Prima facie, there's a reasonable conflict of interest if someone must preside over the criminal trial of the person who gave she/he an enormous career/status improvement: a lifetime appointment as judge. Plus this is the judge that already has been struck down twice by the 11th Court of Appeals, on this very same matters, with a scathing decision stating that she abused her discretion. All the abuses, of course, to the absolute benefit of Trump: the 'Special Master' ruse & the barefaced pretention that she could stop an ongoing DOJ investigation involving national security. No less. All that screams pro-Trump partiality. Loud, barefaced pro-Trump partiality. There are two issues here with Cannon. One is that she has the unenviable distinction of being the first judge ever to handle a case of this precedent and enormity, so no one can say that another judge might have handled this case any better, as far as the huge volume of documents she has to deal with and the endless evidential hearings and motions. The other issue is that Cannon has bent over backwards for Dump, accommodating him at almost every level with his delay requests, despite being chastised by the Circuit Court of Appeals. It doesn't win her much sympathy.

The criticism of Cannon is not only over speed, that is a complete mischaracterization. If Cevallos hasn't been following the case, he should not be on screen talking about it. For a start, she, for no legal reason, intervened in the investigation leading up to this case. That is unprecedented and brazen. She appointed a special master in bad faith, demonstrating bias and naked partisanship. Her failure to recuse herself from the trial is, therefore, utterly outrageous and creates the appearance of impropriety. The FACT of impropriety has been shown, beyond reasonable doubt, by her subsequent conduct Failing to make even basic decisions for months, then making terrible ones, things a first year law student would get right, she has then taken months to walk them back - that's not incompetence, carefulness or "slowness", it is deliberate, malicious delay.
