ezeflierid same with mine. I had the dealer replace it. Jeep knows about it but they need the dealer to take pictures and send it to them. Mine weren’t showing up in the pics so I put my coffee in the area of the marks and the steam really showed them. I had a new windshield the next day
@CurmudgeonExtraordinaire6 жыл бұрын
Try acetone on the windshield to remove the marks. If that doesn't work, try xylene...
@chicagowsox2126 жыл бұрын
Grumpy OldMan I would just go to the dealer and get a new windshield. The chemicals could discolor it. U paid $40k plus it should have a clear windshield
@CurmudgeonExtraordinaire6 жыл бұрын
+chicagowsox212 The windshield is GLASS. Acetone or xylene will not affect glass. Certain types of acids *can* affect glass, but not simple solvents like acetone or xylene. If the windshield was made from plastic, these chemicals could affect it. That's why you would not use something like that on a *motorcycle's* windshield, but cars have GLASS windshields, not plastic. Put a bit of solvent on a paper towel and wipe a small portion of the affected area to see if it will dissolve whatever residue the suction cups left on it. Do not allow the solvent to get on the plastic dash since some plastics will discolor with certain solvents. For example, carb cleaner will cause motorcycle plastic windshields to turn white. I was spraying a carb once and some splashed on my windshield (even though I was trying to be careful) and found that out. :( So, you don't pour so much of the solvent on the paper towels that it is dripping from it. If the form of acetone that you use is fingernail polish remover, then you will have some more residue that you will need to remove since the manufacturers put fragrances and other oils in it. Avoid that if at possible. Regardless, after you use some form of solvent to get rid of the majority of the suction cup residue, use normal glass cleaner to remove any remaining solvent residue. It's like when you get an oil based paint or grease on your hands. You start out with a mineral spirits based cleaner to remove the majority of it and then use Lava soap to remove whatever residue that the mineral spirits left on your hands.
@chicagowsox2126 жыл бұрын
Grumpy OldMan that’s a lot to read especially without having paragraphs but I’ll say this. If you use a volatile chemical on the windshield and it does damage it (which in my opinion it easily could) Jeep could them say Sorry, your owners manual specifically says use water or glass cleaners only on glass. Your idea is a good way to get stuck paying for the $900 windshield yourself

some things never change at Toledo lol. the production volume is #1 priority at that plant, it's been that way since 2012 when the plant started to exceed its designed capacity. the toledo overhaul helped, but the facility still does not have adequate capacity for the volume that management tries to push through it. before the overhaul it was so bad, they were running 3 shifts and sending vehicles out with known fit and finish defects and expect dealers to correct via warranty. it was getting ridiculous. people were getting Sport door panels on Rubicon HR builds, they weren't getting the accessories and packages ordered.
