@@martha7811 It is so sad to think about. I wonder why they shot her? Was she being aggressive? We've had bears in a rural area mainly wanting out bird feeders, and have been told by the DNR just to leave them alone and NOT to feed them, so they go back to their natural habitat. Never had they advised to harm them in any way.

Bert, you could build some 1 car garages with studio apartments on top and 2 car garages with 1 or 2 bedroom apartments on top. With the importance of garages there, sounds like a great solution in a minimal footprint. The only downside that I see is that they can’t be ADA.

It’s so good to see you both joking about together, Audrey singing, the garden growing, and of course Nana & Papa’s insert. Thank you for sharing life and thoughts with us. I cant imagine living somewhere with such long daylight hours, I find it disorienting when I visit family in Scotland in June and they have 18hrs of daylight, here on the south coast of the uk our longest day of the year is about 15 to 16 hrs. We do not have aircon in most homes in the UK, mainly because it is rarely above 24C on average although we do get heatwaves and it can rise to 30/31C. We have just lived through a heatwave over the last week which had the upper floor reaching 27C at night! However, tonight (it’s 4am) we are being treated to the most amazing thunderstorms and torrential rain, and we are back to 20C (68F) which is pretty much the only temp we Brits like 😎 Stay safe Somers family, God Bless

WE LOVE HER AND NEED HER IN OUR LIFES AS MUCH AS WE NEED ALL OF YOU! 100° IS HOT ANYWHERE. During the summer we are on a daily basis 100° to 118° which we hide inside our apartment! Nana needs her own channel !! She is so cute!!!💖 it would be great to see how she is enjoying her retirement 😀 So I found this about when to water grass : To keep your lawn looking green and acting as an air conditioner during hot weather, careful watering is key. Irrigate early morning and/or late evening to minimise evaporation. But more importantly, make sure that you use enough water to really sink deep into the soil.😁

That’s amazing how your garden grew so fast. When you mentioned the sun is out for 20 hours a day. I realized of course after only six weeks you would have full grown vegetables. Im happy for your mom n dad traveling through Canada. I know how you feel about your mom not living there anymore. Mom n I sold her house. It was the house we grew up in since 1967. Today she flew to New Orleans with my brother who will take care of her for the next six months. She cannot be alone, she has dementia. God willing I can find a home in a gated community in Florida and bring her back to live with me. Today I was feeling sad not being with her after being with her everyday for 16 months. Looking forward to new chapter in our lives. Thanks for sharing. God bless.

I grew a 72lb cabbage 2 years ago!! Great job Jessica! And in Alaska the sun travels in a slanted 360* circle, in the sky, so even if it’s below the horizon, it’s barley below it for a long period. That means even if the sun isn’t visible, we still receive very bright twilight that can last for hours until the sun comes back up! Another reason we need extra vitamin DDDDDDDD!

Hi Jessica and family! Thank you for sharing your garden. Wonderful job! I don’t have one as large as yours, but a couple years ago I started spreading out my seeding, doing 3 batches of planting, and spacing them by two weeks (first planting in mid May, second beginning of June, third mid June). This way, my crops come in, in three waves which elongates my harvest season a little bit which is super nice. I do this for things like lettuce, carrots, etc. Thank you for sharing your beautiful life in Alaska!
