Fantastic! We sailed up from Portsmouth RI to Boothbay Harbor ME last July. Tons of lobster pots! We seen a small whale 20’ off our starboard while passing the isle of shoals. So much fun. 😀

So much fun to see my old sailing grounds. Born and raised in Maine. Kept our boat in Rockland. Sailed from there to Canada and down to Nantucket where we got married on the beach. I hope you found the reversing falls (un-bouy marked on the charts) just a bit before getting to Buck Harbor and about the same bit after Cape Rosier. 😊

I'm really enjoying catching up on your adventures from the beginning. What a lovely placid place Maine is! That Trimaran (or stabilised monohull as the wiki describes it...) I've actually seen in Southampton UK I the late 90s, when it was in Cable & Wireless livery. It's a small world (but I wouldn't want to paint it)!

just found your channel and after 5-6 videos, really like it. just moving up to a coastal cruiser and have our pitty mix and we all need to adjust!

Great go hear! It takes time to adjust! Those dogs are great for the boat because they can be coach potatoes when they need to be! Enjoy the coastal cruising with your dog and check out our website for more tips! www.sweetruca.com 😄

Super great piece! I grew up sailing out of Southwest Harbor and I let out a shout as soon as I saw Beal's Lobster Pound! And if you think West Marine can be pricey, go to the chandlery over at Hinckley Yachts. And at the Bass Harbor Lighthouse, I even saw the black and white nun noting the Western Way. Sailing here in Southern California's boring compared to back home.

Hey Bob! Great to here this story! It was definitely an awesome experience for us. We did get to visit Hinkley for bit, and you are correct, but it's a beautiful place! Sorry things are boring where you are but I'm glad the video brought back good memories! Cheers!

Greetings from Casco Bay, Maine! Our coast makes for some tricky navigating, especially with the fog. Lots of early morning listening for bells & spotting cans. Sailing out & around Matinicus Rock is my favorite cruise. Glad you visited our shores!

@@SailingSweetRuca that's great, I was just surprised that what sounded like your main reason for the trip to West Marine, loo
@SailingSweetRuca4 жыл бұрын
Andrew Phillips believe it or not, we found the Rocna on Amazon. Prime (free) shipping, and we could use some credit card points/miles on it so it saved us a boat load of cash! We needed a place to ship it to, and the Hinckley boatyard was super cool about letting us ship some things in, despite us owning a J :-)

Running the water maker while sailing ? Huh?
@SailingSweetRuca2 жыл бұрын
Why not?
@easternsun1672 жыл бұрын
@@SailingSweetRuca shouldn't ,just the action of the boat moving through the water can create air bubbles which can be drawn in by the pump ,which not only is not good for the pump but can introduce air into the pressure system which can damage the Pistons but also cause shock to the membrane . Even just sitting im sure you know and have probably experienced an airlock that you've probably had to purge ,reset restart the system.
@easternsun1672 жыл бұрын
@@SailingSweetRuca ppl do indeed make water underway and have not ever had issues ,it's really just not a good practice due to the fact that it just takes that one time that you get air in the system to cause damage . Having the intake closer to the center of the boat can help for sure,also having a pre tank with a vent above the water line will help to . So apologize, not trying to tell you what to do ,been doing this a long time ,so just sharing some wisdom. Cheer's 🥂 have a great day
@SailingSweetRuca2 жыл бұрын
All valid points. We always greatly appreciate knowledge drops! You are right-on the money regarding air locks. We have had to re-route things for better flow. We are prepared and practiced to make water underway when needed though (we usually don't need to as we carry plenty). It is really nice on longer sails to shower not only us, but equipment, etc. Never used a pre tank, but that could be really helpful in some situations I am sure. Great idea!
