My local has that for evening buffets, where they charge a lot more and have mongolian bbq too, but the lunch buffet is like half the price, most of the same food too and basically you can eat until they stop the lunch serving 11:30 - 14:30, but still the evening buffet is a 2 hour limit, which is reasonable for anyone except land whales.

The story about the banning is incorrectly portrayed. He called the police on the establisment because they refused him further service. He ate 12 fried fish fillets at an all you can eat fish fry. He was then cut off, but they gave him a take out container with 8 additional fillets. He then called the police because he claims they violated the 'all you can eat' agreement. He was banned however because he had a running tab that he didn't pay, he boycotted the establishment with signs, and he consistently gave the staff trouble on fish fry days. He was disruptive and a menace, which isnt to say he should have been cutoff, but the establisment had a long running issue with him and his behavior. Personally Id say hes a disgusting slob of a man, which again, doesnt mean an 'all you can eat' restaurant should not allow its customers to eat all they can.

A Running Tab At An All You Can Eat Fish Fry..?? This Comment To "Set Straight" The Videos Story Seems More Absurd Than The Videos Portrayal Of What Happened... Who Runs A Tab For A Buffet And Why Wouldn't They Have Him Pay Off The Tab Before The Occurrence Of This Final Time When They Actually Cut Him Off With A "Farewell, To Go Container"? Still.. When They Agreed To Allow Him To Partake In That Particular "All You Can Eat" Then That Makes Irrelevant The Previous Tab Unpaid And He Should Be Allowed To Be Waited & Served Like All Other Customers Partaking In That Same Menu Choice For The Night... Now If There's Fine Print (like, All You Can Eat, *Limit 12 Filets Per Each Buffet Customer* Then That Would Make More Sense... Also The Only Other Part Of This "Clear Up" Is The Part About Sneaking Food To A Buddy/Non-Paying Customer... That Is Stealing Really And That Makes Perfect Sense Then... The Rest Though...😕

I used to be policeman in a fairly large city. We had a captain and a lieutenant banned from a local buffet for making absolute pigs of themselves (no pun intended) at a local buffet. The restaurant had a policy of letting on duty officers eat free, which was created in order to ensure a police presence. These two idiots would put their uniforms on and go there on their days off and eat for hours. If I had been chief I would have fired the both of them. They changed it to half price later, because the department declared free meals a gratuity, and banned us from eating anywhere that offered a gratuity to on-duty officers. I was fine with that; I didn’t want anyone to feel that I should be beholden to them.

It doesn't bother me at all that the restaurant makes a profit. If they didn't they would have never opened their doors. I get a good meal at a fair price. If I didn't I wouldn't choose to eat there. I don't have to eat all I can. I eat enough to sate my appetite. Any more than that and I would be wasting money trying to get the pounds off later. Your mother was wrong when she told you to finish your plate. Eating too much is not healthy and a waste of exercise. BTW, I already know how any business makes money. Not too different the profit margin in restaurants are alway best for drinks especially alcohols specifically mixed drinks and liqour shots. Its amazing to get 30% profit for every dish serviced drinks however depending on what it is around50-90% profit 60oz bottle of Jack daniels about 40bucks here retail. Sell 60 1oz. Shots at 3dollars you turned 40bucks into $180. Almost 80% profit and you know they probably brought bulk with a discount of 10 per bottle and they won't spoil or need refrigeration

I worked a small family style buffet place while going to school. They never wasted anything.They would put out Fried Chicken, then what ever was left over would get a dunk in BBQ sauce and put back out as BBQ chicken. The BBQ sauce would disguise the fact that the chicken wasn't fresh. If they put out baked chicken the next night the leftovers would go into Chicken Pot Pie or some kind of soup. We also had a cold side that had cold stuff and fruit. If it was a slow night I would make a fruit platter with nice sized portions of Oranges Watermelon, Cantelope, etc.When we were really super busy I would get a good sharp knife and turn the fruit platter into a work of art but the slices were so thin you could literally see through them. It was a pleasant edible decoration and people usually wouldn't take very much so it would last longer and I didn't have to keep filling it up every 5 minutes. At first I felt like I was sort of taking advantage of people but then I started getting compliments on my fruit platters which would kind of inspired me to make new and different patterns and designs. I remember helping unload the truck when it came in and we would get big 50 or 100 pound bags of potatos, onions and carrots. I don't know if we had genetically modified vegetables back in the 80s but some of the carrots we got in were damn near as big as my leg. The would always be busted open down the length of the thing like they grew too fast or something but working one up was like working a piece of wood. Like whittling on a big tree limb.

