You are right, most of the violence a woman will face in her life happens in her own home. But I think you don't get that it won't be a stranger inflicting it. It won't be an attacker tackling her into her home. It will be her dad, her uncle, her boyfriend or even her brother. Studies are pretty clear on this.

not going autopilot in public is important to anyone. btw men are much more often attacked than women so the non-autopilot advice should be adressed to men

You are right Matt. Todays generations with their smartphones, earbuds/earphones has totally lost connection with real world and basic human instincts like self preservation and situational awareness. There is no amount of bjj, judo, box.... that can compensate situational awareness. Attackers never attack without advantage and always use surprise and victims non awareness.... So NUMBER ONE is keep your self from being stupid and unaware of your soundings and situations... also dont allow your ego to run things. THAT'S NUMBER ONE bjj, judo, boxing....xyz comes on faaaar second place. It can help but dont rely solly on this to get you out of trouble that might be avoided with just using common sense.

I am a grappler but other arts can do it too , let´s not be so square to think.

Doggin on Karate?? C'mon now. Karate is good for strikes and practical kicks. Striking and grappling are a must for women.

My daughter and I have studied ITF Taekwon Do (she’s now 2nd Dan), Krav Maga and BJJ and I have to say whilst the others are very good, BJJ really does deliver. Every week I get tapped by much smaller women at BJJ class and that would never be possible at TKD. That said, still important to know how to strike.

I’m sorry to say this but if you get carried away choking someone with bjj chokeholds on a street with multiple opponents around you… you’re out of luck. If you’ve never trained other martial arts and judging them , you know nothing about them. If you want to know how effective Krav Maga is, train for 5-6 years , reach G1 level and you’ll see how effective it is. Skill matters more than the type of martial art you’re training.
