You don't have the right to turn left before oncoming traffic because while the road DOESN'T continue straight on, you're obliged to follow the lights. It's just a 3-colour light for you at the intersection, so you can only turn left when it's safe to do so, which in this case, it was not the right time for Shayan's student to turn left.

​@@Mobile_Gamer707 No, if you look at what I said before, I said that the video shows the standard 3-coloured light at the intersection. In that case, yield to oncoming traffic until it's safe to take the left turn. If you're at a special light (4 lights) with a dedicated left turn light, if the green left turn arrow comes on, you must make your turn at the intersection unless it is unsafe (like when there are many cars waiting to turn left and you are not near the front of the line). If you get the green arrow to turn left, you definitely have the right of way - the oncoming traffic will see a red light. If you're confused about lights, you might want to take a look at your ICBC handbook again to make sure you understand the difference and purpose of the 3 lights vs 4 lights at intersections.

Funny how you don't acknowledge the car that does not signal and crosses over a solid line to veer around the truck into other right lane !! Is that not dangerous and illegal? Not sure who is teaching these people to drive these days but they are not learning properly and just don't care about others safety. Even Police are not signaling these days.
