As a Singaporean, I would recommend Singapore as a great place to visit and if possible to stay for a few months, soak in the innovative vibe and take in as many ideas as you can. But like Japan, be forewarned the pace is intense. As days turn into months and months turn into years, it will wear you out. There is always someone better after your job, some other company trying to destroy yours. If you get a good business running, it is tempting to run it 7 days a week. The money can be good. Taxes are low. The time will come when you will yearn for less crowds and more wide open spaces and your own space, and this city living will become a pleasant curse. Pleasant because it is safe and clean and how long you want to tolerate it before it drives you crazy.

Thanks NatGeo for a brilliant documentary affording Singapore the well-deserved recognition and achievements that many in the world aren't aware. The details found in this documentary is highly educational and informational which perhaps many wouldn't have known even if they live in Singapore. Singapore is not perfect by any measure, and so is every other city out there. Nevertheless, Singapore's achievements are remarkable relative to many other cities. I am proud to be Singaporean (in a humble way) and the amazing feats we have achieved thus far while we continue to push the boundaries of possibilities to surpass previous milestones. Kudos and heartfelt appreciation to the SG government, all Singaporeans as well as all the talented and hardworking foreigners living and working in Singapore, who have contributed extensively to this amazing city. Keep it up SG!

Also to note: Elon Musk tried to make a TESLA partnership with Singapore. However Singapore declined that partnership. Elon assumed that Singapore was "opposing alternative vehicles" as our income would rely on fossil fuels. However, we hit back hard with the data that individual electric vehicles is less of a movement to protect the environment and instead a way to capitalise on the fact that it is a "Lifestyle" and that it would be more effective to have a Mass-Public Transport system that could reduce the number of vehicles, and there could also eventually be alternatively powered public transport as well.

Electric cars make more sense in countries like America with very little public transportation. Public transport > electric cars > petrol or diesel cars
@channelhoward4 жыл бұрын
@@ritwikreddy5670 Yes, in general this is true. It is also important to note that creating electric cars is incredibly energy intensive, and if a family is buying an electric car to replace a petrol car that they already own, this is not really accomplishing much. But for first-time automobile buyers who do not have the option of public transportation, then purchasing an electric car is definitely better than a petrol one.

Just Facts Just Facts it’s also usually illegal to protest without government consent. Many of the laws from back then are still in place. I should have said it’s still focused on economic growth but have given a little more voice to the citizens. It’s a great place to visit, but to live is a different story. High land costs and troublesome laws. This is an excerpt from the constitution “parliament may restrict the right to freedom of speech, assembly or association if it’s necessary or expedient in the interest of the security of Singapore”. They’ve given so much power to the Prime minister so all these are very accessible to him even though it says parliament decides. I couldn’t care about lgbt but things like these are still illegal in Singapore, and companies who support these have been suppressed from holding events.
@marcuslen245 жыл бұрын
@@spigbungus I suppose, but Singapore is definitely an outlier from countries with those similar policies. Marcus Len I wouldn’t say that it’s that different. If you noticed among the asian tigers all countries went through a similar phase. The government does a superb job in protecting property rights, facilitating free trade, and keeping the overall regulatory burden low while still enforcing pollution control guidelines. It is so remarkable to see what can happen in a "start up culture" such as Singapore, where people have the freedom to innovate. If only more of the world's countries would follow Singapore's model. Hatts off! Singapore. Simply outstanding and unbelievable. People who born their are just lucky to have good life.

Anudeep Sudhati are you sure? They are lucky to have the housing program and all but it’s still the second most expensive city to live in. It maybe great for vacationers but actually living there is probably a different story.

I would say yes Singaporean are lucky. No matter how low is yr salary you can afford a apartment. Yes may he small but still yours. Maslow's law, basic then safety needs. Simple but many don't follow due to politics

I know lots of locals who want to move out but most foreigners I met wish they could live here (they haven’t been able to get residency, and these are company owners from UK, Italy etc). Myself I’ve grown to find that this is the best place for me to live. I get to do what I want whenever I want. I can go to my Japanese supermarket don don ki at 11pm and the local Super market at midnight. I can drive to Marina Bay at 2am and walk around a world famous park without any fear. In fact I did exactly that last week.

As a Singaporean I freely admit that Singapore is really no big deal in everything. We are not the best in manufacturing, not the best in higher education, not the best in human rights and many others. But I dare say we are one of the very few country that manage to score high in every key denominators that define one as successful. We do this often by pushing ahead unequally among the stakeholders leaving some behind. Cracks are already formed and one day we might turn insular like so many nations today have. But until them, I wish the party never stop in sunny Singapore.

Im a singaporean myself and i would want to ask you a simple question "With all these so called achievements in scores and rankings, but are you happy as a human being"? The answer is no because our society is one of the most materialistic, selfish one.

Bad doomer take, but there are definitely Singaporeans like you, every society has its pessimists after all. But best to pay you no heed. As a Singaporean I think you're spouting doomer nonsense, while getting off on self-deprecation and self-pity.
