For Toliman, Alpha Centauri is a triple star system in the southern constellation of Centaurus. It consists of three stars: Rigil Kentaurus, Toliman and Proxima Centauri. Proxima Centauri is also the closest star to the Sun at 4.2 light-years.

The game seems to be down-playing the number of binary and triple stars within 50 LY, though in reality there are a fair few. We already know that Starfield is using many real stars in the game, though not necessarily with the exact exo-planets that science already knows about.

I LOVE how we have catalogue IDs for each star, so that we know the real life counterpart. In the case of VolII for example, the catalogue ID is Gliese 506 or GL506, which corresponds to star HD 115617, which is 61 Virginis, main difference being that in the game it's a G5-type star while in real life it's a G7-type star. Porrima, the star they show earlier in the clip is GL402A, which corresponds to HD110379, which is Gamma Virginis, better known as Porrima. Also, i noticed how when we hover over Arcturus III, it shows that it's an Ice Giant so then i wonder if and how can we explore gas and ice giants. Oh and BTW, Toliman is just Alpha Centauri B

I'm thinking not completely open. I have a question: when you are in the space there's no indications at all in the HUD regard the distance of our ship from the nearest planet...while you have these indications about other ship space station etc etc Does this means that we cannot travel freely manually between planets in the same solar system... all we already know that does'nt exist the seamless landing and it's ok... but 4 example i am outside the planet i want to reach the nearest moon i can fly there manually and then reached the moon orbit select the landing point or in fact the space between the planets doesn't have consistence at all, because if it's like that travelling in space is just select a point on a map...and then flyin just in the small orbit space of every planet... i think that this is quite important question for the relevance of piloting the ship and give consistence to the space in the game where the dev has said you could have encounters explore etc etc... you have some hints about it? i have listened to your videos (compliments by the way) and i don't think you have never talked about that...i have listened to your videos (compliments by the way) and i don't think you have never talked about that...

One thing I'm wondering is if flying in your ship is completely optional. When your in a star system you can look at the system map, but if you can just fast travel to the planet from that map then there isnt much point flying to the planet especially since landing is just a loading screen anyway. Maybe you'll need to enter orbit before you can travel to a planet? But I haven't seen any evidence of that.

I'm on board with naming planets, it's a single-player game, why not? Also, the current naming on planets is standard for most sci-fi with planet names being the system name followed by a number. The higher the number, the further from the star, moons being a letter after the number. Settled or significant planets/moons get proper names. I hope refueling is a thing, but allowing for a mechanic of refueling via a fuel scoop like Elite, or mining/refining fuel from asteroids/planets or even piracy. It adds a strategic level of gameplay when it comes to navigation. If you are low on fuel, you have to plan your route carefully to pass through a system that contains a fuel source. If Menkar (Alpha Ceti) is in the game, I'll be disappointed if there isn't an Easter egg on the 5th planet.
@mrspaceman2764 Жыл бұрын
I love how you can see the gravity well around each body. I wonder if that has any actual gameplay affect when flying through a star system. After seeing this, I think we're only one generation away from a game that truly combines gameplay like Elite Dangerous and Fallout/FPS/RPG. I want to know if you can actually fly from planet to planet in a star system or if you'll have to jump so the game can load everything.
@UltimoBushido Жыл бұрын
Makes you wonder if its possible to jump to a system that you can't refuel in because it's outside of colonized space. If so we might see people jumping to planets just to be stranded without gas. In Elite Dangerous when you want to make those crazy long distance jumps you have to have a model on your ship to collect fuel another way.
@kyriosmalaka2312 Жыл бұрын
It doesn't seem as if Starfield uses fuel scoops. Todd Howard mentioned that you'd go down to a planet to find fuel in the interview where he said that you wouldn't run out of fuel. But the nav computer doesn't plot that. It plots a course from Porrima to Kryx to Lunara and then to Linnaeus. So why does it do that? Is it as simple as those systems are all part of the Crimson Fleet's territory and he doesn't have permission to fly in their system space yet? Or are there specific links between certain systems and not others? Is there something in the game acting to create space lanes like jump gates or wormholes?

Not that naming your own planet wouldn't be cool and all, but it makes more sense for them to already be named. Planets and star systems in our reality already have names, granted, mostly numbers and letters. Would be cool. "Starship big meat landing on Uranus 69" would probably be a thing though.

Mars not having resources could support it being the tutorial planet, if you can't go back there to get resources then it wouldn't have anything shown on the star map.

I'm really curious how extensive the outpost system is going to be. Are they just meant to be player homes and research facilities, or will we be able to build entire towns or cities like we could in Fallout 4?

I kind of feel like what we saw is what we will get, but I'm still hopeful that there will be a creative reason for them too rather than just for utility.

If we can name then the first planet with 5 moons will be named Ahglock, the 5 moons will be named That's, O, G, Lok, Man.