Bobby Spurlock sweet. I worked in food processing for a bit. More on the production side. Deboning, cutting stew meat, and packaging. There are many money saving techniques that companies use that the public is kept in the dark about. Most are methods of short changing the consumers. Adding fat and water mostly. What you described wasnt a shock but im sure most people think something else. Reminds me of an old saying.. "people like hamburgers but dont want to see them made" I think these days more people are willing to see them made.. And made well.
@Xx1tyler21xX6 жыл бұрын
I'm a country boy so I've worked up a lot of wild game. Never knew the proper way to make cuts but just kinda made it up as I went. Worked with some ex-meat cutters so I learned a few things from listening to them. One summer the power company screwed something up and we were without power for about 4 or 5 days so later they kinda did like a class action thing where the gave anyone who applied so much money per person in the household. We have a good size family so it came out to a pretty good chunk of change. We had never done it before but we decided to use the money to buy a beef and a hog for the freezer. For the money that was a lot of meat. Had a full size stand up freezer and an old side by side refrigerator with a freezer on the side and still had to go buy a small chest type freezer to get it all in. It was an investment. Compared to store prices it was dirt cheap and the quality is so much better. When browning hamburger for chili, spaghetti or whatever, it never had to be drained. Literally from a 2 pound bag of burger you might get a half a teaspoon of water and fat from it. If you started with 2 pounds you ended with 2 pounds. No loss. If you go buy Walmart burger, it doesn't matter if you get the 75/25 or the 80/20 it's all the same. More like 50/50. It's about half meat and half water that you have to drain off and throw out. If you pay $5 a pound for Walmart hamburger you are actually paying $5 for a half pound of meat or $10 a pound. Chickens are the same way. It should be illegal. Yeah, most people think their meat comes from a happy magical place.

Why run a buffet if all you're going to do is complain about customers eating there? I like the diversity of items but at a lot of buffets (Chinese mainly) you get people who seem to resent the customer. Don't stand their glaring at the customers. I know people who do go and make pigs of themselves, grab up all the crab legs or expensive items but most people DO NOT do this. I know we never "get our money's worth" at buffets because we are not big eaters. We make up for the ones who sit and stuff themselves for three hours.

If you're going to a buffet to get "the most for your money," that's a losing battle, like this video points out. However, if you're going for the variety, then that's where a buffet really shines, because in what other restaurant environment can you get a meal consisting of salmon, popcorn shrimp, slices of roast beef, a bowl of soup, a cinnamon roll, a side of mashed potatoes, and fried okra? Nowhere that I know of, and if you did, it would cost a fortune, not because of the quality or amount of food, but because of the diversity of items on the plate. Buffets are a godsend for the indecisive. You don't run into the problem of ordering chicken and then partway through realizing, "I should have gotten the post roast." Get up, and go get some pot roast. It's like magic.

That thing about the drinks is no joke. I remember a few years back, 4 of us went to a "free" buffet at a casino. The only thing you had to pay for was your drink. No matter what you got, it was $8 a drink and that even included water and you had to buy a drink. At 1st, I thought $32 for 4 of us to eat all we wanted was still a deal. Then I saw the food. The casino buffet was definitely the ones on the winning end.

By charging you $20 to eat $3 worth of food at best, saved you the time

One ex coworker of mine whom came in at about 450lbs. absolutely loved all you can eat buffets. He told me (before he went on permanent disability) one trick he would do is find out what time the dinner priced menu starts and get there at the tail end of the cheaper lunch menu and put something small in front of him and pick at it making it look like he's actively eating. Then when the dinner items come out he gorges himself with the more expensive dinner menu food items, but with the cheaper lunch menu price. I never endeavored to take his advice on this nor will I as I would rather not be bed ridden and have all kinds of health problems the rest of my life.

Christy Sorry to disappoint you, but yes. Couldn't agree with more as it's astounding being able to collect money simply for eating too much and not taking any pride in themselves. I guess some people have no shame.

There probably is some underlying mental health issue. Most people don't want to be that fat and unhealthy. Being that overweight, dude is likely to die young.

Like many people I love buffets. Sometimes I go overboard with the food and that's when everyone looks at me and say greedy bastard lol ;-)

I'm glad this video pointed out how the ingredients used are usually the cheapest available. And how often do you get a stomach ache even if you don't overeat?
