@@khakibase38 I think it's about both. I think that this song explains how she wants to live her age without all this people she loved around her, by remembering all the good times. As I see it: The girl in the white dress and the lizard may represent her past and her teenage or child years but also symbolize her friends (Jonghyun and Sulli). And I looove the eight title, because is her age (28), Jonghyun 's birthday (April 8th) and the years of her friendship with Sulli (8). So it's all related and poetic, just as every art piece that IU releases. So... let's not stick with just one meaning, it's art and it can have multiple meanings.

There’s so many small details to notice, and at first listen it sounds like a happy summer song. I think that’s what’s so genius, when artists do that. Let ‘first time listeners’ get a generic understanding, and let people who are interested, get a deeper meaning out of it.

One theory: The song it's about saving all the good memories with someone who you can't meet anymore. In the beginning of the MV, in the orange screen, it's wrote something like "Do you want to save all the memories?" I think you've already seen in other comments people saying this is about her friends who passed away and I agree. A Little Lyrics Interpretation Here: In SUGA's Rap, He writes 'Farewell like a disaster message' Disaster messages are some announcement sent by the South Korean government to the citizens' phone to remind them for any emergency or dangers But the problem is the government sends messages even for the most little thing, take COVID-19 as an example, people even receive 'disaster messages' reminding them to wash their hands So for Koreans, 'Disaster messages' are somethings they have to deal with multiple times a day without acknowledging their wills to receive or not, and many of the Koreans find ways to stop receiving these messages Thus, SUGA uses 'Disaster messages' to express that there are numerous farewell every day without asking his will and he doesn't want to deal with farewell again (just like the lyrics in 1st verse: everything comes at will and leaves without saying goodbye, now I don't want to love anything anymore) and the 'Eternity' in 'let's meet again on this island after this eternity' actually means 'an endless Kalpa (suffering)', which is bad and unescapable So I think the lyrics maybe meaning that actually, the two will not meet again despite they promised to when they were still in love Matching with his previous lyrics 'the words of promising eternity are just sandcastle (which is fake/ fragile)'

Ugh there goes my feels this morning (for me at least lol) at the vocals, the lyrics being bittersweet and the music sounding so upbeat. I'm really loving it. Glad to see your reactions also as newb since I've only been getting really deep into kpop slowly over the years like last year only knowing one 2ne1 song and CL's solo song, some Blackpink songs and other random songs, but just really got into it back in January when I finally decided to get into BTS. I used to listen to Japanese pop and rock back in high school over 10 years ago but kpop is a whole new world for me. OOH And if you wanna check out another song that was produced by SUGA you can listen to 'Wine' by SURAN she is also on his Agust D mixtape song 'So Far Away' its on soundcloud or Spotify I think. I always think it'll be better if you could focus more on the lyrics when you watch lyric videos. Bts are known for their lyrics, a huge part of a listener experience will be cut short if you overlook the lyrics. That's always the case. This song in particular, was supposed to be extremely sad because it's released shortly after the death of IU's best friend. She as a celebrity too, chose to leave the world through suicide last year. That's why although it's upbeat, i find it very suffocating, i even teared up while reading the lyrics. If you don't read the lyrics and is busy jamming to the song, such empathy wouldn't be realized. Of course, i know there are people who care for jamming more, but i always think the lyrics are the root of a lyricist. It's fine if you don't concentrate on the lyrics for singers who doesn't write their own, but for artists like IU and BTS who are known songwriters, i don't think that should be the case
