportive fan of you and Cobra! I just love Cobra for what they are doing and I believe they are doing this to love us! Keep continuing making your video's, I love them sinds the very beginning and I will never stop watching you! Kind regards, A proud LTDx LS owner and big fan of you!

When I got my Driver I had to choose between the Radspeed and the Mavrik, I chose the Mavrik but the Radseped was a close 2nd only losing by a couple yds and mph

I currently have the RadSpeed and hands down the best driver I've owned. I had the F9 (still do) which was great but imo RADSPEED was the best Cobra driver. I'll definitely try the Aerojet and see if it's any better.

Instead of the Aerojet they could have rolled out with what you were saying with the F9. Just with the three weight system, named it the Cobra Resurrect. After having the F8 and the F9, F9 face broke. I believe this is the year I will buy a new driver, i so far think I will be taking a closer look at the Ping G25 and the Callaway Paradym this year.

Very well constructed argument for the three weight system. I'd love to see you call up one of Cobra's club engineers and see if it's possible to either do a video in their truck talking about the pros and cons of that idea along with learning some basic things about club design in general from an expert. Or do the same on the podcast...

Hi Rick. Question..... Why would you not spend more time with the Max version? I ask this based on three tings: 1. You were in love with the F9, with good reason. 2. You currently use a Ping 425 Max. 3. Would I be wrong in saying that most golfers are probably going to use the Max? I do agree with your reasoning regarding only having one driver though....

Great review. I still have my SpeedZone for the very reason you mentioned. I was intrigued by the RadSpeed putting 2 weights up front but didn't like the colors they came in. Last years driver looked great but I don't want unequal weights in the front. I would buy a 3 weight driver in black with 2 Equal weights up front and a third different weight in back that could be swapped with one of the forward weights to create draw or hook bias.

Cobra is so underrated for some reason. I got the Radspeed driver for Christmas and immediately went from around 240 average with a 10 year old Ping to 275+ nearly every time. My last round I hit a 326 yard drive that is easily my best ever. These things hit rockets

Gosh I totally concur with you assessment on the missed opportunity brother! I'm hitting the PXG 0311 GEN 5 because it meets exactly the format that you conceptualized for what this driver could have been. Three weight slots, and PXG sells a range of weights for the player to be able to outfit the driver with any weight config that they want, to include just putting the same weight amount in all three slots for those of us who just want to make that driver head exceptionally heavy. I hope Cobra takes that concept you depicted here to heart!

I’m upgrading from my Cobra Fly-z plus to the AeroJet this year . I agree, Cobra should just make one driver with three settings. What I love about my fly-z, you could put the weight in front or back, and adjust the loft. I guess the LS would be right for me, since I play my Fly-Z with the weight in front and set to 8.5 degrees. Cobra makes some amazing equipment, so very underrated as a brand.

Honest review as always. Your numbers with the F9 and Titleist TS2 and TS3 from 4 years ago were better. So, you are right in saying that the new drivers are not an improvement on a driver that can be picked up for £125-150. As a golfer with a limited budget, what are we really gaining from the improvements in technology over 4 years? TM original M2, Callaway GBB original Epic, Cobra F9 still perform as well as the current crop. Is the real answer to stick with what we've got until we need to replace in c 5-10 years?

I've been playing the F9 irons since they came out and I love them. Once this driver came out, I bought last year's LTDx Max (not a fast swinger of the club) with the price drop. Can only seeing it indoors at a simulator, I'm in Michigan, USA. So far, indoors, I'm excited for it!

The weights in multiple positions is what drew me to the PXG gen5 and stealth plus that I currently use. I’m currently fighting a slice but with weight in the heel I hit it straight 95% of the time. As I improve, I’ll be able to reconfigure the driver to my needs. Sub70 has a driver with a weight system similar to PXG. I’d really love to get your opinion on that driver. And even with a ventus velocore shaft it’s sub 600 dollars.

Absolutely love Cobra Products. People are soo quick to go and get Taylormade or Ping and look past Cobra. I've had my F9 as a replacement to my second hand driver when I took golf up last year and it is nothing but forgiving and the performance is great. I 100% agree with Rick though that if companies just did a single option driver it would make life soo much easier and not mean you have to go out and get a new driver every time you change shot shape. Amazing review as always Rick. Not biased and just says it as it is.

Love the single model suggestion, Rick. I play a Ping SFT and now that I've gotten my swing under control, I'm having regrets and wish I had MAX. Could sell the SFT but the 2nd hand market for it probably isn't amazing and I'd have to order another driver, losing money in the long run.

I had an F7 and F9. Great drivers and loved their sound/feel. Not a fan of the face shape, too shallow and small compared to Paradym, Ping G430 or TSR2. Good point on making 1 driver instead of 3.

I agree on the 3 weight system, the Cobra King Tec hybrid has the 3 weight system and is a massive game changer. Liked it a lot but didn’t fit my game very well but is a great hybrid for those who don’t like to use fairway woods.
