More research showed human fetus with micro plastics in the mothers womb. And micro plastics in the ice of Antarctica. And if you in USA it’s 100000% in everything because America is the worst of the worst when it comes to health. And that is just micro plastics. There is also trans fat you have to look out for and GMO and Gluten and seed oils. And so much other shit that is the ducking worst for human and the environment. That’s the US food system for you. Say you want to grow youre own food and “survive on my own” Well since microplastics get fucking everywhere and the chemicals that is used in food goes into runoff water and then rejoins with any body of water and then evaporated into the clouds and then when it rains it is released again somewhere else and that cycle goes in forever- listen just the more you think about it the worst and worst and worst it is. That’s not even accounting the Flouride in the water supply in the US. And everyone in the US will fucking cope and say “nothing will happen it’s fine, there is no evidence in humans they only experiment with rats” That is just 1000000000x of coping and being a bitch because the history of Seed oils and Flouride being pumped into the waters in the US is absolute evil. You don’t need any evidence or proof that’s it’s evil. The fact it was created is evil alone. This is just 1 problem in the US Fucking FOOD LMAO 🫣🤣🤣🤣 Now imagine how horrible everything else is in the US like the housing market. And actaully how horrible the houses are made out of man mad horrors that will give you all the cancers Or the education system which Rockefeller invented with his billionaire friends to help the US. Agreed! Vegan leather should be termed plant base NOT PU leather which smells of petroleum. They should make it a law to name it properly. Don’t use faux leather, but put PU leather or plant-based leather like made from cactus or mango skin.

Formal leather shoes can be waterproof against water splash on the leather part, but if the shoe build doesn't support waterproofing, then it's not. Another alternative is combining leather with Gore-Tex

​​@@AnythingBtOrdinary91Coat it in a mixture of pure lanolin and beeswax. Heat it (* edit: heat the mixture not the leather 😅) in a double boiler until the mixture melts fully. Remove from heat. Stir until you get a trace and then dump it into a container. Use less lanolin and more wax or vice versa depending on how much the leather should flex. Flexible items cannot be loaded with wax, the wax will separate and break off, so use less wax and more lanolin. Wash leather with proper soap made from rendered beef tallow, and reapply this lanolin + wax mix as needed. If you want to understand how durable leather is, check out equestrian gear and electrician gear (their favored holsters are leather because leather is durable and can be cleaned and waterproofed many times).

So sick of the plastic posing as leather. There's a place for plastic in manufacturing, but textiles (especially leather) ain't it. And at least athletic mesh isn't lying to you and actually serves a purpose (cotton shorts would dampen with sweat, get heavy and restrict movement, for example, whereas poly mesh allows it to evaporate quickly). Ive got bball shorts a decade old, but no fake leather. Those all disintegrated long ago 🙄

It’s fairly general knowledge that words that end in -ette are not really what they pretend to be. Ex. A kitchenette is not a real full kitchen. A Rockette is sadly not a rock. A Corvette is not associated with corvée. Personally I think that terms like leatherette and vegan leather are misleading. Just call it what it is. In the case of leatherette, call it plastic. Plus companies will still describe something as leather and then list 100% PU or whatever in tiny print hidden in the description.
